Personality: 'Melancholy'. Mar mostly stays near the lake by the Kawani village, and keeps to himself. He's not too talkative and has little in the way of social skills. Females and males alike make him act awkwardly, and only a few can bring out his inner snarker (it's actually easier for those who he dislikes, or just Celeste).
When with those he's comfortable with, he's a bit more talkative (a liiiiittle bit) and not too afraid to speak his mind. So if you're his friend, he's more likely to be harsher to you than if he doesn't know you. Yay? Not like he doesn't make up with it by being a bit dorky and kind overall.
He's still a Kelpi, which must be noted. He eats only fish and enjoys the thrill of the hunt and has been tempted to drag down swimming horses. He's a killer, and he knows it, and embraces what he sees as right, but fears others of his kind even if they're not like his herd(see below).
Backstory:In the Western swamp, there lives a herd of bloodthirsty Kelpi who take advantage of their sharp teeth and the helplessness of horses and humans alike in the waters. Believe it or not, Mar comes from this herd.
From what can be told, Mar was shunned for his lack of believing in 'foul play', as he saw it. He made as much space as he could between himself and his kin, knowing that if any of them saw him they would mock him. No one would miss him in his absence, even if his father had an important role within the herd.
Eventually, Mar came upon the lake and the Kawani village. He cautiously approached out of curiosity, and was actually welcomed by the locals. Things seemed calm and relatively stable, and almost too much so for him. Mar would have left if a local Kawani female didn't force him to stay because she seemed to know more about him than he thought. Ever since, he's stayed near her teepee, taking primary residence on and in the lakeside.
Voice: A deep baritone. Think something like Cr1tikal's voice.

Relations:
Celeste T. L. Requiem- She follows Mar around and likes to be difficult. She's Mar's BEST and only friend. Also his mate and one true love. Do not hurt her or you will meet his teeth. Head on.
Nessie- A bubbly little sea turtle who doesn't fear him and has taken to following him around. Mar finds her harder to handle than Celeste most of the time.
Mariam Requiem- His firstborn daughter. She is a Wind like her mother. Very spunky and like Rion's second half. It's amazing how much everything's changed now that she's disappeared....
Marlea Requiem- His second daughter. She is a Kelpi, so Mar is very stern about her respect of the lake. Lea reminds Mar very much of Celeste in attitude as well as looks.
Marion Requiem- His only son. Mar tolerates the kid's rambunctious attitude as long as he doesn't hurt anyone with it. Rion is a Kelpi, so Mar is very stern about his respect of the lake. Since Rion grew up, they've had a slightly tense relationship. Rion is restless, while Mar is immovable. They are both heartbroken over Riam's disappearance, however.
Sonata Requiem- The miracle child. Sonny is a very excited, curious kid, who wants to see everything, do everything, and more within a day. Mar would her burn off all her energy wherever she liked, as long as she was within his sight. Now that she's an independent adult, he worries for her constantly. Her happily ignorant naivete definitely concerns him...
Tian- The first foal Mar met. She thought he was funny, he thought she was odd and a bit too giggly.

Backstory: She came from the Putti lands with the rest of the tribes, as quiet and friendless as always. With more space, she took to following random horses of interest, always finding them interesting while avoiding humans and of course the more foreboding of equines (skin walkers, kalonas, etc). Silent Sorrow is without parents, siblings, or kin of any kind that can be bothered about her. It seems that any she had were killed or never left the old lands.
She doesn't talk about it.

Personality: Anaflexi is open, friendly, but honest. As in bluntly honest. As in, yeah your hair looks stupid. That DOES make you look fat. But then, you would look nice in it if you lost weight...why are you crying?
This could be mistaken for being an "airhead", but she was raised to speak what she felt. Even if it's incredibly offensive.
Besides that, she can be the best friend you ever had. She's a caring sort, to the point of being a liiiittle bit of a pest. Once you're on her radar, she's never going to leave you hanging. Which means if she can, she'll check up on you daily. Or even more than once a day. That's what friends are for, right?
Backstory: She grew up in a nice family, and learned to be honest (see blunt) and how to fight. With a sparring couple for parents and having only brothers as siblings, she became quite a tomboy. Once old enough, Lexi decided to travel just because, hey, why not? She's rarely seen her family since then, and her priorities are currently elsewhere.
She's currently sticking by a crippled stallion named Mirat. Lexi found him in a glade, where he was at such a miserable point that he never wanted to leave. Being who she is, Lexi bugged him about how dumb she thought he was acting, and almost literally nudged him out of there to live like a real horse. They've been travelling together ever since.
At one point during their adventure, she wished upon a star and they found a couple of baskets not long after. Lexi's immediate reaction was to get them to her parents, wherever they may be at this point, but the baskets popped before she could reach her father and mother. So, Lexi and Mirat became awkward not-parents, raising the adopted foals as their own sorta-kinda as they continued on their journey.

Mirat- A crippled, emotionless black stallion living in a glade. She got him to explore beyond it, and is currently helping him learn to feel emotions.
Krio- Her "son". Kind of. Ish. Lexi's afraid to make that leap of claiming motherhood despite not birthing the kid. He and his sister have had to call her "Lexi" instead of "Mom". She appreciated his curiosity (and his waggly little deer tail), but as an adult, she's...concerned that Krio took a little too much of his "father" to heart when it comes to lack of emotions mixed with adopting Lexi's bluntness. The two of them are constantly fighting, with Krio stubbornly thinking that his way of acting is perfectly fine, while Lexi thinks his poor attitude will get him hurt (and just flat-out thinks he's become a jackass)

Personality: "Observant". Oracle is watching, always watching. He keeps himself as unbiased as possible, and lives to serve. Since Lexi likes to run her mouth and make rash decisions, his job is rather harrowing. Oracle can easily keep up with the flighty winged-cerynei, both in flight and mentally. He can usually tell when she's considering a terrible idea, and will calmly give his own opinion, whether she asks for it or not. Usually, she's not looking for what he has to say, but Mirat can only do so much to keep her grounded. The two of them together might make her a true adult someday. Maybe. Possibly. Spirits can only hope... |

Personality: "Overcompensating". Being the runt AND having Celeste's short genes bothers him a LOT since pretty much everyone in the tight-knit family will always be taller than him. Because of this, Rion has to make up for it in EVERYTHING ELSE. He HAS to be the best at everything, so his height doesn't matter because he's awesome!
He's still fairly touchy about being a shorty, though, even though his family is loving and supportive of him no matter what, including his hulking father Mar (who just doesn't see what the big deal is).
Backstory: He grew up at the lake near the village with his tight-knit family. His size was always a sensitive issue, and he and Marlea quickly became sibling rivals. As an adult...he's still very much as he was as a kid.

Mar- Dad! Or, 'the favorite parent'. He looks up to his father and wants to impress him most out of anyone else. At the same time, he wonders why he's so...apathetic most of the time. Doesn't he ever get bored?
Celeste- Mom! Probably the parent who he got most of his personality from. She's the fun one compared to, well, Mar. That is when she's not too upset over her missing child...
Mariam- Riam! His Wind sister. Two peas in a pod from birth. But where has she gone...?
Marlea- Lea! His Kelpi sister. He thinks he's better at anything Kelpi than her, and everything's a contest. Yay mostly-friendly sibling rivalry!
Sonata- Sonny! His baby sister. The 'shrimp' is the most liveliest thing he's ever met, and he has to wonder if she really came from his parents. Even so, he does enjoy her company. At least in spurts. Rion has some secret awe that she has both wings and a kelpi tail, instead of being either-or like he and his brood sisters.

Personality: "Tempestuous". She's snappy, short-tempered, and not willing to deal with anyone's stupid comments or observations. The little gryph is a spunky, barbed lady.
While snide, she has a great wit, and a surprising sense of humor beneath all of her simmering ire.
Backstory: Hero grew up with her pure gryph mother and half-gryph siblings.
They all had wings except for her. Sure, a sibling lacked claws or feathers, but even so. They could fly. The gryph community she was raised in could all fly, while she was stuck on the ground. From a young age, she was jealous. She was never bullied outright, only teased, but even so, she internalized it. For the longest time, she hated herself and bemoaned her existence for being the wingless child. As she started coming out to the world, however, she realized that others lacked wings, too. Those in winged families, no less. It wasn't as bad as it seemed...but something else took its place. Compared to regular soq, she was short. Average height for her family, but short compared to other horses who did not hail from the desert. Hero started to realize that life isn't fair. For some, the odds are stacked against them no matter what they do. And so she became bitter on a wider scale.

Personality: "Starstruck". There isn't anything in the world that doesn't excite or fascinate Sonny. She's in love with the world around her, and there is nothing about others she dislikes. In fact, she even thinks there has to be some sort of good in skinwalkers and the like! If kalonas and kelpis can be good despite their reputation, why can't beings of pure evil be redeemed? Logic!
While her good-intentioned naivete is endearing, it's also very, very dangerous and it's easy to take advantage of the kind soul.
That is, if you can get her away from those who care about her and know how harmful her loopiness can be.
Backstory: Mar wished upon a wishing star that many were looking to during the great Kawani rebuild. He left an offering of fish and the request that he and Celeste have another child to replace their missing daughter, Riam.
Sonata was the answer to that prayer. She came about at a time when her parents needed a distraction, but also when all of her siblings were already fully grown and independent. From the get-go, she would be a very lonely child. She adapted to it well, however, and took to seeing the world around her as her greatest company. Even now, she's interested in literally everything, and wants to find all of the neatness in the world before settling down around the lake she grew up at.
Voice: Something pleasant and somewhat high-pitched. Very giggly, too.

Mar- Daddy! Big and built like a rock, but deals with Sonny's insistent attitude.
Celeste- Mommy! She was very protective of her youngest child while Sonny was a foal, but let her learn how to fly since she didn't want a repeat of the past.
Mariam- A sister she knows about who has wings like her. They have never met.
Marlea- A sister she knows about. They have never met.
Marion- Big brother! They have a great bond. Rion always acted like the annoyed older brother, and Sonny loved pestering him. They love each other to death and always had fun. Rion's a little annoyed that she's over a head taller than him now, and will never stop calling her "squirt" despite that.
Nessie- Daddy's familiar! Nessie and Sonata are two peas in a pod. The excitable duo! Spirits give Mar strength.
Teagan- A little buddy Sonny met once!
Leilani- Sonny's flying teacher. Mar found her as if by the spirits' grace. "Miss Leilani" did her best to teach Sonata how to fly, but it seemed that the mix of kelpi and wind blood made Sonny flightless despite her best efforts. Sonny still admires the green mare, and they have a pleasant aunt-niece-like relationship. Leilani's even played matchmaker for her student.
Senshi- Leilani introduced Sonny to this large, clumsy horse one day. He was very nice and amiable and absolutely adorable and Sonata liked him immediately. Realizing she has feeling for him, however...will take some time since she's kind of got her head in the clouds as it is...

Personality: "Frost". He's cold as ice. He's short-tempered, to the point, and can be casually cruel if he's annoyed. Even when he isn't in a bad mood, he can be pretty cutting.
Backstory: Found by Lexi and Mirat, his and his sister's basket were to be sent to Lexi's parents. Didn't work out that way, so now he sees them as his parents. "Lexi", as she demands to be called, is a cool mom who lets the kids do whatever and be free spirits. Dad fusses. Krio thinks they're both odd, while his sister took on Lexi's attitude.
Krio himself meanwhile adopted Lexi's bluntness and Mirat's lack of emotions. It's made him a bit of an uncaring jerk who only cares about understanding the world he was born into on what could almost be a scientific level. Krio was always curious, after all.
Voice: Brainiac 5's, basically. He's totally not an expy or anything

Relations:
Lexi- His mother who refuses to be called that. Lexi enabled his curiosity growing up, but now the two constantly fight over his attitude. He rarely wants to bother with her because of it.
Mirat- His adopted dad, who is nowhere near as obnoxious as Lexi is. While Mirat doesn't like Krio's adult attitude, he's more tolerant of his kid on the whole and tries to at least nudge him in the right direction without giving him a hard time.
???- The Lexi Clone, as far as Krio's concerned.
Harbinger- The vigilant buffalo. She doesn't annoy him near as much as others do, so he lets her stick around.
