The sun was still meandering along its upward climb, and already the day had been very productive. There had been a steady stream of customers both placing orders and picking up their goods (and leaving their payment as they did so - pretty baubles, food, and useful tools were in equal showing). It was getting on to the usual noontide lull, now, and Drooling Blood was about to take her lunch break. Customers were usually busy getting lunch themselves around now, so she didn't expect to be disturbed.

This may have been a mistake.

Click to show.Lizardskin has never been one for social graces; in point of fact, the kimeti has made his home territory largely inaccessible to anything but the smallest of snakes and frogs. The only kimeti welcome at any time is his sister, and often Scale will leave her for weeks on end without even so much as a backwards glance. The only companion he seems to tolerate is a small green-and-black watersnake, which currently lies coiled around his neck as he makes his way to collect his order.

He has gorged himself on a nice meal of small, brightly-colored frogs, which may or may not have had an affect on him; as he makes his way to the tree that signifies Drooling Blood's 'marketplace,' his gait becomes slow and sinuous, fluid. Not exactly the way a normal kimeti would walk. It is slow out of necessity, as he sees things in triplicate. Drooling Blood herself is a bright purple smudge against the swamp.

When he speaks, his voice is mildly sibilant and mostly toneless. "Am I disturbing you?"

Just as she was about to dig in, she heard whas sounded suspisciously like a kimeti approaching. That can't be, she thought, it's noontime. Nobody comes by at noontime. When she recognized the atypical rhythm the footfalls sounded, Drooling Blood's face drew into a careful blank. Oh, no. This kind? Maybe not... then she heard the buck's slurred speech, and all doubt was removed. This kind. The kind that maybe were just off form birth, but more than likely hit the sauce a little too hard, weren't ever quite right again after. These guys were usually pretty iffy on the subject of payment, but once they latched on to a supplier, could sure as sunrise be counted to turn up on a very precise schedule. This one was interrupting her lunch, no less - hopefully this time didn't stick.

Oh well. She was a professional, and professionals had standards. Gotta be polite. She stood from the shade where she was resting and addressed the violently green and black buck, "Not in the least. Have you come in search of my services?"

Polite didn't mean she couldn't get him out of here as quickly as possible..

Nobody comes by at noontime indeed -- unless the kimeti in question is Lizardskin. He has an odd sense of time. And propriety. (In point of fact: he doesn't care.)

He blinks at her with an unflinching expression after she finishes and then shifts his weight. The doe wavers, splits into three, and then becomes one again as his vision clears ... aaah. The blurred vision is always the most annoying side effect of eating the little brightly-colored frogs.

"Of course." The sibilance in his voice doesn't seem like it's from the frogs -- it may just be how he speaks. Everything he does has a studied slowness about it. "Have you anything to offer?" He looked around for a moment at the piles of payment. "I hope I haven't come at a bad time." Patently false, but at least polite.

Regardless of the real cause of his speech, her assumptions would have been the same. Drooling Blood was not often said to be an understanding or imaginative doe.

"Not at all," she lies right back, and continues, "but I'm afraid that I don't have anything..." and, before she can stop herself, she adds "... except for a small stock of samples." Damn, damn damn. That wasn't going to get him out of here sooner! without missing a beat, she keeps on with her usual introduction. "I typically make my products to order, so that each customer gets exactly what they want, and so as not to overtax my supply."

Not to mention that it's easier to accidentally mis-mix - no, no. Give him a chance first, she corrected herself. She couldn't dismiss a potential customer this quickly! She needed to work on her patience.
