Late at night, a thief was on the prowl over at the Republic's outpost. For the time being, he was without his zoid. And that was the exact reason why he was here right now. His lightning saix had been damaged pretty badly recently, and he was in need of a few components to be able to repair it.

Needless to say, it wasn't easy getting anywhere near this place, considering its natural and human-made defenses. But, he managed. This one raid took weeks of planning in advance to gather the information he needed to try and increase his chances of success. Still, no amount of preparation would really knock away the risks there always was with this sort of thing.

But it was that risk that he loved. And the challenge of doing work at this base only made things better. The fact that he needed the item of his objective quite a bit was a bonus as well. Putting his freedom (along with his life possibly) on the line, one of the things he valued most, was definitely worth the thrill of this whole expedition.

So as he crouched down in the shadows, staring at a small screen of some hand held device, he waited for the opportune time to move on. He may have made it into the walls of the outpost, but that was only the beginning.

The faint glow of a small penlight bobbed slightly in the darkness as the clinks and clanks of something being taken apart came from a Lightning Saix near the back of the garage. The Zoid was in the midst of being repaired, so it made the job easier for the one that was currently taking it apart...just a bit though.

"Fwa da?" Muffled words came out of his mouth while the penlight was clenched between his teeth. The part he wanted was suck in a mess of wires and pipes....Scratching his head with a clueless expression, Ryn glanced left and right before spying a monkey wrench and some clamps someone had left behind before. "HAH! Zaths wight! Thiths will work!" Grabbing the tools, the clanks resumed as the rouge pilot dove deeper into the zoids' inner workings.

Slowly, he made his way into one of the garages where the zoid he needed was. While Lightning Saixes weren't normally found with the Republic, he had caught wind awhile back that they had commandeered one or two. And personally, he felt it would be easier getting into the Republic outpost rather than the Imperial one.

As he approached the large mechanical cheetah, he narrowed his eyes as they caught a glint of light. Just as his ears picked up on a voice coming from around the zoid. Who would be working on this thing at this time of night? And further yet, why wouldn't they have turned on the lights? It didn't quite occur to him that someone else had the same idea as himself here.

Carefully, he continued to advance in silence, before quickly drawing out his weapon, pointing its tip towards the stranger's throat.

"Mind stepping away from the Saix?" he asked quietly, wondering if he should just try to knock out the guy right now.

A cry of triumph came forth when Ryn finally managed to clear away the wires, leaving a mess of oil, wire bits, and metal shards on the ground while the part itself was in perfect view and within easy reach. The rouge could almost hear the holy music coming from out of nowhere. Unfortunately, the holy music decided to cut off from a broken record. For as he reached out to grab the valuable zoid part...

Ryn grimced as the sharp edge of the weapon made a tiny cut on his neck. Spitting out the penlight, he kept still with one hand lingering near his pistol which was strapped to his thigh and hidden by his trenchcoat.

"Hey...easy buddy.." The care-free rogue grinned but didn't turn. This person was good with a blade and could lop his head off or something...and Ryn like his head. Kinda needed too.... "Um....What's up?" The question ended with a nervous squeak.

"Nothing really. But if you want to keep your head, you best not shout out for your buddies."

The thief noted the stranger's posture, and as he examined what was going on, he found it odd that a repairman would be doing this. His attire only pointed further that he was not of the republic army.

"Though it looks like if you did, you'd be in just as much trouble as me," he said before slowly moving his sword away. He'd still need to be careful, but at least this guy probably wasn't with the Republic.

"What are you after? Hopefully it's not what I need."

"Buddies? What buddies?!" Ryn gasped and rubbed the sore spot on his neck as the blade pulled away. Spinning around on his heel, he blinked and stared at the black-clad person; he had half the mind to pull out his gun and point it at the unknown to return the favor...

Nah, that would come later. Turning back around, Ryn reached out and grabbed his fallen penlight before pointing it at the broken-down zoid. "Darn tootin', partner! If the priss-coats caught me in here, they woulda done what you were about to do. That or I woulda gotta a faceful of lead." Moving closer, he kicked aside a large sheet of metal. "What i'm after? Some zoid part or whatnot that CHief wanted...Um..." Pulling out the note from his jacket pocket, Ryn skimmed it over before stuffing it back into the pocket. "I gotta swipe these here wires that connect to the Saix's core. The core itself just be a bonus and why am I telling you this? I gotta get back to work, 'kay? So....go! Shoo! Bye bye!" Making a shooing motion at the unknown person, he grabbed and pulled at the core with one hand and the wire cutter with the other. When they sold this, the group would have a lotta money for food and resources they needed.

For now, he sheathed his weapon, crossing his arms some as he listened to the other rogue's words. For the most part, he didn't really care, until he mentioned the core wires. It was those wires he needed to get his zoid back up and running. And as crucial as they were, there wasn't really a way he could go about without them.

"Woah hold it. I need those wires, so why don't you go run along and swipe another zoid's core cables?" he said as he reached out to try and keep him from swiping out the wires.

The thief didn't really like the looks of those wire cutters, and the last thing he needed aside from getting caught was to get the goods damaged.

Unknown to the thief, Ryn knew what he was doing with the wire cutters. Damanged parts ment less money and less money ment less resources back at camp. And that usually ment an angry leader; no one back at the camp wanted the Chief breathing down their necks for a bad job done....

Glancing back at the other intruder with a raised eyebrow, Ryn held up one of the wires before pointing at the other Saix stored in the garage. "You want these? Then go flinch 'em from that other Saix, this one here is now officially rogue property!" Making another shooing motion, he went back to what he was doing.

Better to get this job done quickly...who knew when the priss-coats lurking in this base would come a-prowling!

"I know it's rogue property. That's why it's mine. And can't you see how badly damaged that other saix is? It's practically scrap metal at this point. You go filch from that zoid," he whispered lowly.

Frowning at the other rogue, the thief glanced around quickly to make sure their squabbling didn't attract unwanted attention. If they were lucky, the republicans were all sleeping soundly without a care in the world. Though as it was, he could hear some faint footsteps from somewhere else in the hangar.

And then... the lights were flipped on.

Hissing at the sudden change in brightness, he ducked down quickly. This wasn't a good sign of how things were to go.

Ryn simply glared at the other and gave no answer as he made an attempt to finish what he was doing. That's when the lights flipped on and his rival fled into the shadows.

Yelping quietly at the sudden brightness, Ryn abandoned his tools and scampered over to a very large box laying on it's side; manuvering it so he was hidden from view by hidding in it, the rogue used the handle as an eyeslot.

What had woken these people up? It wasn't his workings....hopefully. Was it the spat he and that other dude were having?

The thief could hear several footsteps nearing the saix, but he didn't dare to peek out. The other guy had went into hiding as well, as far as he could tell. He might have been competing for the same parts as the other rogue, but they were both in this now. Depending on what went on, he'd probably end up trying to help him some.

Standing by the large box that Ryn hid in, one of the Republican soldiers looked about with his gun at hand. He and two of his comrades had heard a few things coming from this hangar while doing some late night duties. It wasn't likely that any of their mechanics would be working in the dark here, so they could only guess that it was either some bandits or some saboteurs and the like.

"Hey, there's a big box here. Was it always here?"

"Probably. Just leave it alone. It probably has some parts for this saix here."

Ryn eyed the Republicans with EXTREME dislike, fingers itching to pull out his customized handgun from it's holster and just fire a few rounds at each of them....

Had it not been for that large gun one of them was carrying....

Quietly pulling his gun from the holder strapped to his thigh, Ryn carefully and quickly loaded a few light blanks into the slots. If this got ugly (and he was betting it would) they would have to high-tail it out of there. Luckily Syn was stationed outside the Base and ready if anything like that came up.

Remaining as silent as possible, the thief strained his ears to try and listen to the soldier's movements and such. He kept a hand at the hilt of his weapon, in case someone decided to stray too close to him. If he could help it, he'd get away from here with what he needed and without having to run or fight. Grinning to himself a bit, he started to think of ways he might be able to go about things best.

One soldier remained by the box while the other two moved around to search the area for any lurkers. As one neared the more shadowed areas by the Saix, he soon let out a startled cry before grunting and falling silent.

For now the guy had just been knocked unconscious. No need for unnecessarily killing after all. But it alarmed the others there, as they quickly began to make their way to see what or who was there.

Ryn, still hiding in the box, eyed the thief as one soldier "disppeared" into the shadows while the other remained on alert. No doubt that others were gunna be bursting into the hall soon too.

Hm...Slowing lifting up the box, the rouge slid out and scampered into the unoccupied shadows lingering behind some empty crates near the ZOIDs. Pulling out his trusty handgun and popping open the barrel, Ryn quickly loaded in a few "rounds" before he shut it and grinned. Whoever that was he was arguing with before, no doubt he was gunna call him stupid for what he was about to do.

.......... Ya, who cared what he thought! Turning off the safety, Ryn jumped out from behind the crates and aimed at the soldiers. "OY! PRISSIES! EAT LEAD!" The flash blanks folllowed suit as he fired, sending out at least three rounds of light sound and smoke before he fled to the door.

Of course, not before he poked fun at the soldiers by mocking them. "NAH! CAN'T CATCH ME!" He pulled down the bottom of his eye and stuck out his tounge before high-tailing out of the garage.

Before the second soldier could come into his area, the thief could see several bursts of blinding light and smoke, which effectively grabbed the guard's attention. Shaking his head as he had been blinded somewhat as well, he heard the other rogue shouting out a few taunts.

He must be nuts...

The guard had already started to run off after the loudmouthed rogue, taking aim with his rifle. Just as he was about to pull the trigger a couple of times, something hard and metallic hit the back of his head. Needless to say, he slumped down without another word.

After looking down at the guard he had just knocked out, the thief started running towards the exit as well. Sure, the Lightning Saix's parts were now free to take, but he would have to get the things he needed another day. Chances were that someone had heard those shots the other guy had fired off.

With a grin, he made it outside and glanced about to see if he could catch sight of the other rogue. And not too far behind, he could hear a few voices that probably weren't all too friendly.
