User ImageImarogbe had been running around with his brothers around the lands. They were allowed to go farther away now that they were a little older. Ima felt pretty proud of himself for the fact that their parents had acknowledged their budding maturity.

He walked around the lands with his head held high, feeling more important than he was. Stopping for a moment and standing still, he wondered where he should go. With his new freedom, he had no intention of returning home any time soon.

The sun was still high in the sky and he still had plenty of things that he could do, he just didn’t now what those things were just yet. Well, he could go and visit his aunt and see what his cousins were up to, they were always fun to hang around.

However, he had recently gotten into a spat with one of them, so maybe that wasn’t such a good idea. Sighing to himself, Ima stood up and began walking again in search of something to do.

Now that she was growing up and wasn't a cub anymore, she made sure she always followed the rules of decorum. Today wasn't any different. One of her gentlemanly brothers had agreed to come out with her, though they never smothered her with distrust or careful watching. They always stayed within calling distance, in sight of each other. She wasn't sure what he was up to, but she was devoting herself to learning one of her most important duties as a grown up banu someday. Hunting.

It was one of the few messy things she agreed to do, and this of course because it was necessary, expected, and proper. There was honor in bringing home food for the family, and none in sitting prettily and doing nothing useful. Though she valued her bright coat's cleanness, she valued fulfilling her banu duties even more. Since she wasn't big enough to actually hunt yet, she was practising on whatever very very small prey she could find. Today it was field mice. She knew a colony of them had taken up residence in a tangle of bramble bushes nearby, and she was slowly, painstakingly creeping towards those bushes, hoping to catch one too far away from home.

Ima walked forward aimlessly without a destination in mind. As he was still getting used to his freedom, he was finding it difficult to find things to do on his own without his brothers.

When he had been very small and boredom overtook his day, he had simply sought out on of his siblings and pounced on him, after which a play fight usually ensued. While he still did this on occasion, it had lost some of its appeal when he would quickly get bored of it too.

He couldn’t wait to get other and go into the rogue lands. What a great adventure that would be, and he would never get bored. He stopped walking suddenly and flicked his ears at the soft sound he had heard. Slowly turning his head, he saw the other cub sneaking up on some seemingly uninteresting shrubs.

With a mischievous grin on his face, he quickly came up to her and said loudly, “Hey! What are you doing?”

Auri sucked a sharp breath of dismay as the loud voice echoed. Her head came up swiftly, but only in time to see the grasses swaying and the leaves shuddering where her prey had darted for safety. She wasn't the sort to snarl or growl, but she did huff a bit through her nose in outrage before turning to glare at whomever had been so rude.

Not surprisingly it was a boy, and one her own age. Her mouth tightened as she clamped her jaws shut. It wasn't that she didn't trust herself not to say something scathing or hurtful. Rather, she knew very well that he was not following the proper introduction protocol, and it grated on her equally as much as his thoughtless causing her prey to escape.

She took a deep, slow breath, turning her whole body to face him and sitting down primly. Her eyes narrowed at him as she pondered what the right thing to do was... wait for proper introductions before speaking, or reply to the question asked. She finally settled on the latter, after much deliberation. "I was hunting, Pesar," she replied formally, her voice tight and clipped with displeasure. "Mother and father both approve of my practising, and my brother is nearby, as is proper." The last was said in staunch defense of her right to be here doing what she was doing. She would not be bullied!

Ima couldn’t help the impish chuckle that escaped him as he managed to thoroughly interrupt the other’s day. Expecting a more sharp response, he was mildly taken aback by her maintained formality.

He enjoyed the honest displeasure he normally got out of the young banu his own age. The adult lionesses tended to be more proper and selectively hid their emotions. Ima himself never really understood the importance of being rigid and formal.

It didn’t sound like any fun to his young mind. “Well excuse me, banu,” he began sarcastically in response, “I certainly didn’t mean to interrupt your thrilling hunt.”

Sauntering closer to her, he paused for a moment and looked her over before saying, “I’m Ima, what’s your name?” Smiling, he hoped to seem a little less threatening.
