She halted as she drew nearer to the stream. Off in the distance, she could hear a peculiar jingling. Craning her neck to peer over the top of the grass as best as she could, her attempted to get a look at what was making the sound. "Confound these stubby legs." She mumbled some but reared onto her hind legs to add some height to her scouting.
Pausing, she stood ready to stand and fight or even run if really needed. Not that she was a fan of ever running but skinwalkers weren't worth fighting. It was often better to just run and get to safety if one could with those creatures. She waited, watching the direction she's heard the jingle coming from. She could see the movement of the grass being pushed aside as something made it's way through. Her head wings flared open as she waited before finally she cleared her throat. "Hello!?"
Dropping to stand normally, she listened a moment, waiting to hear if she'd get an answer. It was risky letting one's self be heard in such tall grass. However, if it were just another soquili, and one that meant no harm, wouldn't it be polite to let your presence be known? She thought it would have been. Though her taller companion might have argued the Danger out weighed the risk. Her companion might have been right on more than one occasion, but sh figured nothing risked nothing gained today. She wasn't a daft mare, She knew she was leaving herself vulnerable by making herself known. But hadn't she been training all this time so that she wouldn't have to be in constant fear of everything?
'Enough of this waiting.' she thought to herself as she pushed further through the grass and reached the stream. At it's bank she was more visible. more vulnerable if anything nasty tried to attack and make a meal of her. The wings on her head opened and closed slowly, fidgeting in time with the ones by her tail. It wasn't often that she was on edge or nervous. However sitting as the proverbial sitting duck as she waited to be answered, it made her feel like electricity danced over her body. She was jumpy, and that wasn't usually a good thing to be. Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath and let it out slowly, calming her mind so that if anything happened, she could react best to the situation. She needed to be calm and poised.
Dropping her head, she took a sip from the cool clear water. It was refreshing and she felt more energized than she had been before. The water was a welcome thing as she allowed herself to take some more. Her ears were perked, swiveling about as she listened on. Who would be the one to answer? Her mind wondered as silence hung on the air. The main question was were they friend or fiend? For ill or good she'd wait to see who belonged to the jingle for it was certainly drawing closer now.
