Not sure if this was posted already by me but I couldn't find it so I guess it didn't get through but the point of this topic is traveling to Japan. As a Japanese citizen I see constantly tourists coming in and spending so much money that could be saved. Here are some things that would be recommended you do BEFORE flying to Japan:
1. Learn Japanese thoroughly
(Reduces confusion by communication)
2. Learn the Japanese economy especially taxes etc. If you plan on working and or owning property
(Reduces spending too much money and or going bankrupt. It's best you save a large amount of money to be converted in Japan. This apartment I'm renting costs 174,000yen a month [Not including parking and management fee which is over 70,000yen]
3. Make sure you control your NEEDS first, then your WANTS later. And don't make your wants your needs or you will be in deep financial trouble. :I
