"Well..." Renatus said taking the final bite of eel, then pausing and placing a finger of thought on his chin. "You've met my family." he said putting the skewer that held the meat on the fire. "Why don't I meet yours?" he turned to her and smiled.

Lucinda stopped in the middle of a bite when he mentioned that. "Ummm..." she said as she tore the meat off.

"What?" Rentaus said, smile fading completely. "Why not?" He asked curiously.

"Well... It's just that I come from a rather traditional family," Lucinda said, carefully. "And they have certain expectations of me...."

"I see..." Renatus said looking down at his reptilian hands. "Well," He said looking up desperately, "All I have to do is be careful." he transformed into human, "If I just stay like this there shouldn't be any problems right?" he hoped that she would say yes.

Lucinda sighed. "well... Not as much of a problem...." she said, looking down. "I'm worried that they won't be civil to you."

"You think I'm not used to that?" Renatus asked rhetorically, laughing lightly. "Well, why wouldn't they be civil?" he said "I'm a gentleman am I not?"  

[Cecily D Aria]

"Not from a family that they are familiar with," Lucinda said, pressing her lips together.  

[Ean_arico]

"Ah." Renatus said. He looked defeated for a few seconds, before lifting his head. "How many arranged partners did they have for you?" He asked still looking defeated.

"Nothing was ever official, but believe me, my mother tried," Lucinda replied, moving closer to him. She put one of her hands over his.

Renatus smiled, still looking down. "Well thanks for not giving into her wishes." He said moving his eyes up to look at hers. "We could always say that I am from a family they know." he suggested, not really believing in the scheme.

"I don't think that would work," Lucinda said gently. "And I don't regret falling for you. Not for a second. I just don't want them to hurt you or anything."

"I understand." Renatus said, "But whats the worst that could happen? They say, 'I dont like you.' and treat me like most of humanity?"

Lucinda looked saddened by this. She didn't like the idea of anyone treating him poorly.

Renatus sighed. "Look, if you don't want to thats fine. It was just a suggestion." he said smiling comfortingly.
