Okay, testing this out. I had to figure out a general approach and then it occurred to me to use animals as a base.
SCIENCE FICTION!
Roll two twenty sided dices. Then you see the numbers you got and make the avatar according to it. So if you get numbers 4,7 then you can either be Plant Religious Figure or Cnidarian Scientist.
Race: 1 = Human 2 = Arthropods 3 = Non-corporeal (could be gaseous, energy-based, trans-dimensional, even a hologram) 4 = Plant (may also be fungus) 5 = Near-Human (something that looks mostly Human, but is definitely not Human) 6 = Encounter Suit Enclosed (Nobody is sure what this alien looks like in its all-encompassing suit) 7 = Cnidarian (Jellies, corals, anemones) 8 = Piscine 9 = Mammalian – General non-primate 10 = Human 11 = Android/Robot 12 = Fantasy crossover (pick a favorite Fantasy race, such as elf or dwarf, and make it sci-fi. Warhammer 40k may be a good inspiration) 13 = Mutant or Post Apocalyptic Zombie 14 = Amphibian 15 = Reptilian 16 = Silicon-based/stone/crystalline 17 = Avian 18 = Mammalian - Cetacean 19 = Hybrid (Roll two twenty sided dice, apply both numbers to the race category and combine) 20 = Cyborg (Human/mechanical)
Class/Occupation: 1 = Free Trader 2 = Futuristic Sport Star (swoop jockeys, pilots, guy who kicks space weevils through hoops) 3 = Smuggler 4 = Scientist 5 = Military Officer 6 = Entertainer (which is only slightly not code for Twi'lek hoochie) 7 = Space Pope! (Bonus points if you get Reptilian and run with it!) Futuristic clergy too. 8 = Ambassador (try to represent your character's race and culture!) 9 = Common laborer that keeps the galaxy running 10 = Security forces (police and guards and such) 11 = Medic 12 = Hacker 13 = Mercenary 14 = Eccentric local merchant (like a used speeder salesman or a droid merchant that specializes in gay robots) 15 = A mystical warrior (yeah, that would be like a jedi) 16 = Gangster/mobster 17 = Bounty Hunter 18 = Pirate 19 = Soldier 20 = Politician/Ruler

Sammirah Exxos, that looks hard! Cool, but hard! whee Yeah, fantasy was simpler. I had a hard time making a general sci-fi theme and covering a lot of bases. I think that I might be better off cutting it into smaller bits, such as Star Wars-like, Star Trek-like, B-Movie Era, Post-Apoc Dystopic, Post-Apoc Fantastic (Shadowrun), and Diasporic (Firefly)... Maybe some others.
Fantasy could be cut into two, high and low.
I think you might be right, Zacheriah...

I was, however, thinking that another version of the game would be cool. What about a general one, using things like colours and themes? Or zodiac signs?
EDIT: Aaaaand he beat me to it!
