DUES EX MACHINA PERSONNEL FORM The Hunter Name: Maiya Lyons
Nicknames: Mai (My)
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Category Mist
Personality: Maiya has always been a soft spoken individual. Though her penchant for quiet verbalization is by no means an indication of the sort of person she actually is. Far from shy or reclusive, Mai tends to be bold with her actions, and less with her words. Someone insults her? She's liable to slap them and move on (hopefully while they are in stunned silence - if she's lucky), or a high five when something good happens. She enjoys physical contact (no not like that), and being active (in fact, sports that require any form of checking or tackling are a particular favourite of hers. She seems to ignore the fact that, with her small size, she tends to get bowled over more often than not).
Why is she a hunter? There was blood. It glistened in the light that peeked through the crack in the door. Small eyes looked on, wrought with confusion... pain... Suicide, they'd said. She'd been so happy though. So full of life. Good grades, a tuition for college...
Maiya couldn't understand. Mere weeks before her sixth birthday, the child rationalized it the only way she could. Being the youngest of five, Alora, the eldest, had babied her. Coddled her when the others would tease her relentlessly about the monsters that lurked in the closet and under the bed. She'd always allowed Maiya to hide in her room when her older brothers would wait beneath the bed until she'd be comfortable, jumping out at the last minute to scare her.
It couldn't be what they said it was. No. They made her do it. She'd never leave Maiya alone like that.
Never.
For years she made her parents leave the light on in her room until she'd get up onto her bed, and even then she'd sprint, touching her feet to the ground as little as possible, and curling up in the middle of the mattress at night. As the years passed on, it did little to remedy these fears.
So when the opportunity presented itself with that man... that strange, strange man. There was little real thought put into it. It was their fault. They took her sister. They would pay for their sins. So she went along.
During her time on the island, she was mostly alone. She had brief glimpses of others, but she seemed to lose track of them, and she spurred on, driven by a goal she didn't understand. Something pulled her along though, perhaps just the sheer desire to get away. After some time she found herself in an abandoned area, and she hid while she tried to plot her way out. It didn't turn out too well for the girl, however, as she soon succumbed to the creatures lurking in the shadows.
