Utterly lost, Stardust paces back and fourth. He'd been following the directions a skeleton in his mother's collection had given him. And now, due to a size difference - who knew that a hundred steps by a mouse was a lot shorter then for a Kimeti? - Stardust finds himself farther from home then he'd ever been alone. What's worse, it seems he's gotten turned around and can't even find his way back again. "That's the last time I listen to that ghost!" he tells himself.
With a sigh, Stardust decides to make the best of it. After all, mom would find him sooner or later. And maybe she'd be less mad if he had a new set of bones for her when she came. "That's it, I'll find her the best set of bones!" This thought firmly in mind, Stardust starts searching low, and as high as a colt can, for signs of death. Especially ghosts, they always seem to hang around the bones that made up their skeleton in life.

Daisy Chain came bounding along. He was slowly getting the hand of this walking thi--THUMP landed right on his face. However, the little foal shook it off and giggled. A bruise or two never hurt anyone..well they did, but not by much. He wondered how far his mother was behind him. While she was busy picking flowers, Bud scrambled off and disappeared. It was always fun to explore and hide from mom. Picking his way around roots and splashing in puddles, the playful little foal came across a particularly lumpy looking rock. It was also very green and yellow, with strange white stripes. Shrugging, the pink foal thought, a rock is a rock, right? So he clambered up on top of it to get a better vantage point of his surroundings.

Stardus gives a very audible "OOF!" when something jumps on his back. Immediately, the green colt rolls over, flipping onto his back before rolling to his belly and scooting away. Turning, he looks at what had just pounced him. Seeing it's a pink Kimeti, younger then him, Stardust shakes his head. "You always go rock climbing up other's backs?"

Daisy Chain rolled along with the rock. This rock was loads of fun! It moved! Blinking, the little pink buck took a better look at his funrock. Huh. It was a kimeti, older than him by the looks of it. No wonder his rock moved. He giggled ecstatically at the foal's question. "No, silly... well sometimes on mommy's back, but I thought you were really a rock!! A green an' white an' yellow rock!" he said, stumbling to stand up on his wobbly legs. Moving closer, he got a better look at the foal. "Wow! You got red eyes. Mommy has normal-lookin' eyes...Not that you're weird...they look cool! Like ghost eyes. Mommy says ghosts are dead people. They're scary..." he added. And with that, Bud shivered and sat back down, quickly looking around. Ghosts scared him. A lot of things did. "Oh! I should in-toe...inch-row... ... I should tell you my name! It's Daisy Chain, but mommy calls me Bud. You can too, I guess. What's your name?" he said, cocking his head.

Stardust snorts, already feeling a bit annoyed at this foal. "Ghosts are not scary! They tell me the most wonderful things. Like where the tastiest things are. That's what I was looking for, actually. One of my mom's mice skulls told me where a stash of shiny and colorful rocks was.." Only after that out rush does the colt realize how rude he's being. The foal, even if he thinks ghosts are scary, had shared his name. "Sorry, I'm Stardust. Anyway, since I can't find the rocks, I think I'm too big to follow mouse directions, I decided to find more bones and skulls for my mom."
Standing up, Stardust looks around, trying to decide where to go from here. Only after making his decision, and taking a few steps away, does an idea hit him. "Hey, wanna help me look? We can look for pretties for your mom too." By pretties, Stardust means skeletons and skulls. Being just a colt, it's never occurred to Stardust that all Kimeti like different things.

Daisy Chain cowered a little at the colt's tone. So scary! But the colt's words bolstered his courage towards ghosts. Maybe mommy was wrong! Could there be nice ghosties? The little buck grinned at the thought of it. "Stardust is a pretty name! I like it! Your mommy likes bones and skulls? My mommy likes flowers! All sorts of 'em!" Then he sprung up, bouncing up and down, and followed closely next to the foal. "Can I?~ I'd love to help you! Maybe if we find a skelly, it can tell you where to find pretty flowers! And both our mommies will be happy!" Bud beamed at the thought, but he couldn't help wonder what Stardust's mom looked like...

He smiles, he can't help it, this young ones energy is infectious. "Flowers, huh? We'd better look for a mouse or other small plant eater, then. Or a bird, they eat bugs and bugs like flowers." Stardust states, as though he knows all there is to know about the creaturs in the swamp. He changes course, toward a large pile of rocks. "May be some bones here." Stardust says, starting to peer into the nooks and crannies, and shift some of the smaller rocks away.

Daisy Chain grinned widely as the other colt smiled. He was so happy that they were both happy! Simple pleasures in life~ The little foal listened to the older kimeti's words and treated him like a mentor or older brother. Boy did he know a lot! When they got to the pile of rocks, Daisy Chain instinctively climbed on top of one. This one was a normal brownish gray, and didn't move. How boring. Watching his new friend, Bud decided he should help move rocks too. He jumped down and picked out a smaller rock, and pushed with his head. He groaned and struggled, but it seems the rock was heavier than it looked. After a good few minutes, he finally rolled the rock a little bit away. Then he looked at the soil beneath. He never really saw bones before, so he didn't know what he was looking for. But...he should know it when he saw it, right? So the little pink foal pawed at the ground, looking at Stardust for reassurance.

Stardust stops long enough to watch the foal. "I'm not sure bones would be under the rocks, but most probably between them." This statement, while true for some species, would be false for any type of burrowing creature. Turning back to his work, Stardust moves around to the other side of the pile. There he loosens some lower rocks, then climbs up to tumble the ones on top down. This creates a loud clatter, that sends chills up the spine with the sounds of rock grinding on rock.
After the dust is settled, Stardust starts inspecting the area he'd opened up. Seeing a bit of white peeking at him, he calls for the foal. "Hey, Daisy Chain, commere." While waiting for his new friend, Stardust gets in closer. Unfortunately, it's just a fragment of skull, and a few odd bones. At east they'll be able to show Daisy Chain what to look for, so Stardust sets to pulling them out.

Daisy Chain cocked his head at Stardust, then the wet soil that was once beneath a stone. "Under..." he said to himself, memorizing what it related to. "Between" he then said, looking at where Stardust was searching. Bones aren't under rocks, but between. He wondered how his mother would react once he told her what he learned today. Would she be happy? He hoped so.
He bounced out of the way from the dust cloud that was produced by the falling rocks. Bud coughed a little as the dust dissipated. Then, hearing his name, his little ears flopped and twitched at the sound. He scrambled up the rock to where Stardust was and stuck his nose in the crevice. Seeing the white fragments and shapes, he grew excited! He backed up so that Stardust would have room to get them. "Do ya think they know where pretty flowers are?" he asked, looking up at the older colt with wide, curious eyes.

Bending down, Stardust scoops the skull fragment into his moth, then scrambles back down. Laying on a rock, the colt turns, spitting dirt from his mouth. Turning back, he opens his moth, the foal's question pouring out. "Hey there, have you seen any pretty flowers around here?" He stands there watching the skull fragment, head cocked and ears perked as if listening.
After several minutes Stardust straightens up. "Thank you." This to the partial skull before turning to Daisy Chain. "She says there's lots of flowers over that way, by the stream." Stooping to scoop the fragment, Stardust then trots off.

Daisy Chain stood amazed by what was taking place. It was obvious that Stardust could hear the bones speak, but Bud could not. Instead, he blinked at the bones, itching to hear something too. Then he heard a voice, though it was only Stardust's. But the news he brought made Daisy Chain smile. He bounded after the colt, bouncing with joy. "Thank you bones! I didn't know it was a she...We're gonna pick flowers~ Pretty, pretty flowers.!" he rambled, trotting close to his friend.

The trip is short, distance wise, but takes a lot of pushing through foliage and wedging one's self past trees and bushes growing so close only a youngling could get through. At the end, though, it proves worth the struggle and minor scrapes. When the stream comes into view it is clear the skull told no lies. The bank they came out on was barren, but across the water are flowers in abundance.
With little thought to anything Stardust tramps into the water. It's not deep, only coming up to the colt's knees, and just the right temperature for wading. Forgetting the flowers for a minute Stardust runs around, back and forth from bank to bank. Chasing fish, frogs and everything else in the water. By the time he remembers why they came, Stardust has managed to soak himself and a large bit of area on both sides. Not to mention churn a good length of the stream into a muddy froth. "That was fun. Now to get your mother some flowers."

While the colt ahead of him struggled here and there to pass through tight spaces, the little pink foal had nary a trouble. He slipped and slid between trunks and ferns and stone alike. Only once did he nearly get stuck, and wondered how Stardust managed to get past that point..
When the stream emerged into view, Daisy Chain's eyes lit up in joy. What a playground to behold! He pranced around in the flowers, and watched as his friend played in the stream. Distracted, he bounded after him, soaking himself in the colt's wake. He tried to stay near the shallows though, unsure if he could touch the bottom of the stream just yet. When they were finished he was out of breath, but heart pounding with excitement and energy. He ran back to the bountiful meadow and sniffed out all the different flowers. There was a vast array of colors, shapes, scents. It took him several minutes, not only because of the number of flowers to search through, but also because many a beetle and odd-shaped stone distracted his quest. Finally he came across a light-pink flower with ruffled petals that caught his eye. It immediately reminded him of his mother, even her floral scent, and he carefully pawed at the dirt around it until he was able to pull the flower out, roots and all. His dear mother taught him that, so that the flower could be replanted and live.

While Daisy Chain searches for flowers, Stardust looks for bones. Pausing now and then to call out to the foal things like "Here's a pretty flower!" or "This one smells nice!" Mostly, Stardust just roots around for bones and overturns rocks in his search.
No luck, other then beetle remains. He stops his search when Daisy Chain starts pawing at the ground. Trotting over, Stardust watches, wondering why the foal doesn't just pluck the flower. "Why dig it up?" The colt doesn't stick around for an answer, though. Something by the water's edge attracts his attention. Going over to inspect the water bug skating on the surface, Stardust again has his attention grabbed. This time by a fragment of white.
Pulling it out, the colt is happy to see it's a bone, though after a few minutes search his hopes are dashed. Just the one bone, a leg bone maybe, from something largish. Picking it up in his mouth, Stardust submerges it in an attempt to wash off the muck.
Unseen by the colt, who's eyes are closed to protect them from muddy water, a pair of reptilian eyes are peering at him from a short way off. Eyes that any Kimeti would recognize as crocodillian. Eyes that are steadily getting closer, then vanish altogether as the creature submerges in preparation to strike.
