Toruk had been out on one of his 'undisclosed' missions into the roguelands, trying to track down a rumor of a dangerous band of warriors who were supposed to have settled close to the Iknimaya's forest. Thankfully he had found only a few lone rogues, most of whom had fled at the sight of the highly-decorated and rather large and heavily scared blue male.
Now, back in his beloved forest, Toruk moved swift and silent through the dense foliage, and yet he was dawdling, enjoying the day and this small space of time he had to relax before he had to report back to his King. Scaling a low branch easily he bounded across a narrow 'gully' formed by the criss-crossed trunks of fallen giants, before bounding back down to the ground, paws almost entirely silent. The sudden voice off to one side sounded loud to the jungle-trained warrior and instantly he turned and headed towards it. The sound had been young and this was an area way beyond where children were allowed to roam.
Locating the cub wasn't difficult, for she made as much noise as a young elephant to Toruk's keen hearing, scrambling through the undergrowth clearly without any idea how to properly maneuver through their heavily overgrown home. Huffing softly the warrior slipped through the undergrowth, stalking the child for a few moments before circling round in front of her and settling himself square in her path in a small patch of open ground. Tail curling behind him he waited for her to reach him, pale eyes focused, expression stern.

He had to squash the urge to grin at the anger in her glare. She was spirited, that was plain to see, and he had every faith that one day, she would use that spirit to guide her people. But for the time being he let her spit and glare, let he just be the cub she was. There was no shame in youth, it was a glorious and far too short lived thing. Only when she spun away from him, still radiating that discontent, did he finally let his expression soften and a smile touch his mass fleetingly.
"Because I am a grumpy old man who thinks he knows more than you." He replied, eyes sparkling with amusement as he watched her rear. He knew he wouldn't have let her go even on a self-discovery trip, it was far too dangerous for one as young and as truly inexperienced as her, they could not risk the loss, and it wasn't because she was heir, she was a child of the People and each and every one was too precious to squander.
Suddenly he had an idea. "How about you show this old man what a fool he is eh? If you can best me in sparring, I'll let you go."
