I personally prefer Nirvana because of the somewhat "angsty" lyrics and sound to it (yes I'm THAT sort of girl). But Guns n' Roses is rock...

Nirvana. Duh.

Axl Rose is a stage-light whore. Kurt didn't want to be like that (hence his suicide). Besides, Nirvana was pretty much the soundtrack to the 90s. Without them, what would we have now? Guns 'n' Roses really didn't inspire anyone, the only person out of the whole band that anyone knows is Slash. With Nirvana, Kurt and Dave are the famous ones, even though Kurt is dead (16 years come April).
