What is your favourite stereotypically British saying?

Personally, I like "what ho!" or "crikey".

'Would you like a cup of tea?', as it means I'm likely to get a cup of tea biggrin

"Come and have some tea and crumpets, my dear." Mmmmm....Tea and crumpets.

"Tally ho!" is good fun to yell at inappropriate moments. "Blinking Nora" is a wonderful example of old-time swearing avoidance, not to mention amusing.

Definitely "bloody hell"

I like 'bloody hell' too.

It works as a simply expression of surprise, as well as to add emphasis.

"What the bloody hell is going on? Who the bloody hell are you? Why the bloody hell is my drink in a dirty glass?"

Calling people a miserable git is amusing. Although it doesn't work well as an insult.

Crap is a good word. As long as the "r" works.

Crap isn't particularly British, is it?

Probably not but it might be a crikey type one because it sounds very effective with a thick Scottish accent. (As long as it isn't a ned accent)

I was called a "miserable sod" recently. For some reason I thought it was quite amusing. ~Giggle.~

Ooh forgot about that one. And then you went and stopped being a miserable sod which was half good and half annoying since it stopped being true. Maybe 3/4 good...
Sod is better that git. "Sod off" is also amusing.
