The one I'm using requires a 48 hour patch test and you do not wash or touch the area in the mean time. I applied the dye two days ago (Thursday) in the evening about 7 and went to bed at about 11 and in the morning there was a small brown dot on my pillow where dye had imprinted, I had put a good bit on so it hadn't all dried in. Also I had a shower but only from shoulder down. Does this still count?

Uhm, when patch testing hair dye, don't you dye a little patch, which means washing the dye out and THEN not doing anything to it for 48 hours?
To make sure the color turns out and you aren't allergic.
Your poor hair is going to fall out if you left the dye in for 48 hours.

No it's a skin test. It says you put a penny size dot of it on your skin below your ear to test it.
