So, I have recently picked up the liking of pirate metal. Anyone else like?

o.o It sounds kind of like folk metal, hm, yeah it's good. Though I'm sure there's something different about pirate metal and folk metal... probably general origins confused

I've yet to find out what pirate metal is, is it lyric based or music based? For instance of speaking is it pirate metal for the same reason HIM is "Love Metal" and Amon Amarth is "Viking Metal"?
In which case I don't like Maelstrom that much but I am in love with Carach Angren

pirate metal is pirate metal for example: alestorm or swashbuckle.... folk metal on the other hand i adore. reason being is that some band can tell tales like TYR or ensiferum stuff like that where there history or origin comes from either viking, myths, folk tales religion etc. huge example: equilibrium, finntroll, moonsorrow, eluveitie, turisas, whispered, korpiklaani. list can go on. but for pirate metal i find alestorm and swashbuckle to be the best
