Not a care in the world this day. Not that Clouded Quartz had cares on any other days. But this day in particular, the wasn't having many thoughts, either. She supposed it was normal- now that she was thinking about it. But thinking about it didn't happen often, either.
Or did it?
In any case, Clouded Quartz, or as she preferred to call herself, Mist wasn't doing anything worth mentioning five minutes from now. At least nothing anybody else would find worth mentioning. But there she was, standing in a shallow pool of water, staring at her own reflection with the sky painted a brilliant, dazzling black reflecting behind her. She admired her coat and then admired the sky in contrast to her soft, pink hide.
She wondered, sometimes, if she was a part of the morning sky. If, perhaps, she had fallen and somewhere in the sky was a hole shaped like herself. Unfortunately this made her think rather highly of herself- not that anybody else knew since her thoughts were usually disconnected and jumpy. Having a conversation with Mist was much like talking to multiple Kimeti at once.
So, again, there she stood, perfectly still in the water so as not to kick up any dirt and stain her fur. After another lingering gaze at the sky's reflection she bent her head to have a sip of water, her eyes following the ripples caused by her movements.

Stargarden was his usual, perky self this evening. He was following the path the stars had paved out for him or rather the path the crocodile did. His bright eyes shone brightly in the dark air. He was more or less wandering as he has lost track of his companion Bites For Fun when the sky first changed colours. But he was determined to find him, that was until his attention changed. He seen the moon on the horizon! The moon had found it's way back to him! Moon moon moon!
He crept through the waters at the unsuspecting doe and nearly pounced on her. Affectionately nuzzling his long time lover, the moon. "Oh moon! Long have I last seen you, I thought I'd not see you in my sky again," he sang happily. "My! Your colours have changed with the seasons! A rosy glow, do you blush in my presence? Do not be shy! How did you find me? Were you lost?" He rambled, throwing many strange questions at the unknowing doe beside him.
He stopped talking though, giving her a chance to speak as his nose found it's way into her silky hair, his horns brushing against her sole one. He moved his body with hers. Oh, how he missed the moon.

Clouded Quartz simply blinked as she was attacked by this strange male. Not only was he strange, but he, like her, looked like the sky.
Only he looked like the sky. She stared, her eyes very intent on the part of him that was pink, and peered down at her rather squiggly reflection in the water.
She looked up at the dark sky and then back at the Kimeti in front of her. "Did you fall? Are you missing something shaped like me?" she asked in return, instead of answering his barrage of questions or reacting to his closeness.
She took a small step and peered around his chest to his other side in an attempt to examine his hide for a missing piece.

Stargarden took a step with her, he could not lose sight of his moon for this night! Although eventually he knew he could not follow her over that other horizon, he'd make sure to keep her until it happened. He'd love his moon all night and at dawn they'd once again part. The sun ready to escort her and Bites For Fun would wag his tail in attempt to say "here here dear." He just hoped she would not stay away for so long next time! Should he grow wings and fly back to the sky if she were to stay away any longer.
"No, you did," he said. "Once a moon, you fall, how you get back up I do not question." He found himself practically chasing her fluffy tail in his attempts in nuzzling her more and more, half ignoring her strange behaviour. "You are here, how could I be missing you?"

She blinked again- he would not let her see his other side! Was that where she belonged? She narrowed her eyes a little and lifted her head to his. "I cannot be the moon. I am the Morning Sky." Mist cocked her head to one side, her expression becoming one of confusion again. "Are you the Night Sky?" she asked, her voice heavy with curiosity.
She wondered, then, why the Night Sky seemed to want so badly to be close to her. Shouldn't they not be close? Shouldn't they be trying to get away from each other?
What, exactly, was he trying to do? She took some steps away- so as not to disrupt the balance of the Swamp.

He seemed to ignore her crazy banter about her not being the moon. How could that be? It couldn't, that's how. He cocked his head to the side, mirroring his moon. "You ask questions you know the answer to," he replied, going back to nuzzling her affectionately, that is, until she stepped back. He seemed to growl. Why was his moon trying to leave? The sun was not anywhere near the horizon! It was not time for her to go!
He stepped with her, grabbed her hair with his mouth and gave it a little tug, drawing it down right into a bush. He messed it around some and grinned proudly, his bright eyes staring at his beloved moon. How could she leave him? Again? It was not time! This was where she belonged. Right here in this bush. "You belong here," he said, pointing out to the bush.

"What!?"
Mist had no words, really. One minute she was stepping away from the Night Sky and the next it was tangling her in a bush. Something was very not right here.
"I do not belong in a bush." she nearly snapped. "If I were the moon I would belong in the sky. But I am the sky; the moon belongs in me." She said all this while making some futile attempts at untangling her hair from the bush. This was ridiculous! Why would the moon be in a bush, anyway?
Why would the Night Sky be trying to keep her close? Why? Perhaps he wanted to trap her here! So that he could take over the sky and make it eternally night. How terrible that would be! She began struggling anew, intent on releasing herself from this strange, foliage-prison.

How could she say she did not belong in the bush! How? The moon always fell into a bush for him! Softly he'd untangle her and they'd spend a happy night together! The moon wouldn't try to run away! He burst into words, completely ignoring the fact she said she belonged to herself. "The moon is mine!"
He watched her attempts to free herself from the fiend, also called a bush. This was a scene he'd seen before, his poor moon trapped down here on Earth because of this fiend. Perhaps he shouldn't rescue her? Perhaps he should throw some vines onto the fiend to assist? This seemed good. He ran off as fast as he could, coming back with a mouth full of vines a few moments later. He tossed them onto the struggling moon and then tugged them into the bush too.

Mist simply froze in place when she felt the vines being thrown on her. Maybe if she stayed still long enough the strange Night Sky would return to its place... in the sky.
But for some reason she spoke instead, "You don't seem to be missing me so you can't be where I belong." The words made sense if you knew what she was talking about. The problem was that not many Kimeti ever knew what she was talking about.
"If you are the Night Sky and I am the Morning Sky the moon is yours and mine." she whispered. "Or am I the sky that has come from the Night Sky?" she questioned rather strangely.
Once again the idea occurred to her to remain silent and still and she stopped fidgeting around, her muzzle clamping shut to allow no stranger words freedom.

How could she say he was not missing her? He missed every breath she took! Every step she takes! Every word spoken, every second apart! They were meant to be together! How could she say that the moon was not his?
He seemed to growl unhappily about something but continued to tuck the vines until they were firmly in place. Then he stood, inspected his moon carefully. He ignored her mostly, it wouldn't have made sense to him anyways. She was the moon, not the sky. Such foolishness. It was silent. He spoke. "I am missing your words. Moon belongs to me."

She was confused. Which isn't to say she was normally aware of everything surrounding her, but she was particularly confused by this buck.
She couldn't be the moon, the moon was more beautiful than any Kimeti she had ever seen, herself included- though it pained her to admit that. And as far as she knew the moon was still in the sky. But she could be wrong, it could have fallen into the water- like that time she thought she saw it sitting on a lake.
Mist stood silently, contemplating all of these things. She didn't know how long it would be until the morning came but thought she could see a faint lightening of the sky. This was no good! No good at all.
If Mist missed the morning, how would she examine it for her place? How would she get home to where she belonged? The crazy Night Sky would have to let her go eventually, wouldn't he? She turned her head towards him and stared. "Only if you are the Night Sky. But my place is the Morning Sky." She had a mind to continue repeating this apparent nonsense until the Night Sky let her go.

Stargarden looked over his shoulder to see the lightening of the sky. This was bad! The moon would have to go back! They could not stay together past night time! He made a disgruntled noise and looked at the moon again. She spoke such nonsense, claiming so much lies. Why did she seek to hurt him so? Perhaps she was just trying to get back before the sky left her. He stared at her, and he took a step back. He didn't untangle her though, it completely slipped his mind as he bowed his head to the moon, said goodbye and slowly walked away with a very unhappy disposition. Any noises she made it seemed he did not hear, even if they were loud and in his ear. He did not hear.
"Until next time I look up into the sky, my dear moon," he said, looking up to see the moon back in the sky, looming down on him that caused him to smile. Even when far away the moon adored him. He did not look back, as he followed the moon off the horizon and the poor confused doe in his wake.

Mist screamed. A shrill sound of anger that resonated from her scream carried some distance away from where she was situated. The crazy Night Sky had left her tangled and tied to the bush. She was certain that she looked absolutely strange, here, but had no way of loosing herself.
She was lucid enough to know that this was bad. But, she imagined, surely somebody would hear that scream and come to her rescue. Yes. Somebody would come. Somebody would come to her and rescue her and then she would be safe, again. No Night Sky to trap her and she would be able to look for her home in the sky above, again.
Yes... The calming thoughts soothed her enough that, eventually, Mist found herself drifting off and, sure enough, she fell asleep standing there tangled in the bush.

Her sounds were not unheard. In the soft dawning sky, they echoed into the distance of the swamp. From there, two strange kimeti picked up the sound and soon found themselves stumbling on the doe trapped in the bush. The creature seemed to lick its lips at the sight of the restrained doe. She was even asleep. Better for the taking.
"Chaser," the creature called, "look at this tasty treat I found."
Soon coming behind the creature, a glittering sky pushed the dawn out of the way. A buck with a purple, and blue sky painted over his white skin. He looked at the one who called him first. She looked just like him. They could be two forms of the same creature. Same purple and blue sky painted onto a white skin with two sets of horns peeking out and a small mane on her head.
"Dancer," he replied, and then slowly looked at the doe in the bush. She was stunning, asleep in the bush of all places, her silky hair horribly caught in it. It was best when prey couldn't run away, and even better when it couldn't object. He nodded to his twin in approval, eyes looking into eyes. Stars reflecting into the same soul.
They both met in the middle, standing in front of the helpless doe. They grinned to each other as they both approached the sleeping doe. Head first they moved forward further and then with their teeth they each grabbed a side of her hair and pulled...

The sun was high in the sky, warming her body. Her songbird, Shadowed Dawn, was trilling about, flying in wide circles around her entire being. Mist positioned herself in the middle of a vast field, her body sprawled out under the sun, not a care in the world...
Suddenly she shrieked as she felt the simultaneous pulling of her hair startling her awake. She opened her eyes and any objections she may have had died in her throat.
The first thing Mist saw was the most beautiful sky she had ever seen. Of course, he had rudely woken her with the tug of her hair, but she had already forgotten. Had she noticed the rest of the sky standing near her she would have surly swooned.
"It is the Dawn, just before the Morning." she whispered, mostly to herself. It was her favourite time of day. He was beautiful; she had never met him before. Mist had only admired the Dawn Sky from a distance, created when the sun is beginning to kiss the Night Sky. And now, here he was up close.
