Shading helpppp~

I really want to shade like Jinichu and Kl-Chan on Deviantart =D So does anyone have some tips on what tools should I use or something D=

You just have to play with the colors, for when I shade I always use a new layer and mark where I want to shade, then you pick a color darker then the one you used to shade.

Shading can be rough but you just have to play with it until its right.

I use The GIMP, but I think the same idea works on SAI. I make layers.

I use the pen tool to make shadows then blur them.

Three or four. Making the next darker than the last. Deciding the actual color is up to you. Pick what looks good. I used to smudge all the hard edges by hand. Its a really long process, but it does look good.

Now what I do is blur the entire thing then erase the excess. And, smudge big areas that just look too 2D. Or totally obvious is doesn't look right.
