Fish Bones picks his way through the deep swamp carefully. Growing tired of sloshing through the water, he looks around, spotting an island. Quickening his pace, Fish Bones nearly runs toward the dry land. Happily he trudges out of the muck, and onto dry land. Giving the island barely more then a glance, Fish Bones plops down in a sun dappled area, closing his eyes to rest while drying off.

Cold-Blod was in the water, slinking along, waiting for her chance to strike. She had seen her snakes do this many a time. Sink into the water, with only her nose above, and wait. Wait until something swam nearby, and when it was within grasp, strike! She had already caught one fish, a decent size, enough for one meal for sure. But she was aiming to get one more.
There! A nice plump fish was making it's way over in her direction. Now all she had to do was wait for it to get closer. And once it did, she pounced. Whipping her head to the side, she managed to bite into it in a solid grasp. Trudging out of the water, she came up onto land and smacked the fish against it, just once, to kill it. "There! Nice fishies for me..." Just as she said this, she noticed the other kimeti, on an island not far ahead. Deciding to be polite, she picked up both fish by the tail and made her way over.
Plop. She had dropped the bigger of the two fish at the other's front hooves and said, "Hope you're hungry. Well... if you're not, I'll sure have it." She wandered a few paces and dropped down herself to lie down and eat her own fish.

Fish bones looks at the fish for a moment, then over to the Doe who'd dropped it for him. "Thank you much, I haven't had fish in a while." He's just about to bite into the fish, but stops, remembering manners. "I'm Fish Bones, by the way." He waits politely, hoping the other will share her name as well.

Her mouth full of a hunk of fish that she had just torn free, the doe looked up at the other when he spoke, and as discreetly as she could wolfed down the meat. Mouth now empty, she replied, "My name is Cold-Blood. What're you doing out here? Looks like you've been in the water a while. Doesn't seem like you were out fishing, though this is a nice place for it." She went back to eating her fish, a little more conservatively this time. She kept an eye on the buck as she chewed, looking him over to maybe figure him out a bit.

He sighs, nodding. "It would be, if I could fish, or hunt at all. I'm just wandering about, exploring." He didn't bother asking her why she was out here, she'd answered that question already. Instead he bit into the fish, pulling off a chunk and chewing it thoughtfully. Deciding he liked this meal better then the last, he sets into eating with a single minded determination.

"Mhmmm," She agrees, not bothering to open her mouth as she is busy with her own fish. She takes the time to gnaw through all of the easy-to-get-to meat before gently picking through the spines and the finer pieces of fish flesh. Keeping one eye on the buck, she notices that he seems to be enjoying his meal too, and doesn't disrupt him once she has finished with her own. Instead, she picks it up by the tail, walks over to the edge of the water and tosses it back in for other fish to finish off. She takes a moment to stand at the edge and look out over the water.

Fish Bones takes his time, doing his best to pick around the bones. As he reveals each section of skeleton, he picks the bones off then dumps them in a pile beside the fish. After he's cleaned as much meat, and bones, from the carcass as possible, he too stands, and follows Cold-Blood's example of tossing it in the water. He stands there, wanting to get back to his pile of bones, but not wanting to seem rude, or odd for his collecting habits.

When the buck joins her at the water's edge, she turned her head to look at him and says, "What are the bones for? The ones you picked out, I mean." She cast a quick glance over to indicate his little pile. She was more observant than most were used to, and would not be surprised at all if he were caught a little of guard at her question. She turned to face him fully, awaiting his response.

He glances back at the pile, his mind looking for something close enough to the truth so as not to be an out right lie. "Um.. Well when they are uh.. dry I sorta just nose them around. To uh.. see what I can make." He knows he doesn't sound convincing, but Fish Bones isn't about to admit he keeps them to try and recreate the place from his naming dream. He feels a small ping of guilt, though, for not being fully truthful. He banishes the feeling , however, telling himself he didn't really lie. After all, he does have to push the bones around a bit when setting them into his pond.

She sees the buck struggle for words and an explanation, but questions no further. She gives a soft, "Hmmm..." and wanders over to his pile and gently pokes at them, spreading them out so they aren't touching as much. Bringing her head back up, she says, "Now they should dry out faster." She offers a soft smile and points to the bones with her front hoof.

He clamps his teeth down on an impulsive, and probably rude reply, after all Cold-Blood hadn't damaged his bones. Not to mention, he wouldn't even have them if not for her generosity. Instead, Fish Bones walks over to her, nodding. "Thank you." He looks for something else to say, but words fail him. Sitting on his haunches, Fish Bones alternates between watching Cold-Blood and glancing at the bones spread over the dusty ground.

Noticing him flinch when she touched the bones, she decides not to touch them again, but instead offers him a bit of advice. She nods once to say you're welcome, and then speaks. "You know... if you want to make them look even more pretty, you could do something else, too. If you can get your jaws on a small critter of some sort, like a rodent, you can use it's fat to make these shiny. Of course, they'll take a little longer to dry, but they'll be really pearly afterwards. That is... if it matters to you whether they look pearly and shinier."
At this, she wanders over to a patch of grass, lies down and then rolls over to flail a little bit, trying to get the ground to scratch at an itchy spot on her back. She stops for a moment to look at Fish Bones and adds, "I could help you catch something with fat, if you like."

Fish Bones shakes his head. "No thank you, they don't need to be shiny." He watches her roll around, a small smile spreading on his face. He knew well enough how irritating itchies are. "Need some help?" He asks, stepping over to her.

Cold-Blood nods at him, in response to his answer and continues to flail a little bit before he asks if she needs some help. She stops, looks up at him and offers another soft smile in return. "That would be much appreciated, Fish Bones." SHe rolls over to stand up and take that last step upto him, "It's itchy right between my shoulder blades... I can't quite... reach it..." As she's saying this, she attempts to get at the spot with her muzzle, but comes up just short.

He brings his muzzle down to her back, nipping at the spot Cold-Blood indicated, using just enough pressure to relieve the itch, but not hurt her. After a moment, Fish Bones raises his head. "Did I get it?"
