Once upon a time~,

There was a mighty dragon named Gustalfore, who preyed on men and elves alike in his hunger. This dragon was so terrible that the king of the elves pledged to give their most cherished magic in exchange for the death of the dragon. Many knights tried and failed in their quests to vanquish the reptilian menace; but, for three generations the people of Gilder lived in terror of the dragon’s evil.

Until a peasant by the name of Rhys Valeir from the village of Lodi welded his father’s sword and raced outside the city gates to face the dragon his brothers were too afraid to fight. They fought for day and night, until both combatants were utterly spent. As the dragon perched atop of Wyndor hill, the valiant peasant siezed his opportunity and thrusted his sword into the air towards his foe. The blade slicing through the air in a twirling arc before finding it’s mark through the dragon’s torso. One sputtering road assuring Rhys of his victory.

In his dying breath, the aged elfin king surrendered to Rhys an amber crystalline sphere forged from elvish tears. The second Rhys’ hand touched the seemingly humble object, known as the Machdig, was magically sealed. Only able to be used by any who shared his bloodline. In celebrating his great victory and receiving so glorious a weapon, it was no surprise that Rhys was made the new king of Gilder. In rememberance of the victory which altered the course of that then small country, Rhys later renamed his village Arcwyn and build what would become the capital city on that hill where the dragon had perished. Arcwyn, because the whirling of his sword had salvaged their hope on Wyndor hill. Changing the name so that the battle would never be forgotten.

Three hundred years passed, and though the story was still told to children, the truth of the Machdig faded into legend. Nay, almost completely disappeared from memory. Even when Gilder was not at peace, there had never been a reason to use so terrible a weapon. So the Machdig remained hidden; locked somewhere within the walls of Arcwyn Castle…undisturbed and collecting dust.

{Anarielx&xRudolfos}
User ImageUser ImageThat is…until Verelle, the daughter of the kings most powerful wizard caught ear of its existence. Uncontrollably desirous of grasping that kind of power, Verelle sought to woo the crown prince in the hopes of keeping the real master of the weapon underneath her thumb. Her eyes always on the prize, A mighty magician as powerful as her father, Verelle used her power to flaunt her beauty; to draw in prince Rudolfos like a moth to the flame.

However…something happened then, that Verelle did not expect. The crown prince was already in love; with none other than her chambermaid: Anariel; in whose gentle kindness the prince had long since been captivated. Enraged at their unorthodox marriage, Verelle left both her traitorous chambermaid and her name behind her. Known only as the dark sorceress Sylvanis; she disappeared for seven years. Plotting her revenge.

Distracted by other matters for six of those years, Anariel and the newly crowned king Rudolfos were enraptured in the purest state of marital bliss. However, although the couple dearly loved the other, they had no children to speak of. Not even a miscarriage to prove she was capable of conception. Having tried every faerie or elvish spell to increase her fertility, Anariel was thought to be barren. Nothing she tried worked in the slightest, and as the years dredged on, the worry of never producing an heir for her husband plagued her night and day. Because there was only one option for her if she did not wish to be sent home someday…and that was goblin magic.

Deeply frowned upon, shunned, by peasant and magician alike, Anariel knew that her good opinion in the eyes of Gilder would be forever tarnished if she sought such an answer through so vile a means; but there was no other option left. So under the cover of nightfall, disguised once more as a common chambermaid, Anariel journed towards the land rumoured to exist beneath Rorot lake; not even knowing where the entrance could be. To her astonishment, an escort already awaited her, to lead her down into the darkness with a blindfold folded around her head.

As if her cloaking charm had no effect on goblin eyes, the teenage Goblin King had granted Anariel an audience without a moments delay. As the queen discussed her problem, young Marak began to reveal to Anariel the secrets of a magical spring that could grant one wish, no matter how impossible it seemed…in exchange for a blood pact that Anariel would do his people a favor down the road, when the time was right. As the queen seemed undeterred, Marak warned her that there were consequences to bathing in or drinking water from the pool of Veittely. The wish, whatever it was, would occur; but it would be a cursed gift. Misfortune and bad luck would follow the child, and her mother, ere’ they go.

Convinced that no amount of bad luck could make her currant situation any worse than it was being a ‘barren’ woman, Anariel accepted the terms of their agreement and swam in the underground pool. Being true to her word, she consummated the blood pact and returned home with little more than a delicate scar on her palm. Nothing could temper her joy in knowing that the next time she knew her husband she would conceive…and conceive she did; completely unaware that she had only been childless because of a curse Sylvanis had placed upon her.

A year to the day Anariel swam in the pool she gave birth to a daughter. So enthused at the latest arrival to their family tree, King Rudolfos summoned all of Gilder to a ball he hosted at Arcwyn Castle. Everyone merited an invitation; except Sylvanis, and after much coaxing from his wife, the entire goblin race.

With the same reasoning behind disinviting the bridesmaid the groom had slept with from being at the wedding, Marak was not surprised at being excluded. Deeming the Queen would not want to risk bearing the ‘stigma’ of having used goblin magic to get to where she was today. Far from offended at the treatment simply because goblins had always been shunned or grimaced at. Disguising himself as a distant traveller, Marak had simply smiled and attended the festivities anyway.

After much feasting and dancing, faeries and elves alike came forward to bless the little princess. Granting her beauty, grace, gentleness, and many other useless talents such as an ‘artistic hand’ and an operatic voice. Scowling beneath his hood, Marak distasted of most of the blessings spoken over the child, because no matter how…unappealing goblins looked, what they lacked in physical appearance the race well made up for in strength and power. What good was a pretty face when one is surrounded by enemies? Chuckling beneath his mask, Marak looked down at the giggling infant resting in her elaborate crib. Unbeknownst to the King and Queen, the little baby in that crib was not the real princess. Marak had switched the child at birth for a changeling. A beautiful changeling, but a goblin nonetheless. If anything, all those charms and blessings spoken over her would only remove what little evidence there would ever be that the ‘princess’ wasn’t human. Marak simply hoped that by the time the couple realized their daughter had been switched, that it would be too late.

As the final elf sent forth a blessing of: enduring patience, the torches in the castle suddenly flickered out. Gasps permated the throne room as a bright unnatural flame blared in the center of the room. The flames forming into the youthful form of Sylvanic, who let out a quiet chuckle at the cowardice in the room. Walking forward, Sylvanis addressed the court.

I beg your pardon, your majesty…”, Sylvanis glared gleefully at Queen Anariel and bowed with equal sarcasm before approaching the cradle.

But, I have yet to bestow my blessing on the child.”, and picking up Linwe and smiling when the infant giggled a ‘coo’; Anariel panicked and ran towards Sylvanis to tear the child out of her arms. No one could stop her, as far as she believed, and Sylvanis proved her wrong by simply barely lifting her eyes from the baby and magically stopping Anariel in her tracks. Her expression serious now, Slvanis spoke only loud enough for those closest to them to hear. Although she directed her words only to Anariel.

Dear friend, I tell you that this child will be blessed an cherished under my loving care until she comes of age; Where she shall share the same disappointment I had to endure when all my dreams were stolen from me. The one she loves will not return her affections, and the things she desires most will be forever out of her reach because…if she does kiss the man of her dreams, she will die.” Sylvanis sealed her curse with a kiss on Linwe’s forehead before seeing Anariel trying to feebly break free out of the corner of her eye. Glaring venomously at both Anariel and her unattractive husband, Sylvanis scoffed and touched her fingers against Anariel’s nose. Immediately the color drained out of the Queen’s lovely face and within a few short moments Anariel was solid rock. A statue frozen in perpectual dismay. Pleased at her latest artwork, Sylvanis smiled brightly to make the baby giggle once more.

Well aren‘t you a bundle of joy…I think I‘ll call you snow.” At this King Rudolfos stormed towards Sylvanis with Rhys’ ancient sword in hand; however, it was already too late for the man to fight back against her. To no avail, the unnatural flames licked Sylvanis out of the room as quickly as she had appeared.

…And when the torches flicked back to life, revealing the aftermath of Gilder’s greatest catastrophe in three hundred years--King Rudolfos was too busy examining the statue his wife had become to notice that the hooded man standing near to them had disappeared as well.

~
Sixteen years have passed…and no one had been able to rescue the princess Linwe from her captor, or even discover where her location is. As for those who do know how to save her; they are not revealing what they know…

In earnest hopes of saving his only child from death; King Rudolfos has posted a decree in every farm, village, or city in the hopes of Linwe being rescued. Offering the prize of her hand in matrimony and three thousand pieces of gold.

[Gandalf says do what I say]

1. Posting.

I LOVE Decorated posts. Please decorate your post somehow; just a picture(no bigger than 500x500 at most) and a name is all I care about. The rest will just amaze me X3. You dont have to be extremely literate, but at least one good paragraph will make me happy. Only use 10/11 size font for posting unless your character is talking very loudly. You should all know this but remember to chat ooc in (()) or {{}} or something like that so we know its ooc. (To warn you, I can sometimes write a small chapter, but please don't let that intimidate you. I'll ❤ role-playing with you)

2. profiles.

Just fill out the code I'm going to give you and PM it to me. Unless your adding a 'sub character' which does not need a profile, you must pm me your profiles so I can add them to the profile post. Only because then you can start posting without my approval for the 'subs' and this rp can start moving. If we stop posting for a long while, feel free to skip a few days. As a general rule: The SHOW MUST GO ON. :3

3. About Godmodding.

Godmodding is an evil thing to do, but if its between two characters that you are both controlling, then its no big deal. I'll let it slide. As a general rule, bad godmodding is: 'Talking for another person', and 'not letting them have the chance to say 'yes' or 'no' before doing something to them. Even if your character is 'all powerful' only 'express that' towards 'fake' characters you make up. Such as an 'imaginary waitress, stranger, make-believe person' that is not played by anyone, and can therefore die.

4. No physical intercourse is to be described.

Romance is a must!; but regarding 'making love'....I am not afraid of it *happening* to add plot to the story; but I am afraid of it being *discribed in detail*. Making love must always be 'skipped'. If you can, hint that it happened or mention that it happened to a friend later to add plot to the story but dont describe it. This is a fairy tale rp, and as I have yet to hear of a fairy tale with anything relatively close to a discription of that nature in the content, I doubt this issue will even come up;But, I'm writing this to cover myself anyway. Advice: When they start to 'strip' its time to skip. (Pre-plan with the other person so that there is no 'dilly dallying' with the skipping.) Now, I'm a grown up and I don't mind reading about making-out aka sad snuggling/cuddling heatedly close), but anything beyond that AND YOU WILL BE ON A BLACKLIST. If you fail to heed my correction in a PM that I will kindly send you, you will be booted from the rp, and possibly the guild. So skip. Talk with the other person in a pm asking their permission for your your characters' plot to lead that way and skip until the end. If we wanted to read a smut novel, we could buy one for five dollars at walmart.

and obviously follow the Gaian tos, or other general rules. Common sense my lovelies.

(if you think I need to change something here, or you have some better ideas please...by all means, pm them to me. Remember this rp is relaxed, carefree, easy come and easy go. No pressure to do extremely well, just have fun. ^^ I might write a mountain when I'm inspired, but so long as your capable of expressing your thoughts; feelings; and actions, don't worry too much about length. We all have off-days, and I'm happy with any reply.)

YES, you must use my profile skeleton...
However: Because of the rarity of avaliable movies that aren't animated to find people from, you can use any photograph of any actors in any movie. If you want to play Arwen from LOTR for example, go right ahead. :3 Just change their names. ^^

(Just find the movie your character 'stars' in on youtube or play the dvd on your computer; watch it full screen, and when you pause the movie on the 'photograph' you want, click 'prt sc' {Or printscreen. Hold down the 'fn' button before pressing print screen if you have a laptop like I do.} Then paste into your basic 'paint' program and upload to picnik or photobucket to edit it to the way you like it. Just a little tip to help you guys out ^^; )

Here is the code:

[imgleft]( Please -try- and find something medieval looking; but its not that important.)[/imgleft][size=14]
[color=postingcolor][b]Role:[/b][/color][color=black][/color]
[color=postingcolor][b]Username:[/b][/color][color=black][/color]
[color=postingcolor][b]Name:[/b][/color][color=black][/color]
[color=postingcolor][b]Race:[/b] [/color][color=black](Human, Elf, Goblin, or Drawf/Gnome. They can interbreed, so you can list two or more; but, usually only Goblins or Drawf/Gnomes inter-breed.)[/color]
[color=postingcolor][b]Age:[/b][/color] [color=black](Goblins and elves age normally except their royalty, who take twice as long to grow up. The sorceress also does not age in appearance due to magic.)[/color]
[color=postingcolor][b]Alignment:[/b][/color][color=black](Good, evil, or undecided.)[/color]
[color=postingcolor][b]Theme song:[/b][/color][color=black](url of a song/Optional)[/color]
[/size]

Roles:
The ones with * are necessary for the rp, the rest are optional.
The Princess.
The Sorceress.
Queen Anariel (NPC)
The Elven Sage.
The Unknowing Farmer's daughter.

The Knight in Shining Armor
The noble blacksmith (NPC)
The Goblin King.
King Rudolfos (NPC)
The Wizard
The Rogue thief who can't catch a break.
The skilled swordsman after revenge. (NPC)

There are no 'set' partners romantically, so your character can have a crush on anyone they like. As all fairy tales have romance; especially unlikely pairings, the princess does not have to be in love with the 'knight in shining armor' or the unknowing farmgirl does not have to be in love with 'The noble blacksmith/craftsman' she could fall for the thief or the swordsman, etc. The possibilities are endless.

Go ahead and be creative. Make up a role if you don't see one you would want to be.

NPC Profiles~
An NPC is a character -anyone- can Godmod at -any- time. They are not main characters in the role-play, even if they have an 'important' role. If I were to post as an NPC towards your character, you -are- allowed to godmod what he says and does as if we were writing a joint story together. Map of Gilder~

User Image
This is just a little map I sketched to give you an idea of what the country looks like.
Don't even waste your time trying to read my goober handwriting or even the 'typed' font I tried to insert...
I decided to just put stickers on the key places you need to know about. No, this map is not to scale; so bear with me please. Its been quite a few years since I practiced drawing...

The Cliffs of Insanity.
The Black Tower. (Where Linwe is being held by the sorceress.)
Tol Cave. (where the Roran River is birthed from. Supposingly there is a lake on the tops of the cliffs that recieves enchanted rain. Whoever drinks of it will be cured of any diseases, or so they say...)
Donguire Castle. Where the Sorceress dwells.
Aorthe Island. (Or more really, a gigantic rock where the ruins of a watchtower exist.)
Romanes Village.
Arcwyn. (The capital of Gildur, where the King and Queen reside.)
Rawthorne Castle. {A castle once housed by elves that resides in-between two bridges where the Roran and Merdot rivers join together.)
Vioden. (A village where thieves and recluses live and dwell.)
Sherlve Village. (A port town)
Tanna Farm. (Sherlve Farmland.)
Rorot Lake. (Where the Goblin Kingdom resides underground beneath the water.)

The hardest part of climbing down the tower was simply keeping herself from looking down. Linwe wasn’t someone who was scared of heights but this was extremely high up and it wasn’t like the tower was easy to climb. It was meant to keep people out. Many times Linwe thought about just climbing back up to her window, tear up the letter, and forget the whole thing ever happened. Thinking about what would happen should she take that notion, Linwe forced herself to keep going down.

It felt like an eternity had passed and the ground was getting no closer. Linwe felt her arms becoming sore and she wasn’t sure how much longer she could hold on. At that moment a rock that she was holding onto fell crumbled under her weight and sent Linwe falling through the air into the darkness. She was too scared to actually let out a scream. She knew that no one would be able to hear her or help. It was all over. All she could think about was the fact that she should have listened to her mother. At least then she would still be able to live instead of the impending death that would soon greet her.

With all the black surrounding her, Linwe didn’t see the hole she fell into. The Light was quickly swallowed and Linwe could only see darkness. There was no way of telling when she would hit the bottom or even if she would. With a smack, however, Linwe hit water. The hit took the breathe out of her but she was able to keep her head above water. The current took her out of the dark and into a lighted, forest area. She gathered up her strength and quickly made her way to the side of the river, clutching to the solid earth so she wouldn’t float away.

Linwe had a little coughing fit as she held on there. She thought she must have swallowed quite a bit of water from that little ride. ”Okay, One…Two…Three.” She lifted herself out of the water and just laid on the ground, thankful to be alive.

Seylin, Bennett, Sir Amhurst, and Bingham had been walking no longer than an hour and a half before a group of Ogre’s attacked out of nowhere. While Sir Amhurst and Bennett were perfectly alright, the size of the group of Ogre’s required the four men to separate and go different directions to distract the hoard. Last thing Bingham saw was his sword and tool cart being stolen by two Ogres before they rushed off. Presumably towards their tribe or village that was beyond the hill. Seylin was rather glad to be without the extra baggage; but, he would never admit this to the blonde blacksmith who still mourned the loss of his cart.

You’ll receive compensation later.”, Seylin reassured, and the blonde man actually believed him. Seylin, still carrying the magic rope, wasted no time in continuing the trot towards Toll Cave before Bingham could argue and ask to wait for the others. Walking in near silence, as Bingham was a talkative fellow when he was apprehensive, Seylin had just crossed the hill towards the mouth of the river that led into the cave when the sight of a body lying on the grass caught his attention. Whoever it was, the person was a woman, and a young one at that. Rushing down the bank towards the girl, the man dropped to his knees and lifted a hand above her mouth to feel if she was breathing. She was, and if she opened her eyes, the man would have stared down into her own with his almost black, odd colored, eyes.

Do you fare well m’lady?”, Seylin asked in a professional but concerned tone of voice.

User Image[Because Areidene is a chief character, I can't skip or avoid using her.
So I am using the same name as the original rp, but changing the picture.
I will do my best to be as close to the original as possible ^^;]

Contrary to the Goblin woman’s advice, Areidene had fled northward through the woods she had imagined. Eventually stumbling upon the road that led towards a thieves town called: Vioden, the girl was about to debate venturing in that direction when an ‘old hag’ began to ‘psst’ a few yards behind her. ‘ Oh no! Am I being followed?!’ Of course the girl was, Marak would never let his bride loose without constant supervision. However, as the usual watchman was disguised as a ferret or homely squirrel, it was not so very obvious. Turning around in fear of what thieves might try and do to her, Areidene was surprised to see the Old-looking Hag waddling out of the woods. Little did Areidene know, that woman was a dwarf who shaved her beard and traded merchandise with Ogres. The very same ogres that had stolen Bingham’s cart not thirty minutes before. Using magic to travel such distances, the Dwarven female was just on her way to Vioden when her nose scented the undeniable smell of gold coins inside Areidene’s bag.

What are you doing wearing such a fine dress here child?”, The hag croaked in a cackling voice. Eyes widening at the recollection that she had not thought this plan through, the farm girl nibbled on her lip and waited for the Hag to say more instead of speaking more than was needed. For all Areidene knew, this could be a human-looking goblin, and she would have to stay on her guard.

Wearing that fancy thing so close to Vioden was not the best idea…did you get lost young one?”, Areidene swallowed and looked around the clearing for any goblin armies hiding in the shrubberies.

No…well…yes. I’m a little lost.”, The hag seemed well pleased at her answer, most likely because a daft female was the easiest to sell something too.

Well now, Aunt Geneva will help you get back on your feet. Where did you say you were going?”, Areidene did not think it wise to truthfully answer the question, and so she simply stated the first thing that came to her mind. Foolish or not.

Donguire. I was trying to get to Donguire.”, Everyone knew that the Sorceress lived in Donguire castle, perhaps the girl should have pondered a moment longer before answering; but, it was too late to go back now. The old hag was cackling laughter, shaking her old head to and fro . The girl seemed to be as gullible as the dwarf /cross thought the girl to be; but, the old hag did not try and dissuade the girl.

Going to save the princess were you? In that thing?”, Another loud cackling broke her sentence in two. “ Oh that won’t do young one…”, The dwarf began to gesture a long, bony, finger behind her towards Bingham’s cart.

Well…I…um…hoped to...”, Areidene felt incredibly embarrassed for her lack of clever responses; but the hag began to walk towards the cart, and Areidene felt obligated to follow.

I’ve got just the thing you need.”, That statement from a salesman was never a good thing to hear.

~

Thirty minutes later, Areidene was clad in female armor, with a thin sword in a hilt across her hip, and a shield tied to her rucksack that now pressed against her back. No longer looking like the scatterbrained maiden she appeared to be before this excursion, Areidene was left feeling quite unsure of herself. True, she had defended the farm from wild animals from time to time; but, she had never held such a big weapon before. Or even struck an opponent except by accident. Areidene hadn’t even sliced the head off of a chicken before, and yet here she was with a sword and shield and she would just ‘magically’ know how to wield them. Areidene felt foolish, of course, for buying everything that the Hag suggested for her to purchase; but, perhaps the ‘illusion’ that she knew how to wield a sword might defer thieves or bad folk from making a bad move towards her. ‘
He said…that this charm was dangerous.’, Areidene thought towards the golden , tattoo-like, snake-looking charm that presently rested beneath the chainmail. ‘ This sorceress has caused Gildur nothing but pain and suffering…’ If there was a way to obtain peace, then the sorceress had to be destroyed, and the lost princess had to be returned home. There was only one problem, Areidene couldn’t return home. She couldn’t return to ‘arcwyn’ either, where the King and Queen resided. Not after promising to return to the goblin kingdom. She wasn’t ready to be responsible for an entire kingdom, let alone an entire race of people. For a simple farm girl, this was all too much to bear…she needed some time. Time to mature, and time to let the shock of her identity evaporate from her shoulders.

There was also another problem…Everyone who sought to save the princess either returned home injured, or never came home at all. ‘
If the Sorceress suspects me…she’ll probably kill Linwe…’ Areidene did not wish to think about the death of a complete stranger. This girl was supposed to be the princess, and if Areidene could possibly help it the girl would remain unaware and sit in the throne in her stead. ‘ Her family is the King and Queen more than they ever will be to me.’ Areidene wished to remain a farm girl, but that was not going to happen. She wanted to remain free, above ground, and yet she knew she would have to go back. It didn’t matter if the charm coiled like a snake on her collar bone and upper arm was the most powerful goblin magic in the world. Would it really work against a powerful sorceress? ‘ I have to try…’ Worst came to worst, the goblins would somehow know where she was and drag her back underground again before she could take a step in that castle. ‘ I hope that Princess Linwe is doing alright…’ She really hoped that the girl was still alive; but, the farm girl felt that thinking such a thing within her own head might bring a curse down on Linwe’s head . Taking a step, Areidene looked both ways before venturing up the road towards Vioden.

Linwe stayed where she was just working on calming herself from the events that just transpired. She listened to the sounds of the forest around her. It seemed so strange. She hadn’t really heard sounds like this before. It was a sound like thumping. She decided that she wouldn’t have to worry about that. It didn’t seem to pose any real danger. And that was when she heard a voice right above her. This scared Linwe more than she ever thought it would. She didn’t even have the courage to open her eyes right away. Finally she slowly opened her eyes to find a human face staring back at her. Her insides were buzzing around like crazy. She never thought that she would run into people this fast. She thought she had time to prepare herself after she was out of the tower. What should she do? What was he planning on doing?

Quickly, Linwe scrambled from her position on the ground to standing up. She never took her eyes off the man who had been over her. She couldn’t keep her eyes off of him. If she did that, he might strike. She must always be on her guard. She was backing away rather fast and was stopped by something solid behind her. Turning fast to look just so she could refocus her attention back to the man, Linwe almost screamed when she saw another person there. She was startled enough to fall off her feet. She was too scared to even function correctly.

Looking about her, Linwe wished her eyes would land on her bow and arrows. If she had those then she would feel less defenseless. Unforunately, she didn’t see it anywhere. She must have dropped it during her fall. ’Perfect.’ She knew these men wouldn’t leave her alone unless she came up with something. ”Excuse me. I am fine. I must have lost my way but I’m sure I’ll find it again.” She prayed they would accept this and continue on their way.

Seylin’s eyes widened when the girl scrambled up from the ground like a frightened doe, but his eyebrow began to raise when the girl began to back away from him like he was the bubonic plague. ‘ I’m not going to hurt you…’ , That much would have been obvious simply because he kept his arms crossed against his chest. However…there were no towns nearby, and the river flowed downstream and not upwards (but for once every hundred years). Seylin tried to smile politely, and reassuringly, but his smile was long since broken from age, and the result looked more shrewd than friendly.

Bingham; however, let out a high pitched noise in both apology and surprise when the girl bumped into him. The blonde man scratching the back of his head and vehemently repeating how ‘Sorry he was’ and that he ‘didn’t mean to get in her way’. Seylin detested brown-nosing apologetics, but what was even less appealing was the oblivious Bingham really being that much of a bumble to mean all those apologies. Seylin really didn’t feel he had anything to be sorry for; but, the man did need to apologize…At least for the sake of courtesy.

Forgive me for startling you…”, Seylin began; but, he was soon interrupted by the pale-faced doe.

Excuse me. I am fine. I must have lost my way but I’m sure I’ll find it again.”, Seylin raised his eyebrow again, this time in disbelief. ‘
All the way up here? An entire day and a half walk from the nearest city?’ That seemed incredibly suspicious, and the man made no secret of it. ‘ The girl was found in the river…that flows down from Toll Cave…that led to the tower where the princess might have been.’ Without magic rope a person could not climb up through Toll Cave to even reach the tower, so either the girl had been washed down the river from stumbling inside the cave, or she had taken the express trip down from the tower. ‘ How very peculiar.

We didn’t mean to startle you miss, we were just on our way to the tower and happened to see you on the riverbank. Seeing as you seem to fare well now, I’m sure we could go on our way…”, Bingham began to ramble and Seylin resisted the urge to cover his eyes with his hand from shame and embarrassment. The blacksmith was an attractive fellow; that certainly made up for his lack in other areas. There was only one way to truly find out what the girl was doing so far from home, and so the man walked near the girl with his hands across his chest to try and subliminally reassure her that he meant no ill will.

Honestly Bingham, were you born yesterday?”,Bingham laughed because he thought Seylin had been joking. Seylin chuckled, if only to let the blonde fellow believe that little lie.

We are on our way to the tower to try and rescue Princess Linwe. We happen to have some magic rope that can help scale the path inside of Toll Cave. If it is not too impertinent, were you attempting to reach the tower too?”, Seylin crooked his head to the side in thought. His eyes never leaving Linwe’s face.

The closest town is nearly a day and a half’s walk from here without horses…and in case you didn’t notice my bandaged arm there are Ogres who live nearby that like to eat young women stranded all on their own.”, It was true, so he didn’t dilly dally.

Ogre’s have magical tongues, which make up for their lack in appearance. If you hear the words they tell you, you’ll fall under their spell and jump into a cauldron yourself and ask if they want you well-done.”, It was a very unpleasant subject, and Seylin was in no means threatening the mysterious girl.

I’m afraid that unless you are to venture up to the tower with us, It would be against my conscience to let you try and wander home all by yourself. Especially since nightfall is only half a day away. ”Seylin was not going to let the girl wander off alone, even if he had to detour. However, for some reason Seylin had a strange sensation in his stomach that this girl was much more important than she seemed to be; however, he would wait and let the truth unveil itself as time went on.

Linwe felt relief hit her when one of the men talked about going on their way and leaving her alone. It worked! She actually managed to talk her way out of danger and she could go on her way. This little victory was short lived however. The other one started talking and Linwe couldn’t help but to listen to every word he said.

They were on the way to the tower to get her and they had some magic rope? That meant if she had stayed in the tower, she would be a sitting duck. No doubt, they would have arrived before nightfall when her mother and Marak were supposed to show up. That thought alone sent a chill up her spine. This man asked if she were trying to rescue the ‘princess’. Why were they calling her the princess? She knew the King had wanted her for his daughter and that was why her mother hide her in the tower in the first place. Her mother had told her that they wanted to kill her so why were they talking about rescuing?

The next town was far away as this man said. Linwe didn’t know if she would have gone to a town but she knew that humans were not the only danger and staying in the forest could be dangerous. Then of course, this man mentioned Ogres. This was not something she wanted to deal with. Ogres were horrible. Linwe had read about them in some of the books her mother got for her.

Linwe knew she shouldn’t question it but she was dying to know. ”What are you to do with the ‘Princess Linwe’ when you ‘rescue’ her?” She looked between the two men as she waited for the response.

The second that the strange girl began to speak, Seylin raised his hand with a ‘snap-like’ motion as if to keep the blonde from botching his ability to hear her speak. Bingham had no plans to interrupt, but he felt strange at the (almost) stranger giving him a command like he was the leader of their little trip just because he knew the trail. Bingham didn’t think to suspect Seylin or feel peculiar because the older man knew the inside of Toll Cave so well, he just stood there with a shrug and a blank expression.

What are you to do with the ‘Princess Linwe’ when you ‘rescue’ her?”, Seylin was about to answer when Bingham started laughing. Everyone who was anybody knew about the princess, and the ones who didn’t had seen enough posters in the populated areas to know that there was a reward in place for her return home. The idea that someone didn’t know when those posters had been up for so many years was rather comical for a blacksmith that equipped many a knight for battle in the past few years.

Wait…you mean you don’t know?”, Seylin saw the obvious confusion on the girl’s face at the subject, or believed he had, and sent the man a rather cold stare. He was being very rude; but, poor Bingham did not mean to be in laughing at Linwe’s lack of knowledge. Walking over a few feet towards the blonde, Seylin lightly tapped Bingham’s shoulder. Shaking his head back and forth distastefully before turning to the brunette with a courteous nod of the head as an apology.

Bingham, will you walk to the top of the hill and make sure the Ogre’s are gone?”, Receiving a task, the blonde began to run up the hill, which thankfully left Seylin and Linwe alone to have a decent conversation. ‘ That boy is a blunder…’ Seylin took a step or two towards the girl to properly hear a reply without impeding her personal space.

The way you worded your question makes it sound like we were going to cart her off underground like a Goblin.”, Seylin laughed because it seemed comical at the moment. “ I’ll just summarize for you if you prefer young lady; but, I do find it strange that you know absolutely nothing about princess Linwe. Are you from Florin?”, Seylin didn’t expect to hear an answer to that, so he continued speaking and sat down on a boulder nearby.

Almost two decades ago our queen Anariel gave birth to a daughter after having been barren for many years. In celebration, the King prepared a fine banquet for the entire royal court, and citizens of Arcwyn. Fairy cross healers even came to the banquet to bestow magical blessings and enchantments on the child for a long life free of illness, and other such amenities.”, Seyling was getting to the point, but his eyes were on the trees for a moment. His mind in contemplative thought.

But you see, not many people know this, but rumor has it that the queen was not supposed to marry the king in the first place, he was set to marry someone else. Some say that the queen was this lady’s handmaiden, but no one but the royal court know the entire story behind it. The royals would know more; but, the fact of the matter is that the lady in question was not pleased that this baby was born. She was not pleased that she had not been sent an invitation to the banquet either, and so she put a curse on the queen. Turned her into stone, picked up the baby, and used magic to disappear from the room before any of the guard could stop the woman.”, Hoping that Linwe would understand the history of Arcwyn’s royal family, the man started to have a strange inkling in his stomach that the tale would mean more to the girl than the ordinary person. But alas, Seylin said nothing.

I don’t know if the curse on the queen will be broken, but King Rudolfos hopes that her presence might break the curse on Anariel. It’s a sad little tale; but, there could be a happy ending. Well, as happy as there could be, given the circumstances been dealt.

Linwe felt herself get a little upset when the blonde man spoke like it was silly she didn't know. Of course she knew. Her mother had warned her early in her life. In fact, her mother reminded her of it just last night. They would capture her, take her to their king and have her killed. The only thing Linwe was confused with was the men saying the word rescue. The description her mother told her seemed far from a rescue.

The black haired man made the blonde leave to look for Ogres. While Linwe felt a little bit better at only having to worry about one man, this one scared her more so then the other one. He seemed to have plans running through his mind. His mention of being taken underground by Goblins only reminded her of the idea that Marak was supposed to arrive that very night and do just that.

Linwe listened as the man explained the story to her. It was rather strange to have people speak your name to you as if you were not there. She knew she had to keep up this charade of being someone else. If they were to find out who she was then she might as well have died on the fall from the tower. The man asked a question but it made no sense to Linwe so she didn't respond.

While she listened Linwe marveled at the fact that she was actually in the world conversing with people. This scared her at the same time but it was also exciting. For as longed as she could remember she never thought this day would actually come. She wished for it but thought it to be impossibility.

The story the man told was much different from the one her mother said. Maybe the king lied to his people so they wouldn't think him cruel. That had to be it. He made up a lie and told everyone so they believed it to be true. Once Linwe was given to him he would kill her. That was the only  thing that seemed to make sense to her.

After he finished his tale, Linwe knew she must speak. "I see. Thank you, sir for explaining the tale for me. I live far off in the country and my mother doesn't discuss such topics with me." Linwe hoped that lie would be convincing enough. But now she had a problem. This man had said that he would take her to the nearest town which was a ways way from where they currently stood. Or she would go with them to fetch the 'princess'. She didn't want to risk the truth of who she was to come out and it would come out a lot faster if she was around more people. Best to just keep it between these men. "If you don't trust that I can handle myself then I wish to join you on your quest."
