You should avoid soda, hot baths, alcohol, cigarettes, and illegal drugs. Your partner would have to ask the doctor whether any over the counter medication that she takes is safe to use during pregnancy or while trying to get pregnant.

But didn't you say in another thread that your partner hasn't had a period in three years and never went to a doctor to find out why? If that is the case, then eating right and avoiding all the bad stuff probably won't make a difference. Some fertility issues are much larger than that. And if she hasn't had a period in three years, her issue would probably fall into that category. She needs to go to the doctor and find out what the problem is.

Until then you should absolutely not be trying to get her pregnant. Women who are pregnant or trying to get pregnant need to see an ob-gyn. She could have a condition, issue, or disease that she could pass to the baby, or that would make it dangerous for her to get pregnant, or that would make her more likely to go into labor too soon, etc. Don't forget, if you two don't care about your future baby's health, you're not ready to be parents.

Forgive me, but if you don't have the $300 ready for even going to the doctor, how are you going to afford a child?

Did you take her to a clinic? Most things are free or low cost at places like Family Planning or Planned Parenthood.

But really, if you can't afford $300 for her medical treatment then you probably can't afford a baby. Not to mention that we still don't know if it would even be safe for her to get pregnant.

So it still sounds like you two should stop trying for the time being. Wait until she can get to the ob-gyn regularly. Wait until she can get treatment for whatever she has. Wait until you two can confirm that it would be safe for her to get pregnant. Wait until you two have the money and room to support another person. Wait until she's been taking prenatal vitamins for a while. And wait until you have done some research on breastfeeding, birthing techniques, prenatal health, etc.
