Throek was outside the wall, once a big deal, now not so much. The walls of the mountain were a protective barrier, one the pride had worked hard to shed, finally. His opinion on the matter was very positive. This was a good change, a necessary one. The prides survival depended on it, again that was opinion though.

"Wonder what they have found..."

The words faded quickly as he walked, paw step after paw step. They dragged a little slower then usual as he enjoyed the softness of the ground below each paw pad. It was unusual at first, of course most of their pride had been out now and again, but the ground their paw pads had grown accustomed to was hard, tough and covered in small stones.

The softness was a gift. One Throek would take advantage of at every chance. For now, though he was enjoying the journey for just the sake of it, he did have a purpose. He sought out some of the hunters, just to get an idea of what the kills would be like. The thought excited and stirred him to move a little more quickly.

Nose up, ears pricked he began his search.

Though in a sense he shared Throek’s excitement to leave the mountain, it was more to a lesser degree. The mountain had been their home for countless ages. Leaving it had not been a simple decision for Dara. Had it not been for the fact that everyone had become ill and weak he would have probably suggested they stay.

With that said though, Dara was learning how wrong his mindset on the matter had been. Never minding the fact that the ground was soft and pleasant to walk across, the land at the base of the mountain had types of prey food that they had never encountered before! It was somewhat breathtaking how many different kinds of meat there was. He had never really considered that creatures with striped backs or large-deer-things ever even existed!

He and a small group had just finished off hunting one of the striped-backs as Dara was beginning to refer to them as. The others in the party had gone to go find new prey, but Dara stayed behind to start tearing away strips of meat from the striped-back. The meat would be hauled to newly claimed dens for feasts, or at least so long as he was charged with delivering them they would be.

He continued to tear and organize bits and pieces of meat from his catch, his guard down and completely unaware of his surroundings.

Paw step after paw step the large orange lion dragged himself further. Privately taking severe joy out of how beautiful and soft things were. Not long after his search began he did end up finding what he was looking for. Throek spied the carcas first though, then the hunter. This one went by the name of Dara - a hunter he wasn't entirely familiar with, but he played his role very well. It was no shock that Throek hadn't seen him at first, the pelt of this lion was ideal for hunting out here, it was almost unbelievable.

"Dara."

He cleared his throat a little and prepared a warm smile. "What a fantastic prize!" The council member proclaimed. That it was, all striped like - there was little variety in what the pride ate. Majority was small game, enough to survive. These would be a pleasant treat for all.

"I take it the hunts have been going well?"

The hunter almost leaped out of skin. He hadn’t actually expected to be approached at all while he prepared the meat, but it was something of a delightful surprise. “Throek.” Dara nodded. He was slightly curious as to why the Fin`Tuz was out and about right now, but Dara quickly came to the assumption that maybe he was just exploring the land, seeing what new spots and places it contained.

He smiled. It was nice to receive even a small amount of praise for his efforts towards hunting. “Very, there’s enough food down here to keep us well fed for weeks!” Dara exclaimed merrily. Soon the whole pride would be well-fed and back on their feet again. Strong and healthy thanks to all the catches the other hunters and he were successful enough to bring back.

He nodded to the dead zebra, “The striped-ones like to travel together in large groups. It makes hunting them a bit more…” He paused as he sought for the right word. Not difficult, because even if it was difficult the difficulty only added to the thrill of the hunt... “Interesting.” He decided on.

All the while Dara was speaking Throek was gazing at the hearty striped creature with amazement. "In groups?" He was puzzled, curious and had an ever growing amount of pride in the hunters. This was amazing, definitely a pro for their leaving the safety of the walls.

"You'll have to share our profound thanks to those that are handling these tasks. This is beyond what we could have imagined. So you think we'll be set for a while, just after one hunt? Are we that lucky to have such fertile lands?"

The shock couldn't really be hidden from his voice, the council member seated himself and prepared for the answers. This was surely something that needed to be brought back to his brethren, especially their Jun, Alduin. He would be pleased to know the efforts he was making weren't going poorly for them. It'd be something to ease his mind. The orange lion smiled at the thought.

"Yeah, almost like their own little prides." He laughed. Herd was the word he had been searching for, not pride. Only Dara rarely, if ever had used that word before. Aside from maybe a goat or two he'd spotted up on the mountain the term Herd couldn't have been used to describe any prey-groups up there... Little creatures usually traveled solo, he noticed. Down here was different, things grew bigger then a couple feet tall and they traveled together in larger numbers. Hunting them was a new type of challenge, a new form of excitement that Dara enjoyed every bit of.

He couldn't help but grin at the council member's reaction. "I do believe so! It's amazing all of the different prey was just waiting for us out here." He gave a brisk wave of his paw to indicate he was pointing to the surrounding area.

"Of course, it's a lot harder to hunt them, but I think that makes it more fun." He added. Not all hunters would likely share this mindset Dara had, but at least he was enjoying himself.
