[OFFICE TOT] Neither Tricking nor Treating (Brenley)

Bren wasn't quite sure what trick or treating like a human was meant to teach him, but many of Amityville's instructors seemed keen on encouraging them to do so this year, so trick or treat he would. His costume was a bit of a concern as he could hardly wear the one he had scrounged together for Professor Selene as it made absolutely no sense, but in the end he decided to go as a doctor, if only because it was a plain enough outfit to throw together at the last minute.

The first office he wandered past wasn't an office at all. It was the back of the creepeteria. Here, a lunch lady he had never seen before, Ms. Caroline, was asking students to decorate cupcakes. Again, he didn't know what he was meant to learn, nor, for that matter, what cupcake decoration had to do with trick or treating, but he gave it a shot willingly enough, recalling the Xmas decorating he had done with Piper a few years back. He might have injected a bit too much fun into this one, which from the look on Ms. Caroline's face, was supposed to be spooky,

Without a word, he decided to try again.

The boil chose black icing this time, as well as a handful of little stereotypical ghosts and tombstones. He carefully set them into the icing in rows, looking to Ms. Caroline for approval when he was done. She did not approve.

All right. Determined to make his cupcake as spooky as possible this time, Bren grabbed a tube of white icing, since black hadn't done it for the woman. He carefully smeared some over the top of a blood flavored cupcake, then took some thinner, transparent red icing and drizzled it over the top, letting it drip onto the plate beneath. Taking a knife, he sliced it in half, sticking some gum, jello, and more icing in the center. It was a bloody, brainy mess, and while he thought it was unnecessary and a little disgusting, he was sure the teacher would like it more than his other two attempts. Sure enough, he received a single candy for his effort, and he pocketed it before moving on.

professor darcy

Professor Darcy. Bren didn't know him from any other dapper vampire at this school, but the shadowy mist emanating from his office reminded the boil of what Lock could do. He stepped inside, pushing past the temporary blindness and moving toward the candle. He got a whole two steps before he almost tripped. How had he made it so dark? He supposed there was no time to ponder that now. He should just get in and get out. He took a step. This wasn't going to work at all.

"Hello? Professor? Would you object to me bringing a light into your office? I can't really see much of anything."

There was no answer so he did it anyway, figuring Darcy would correct him if he didn't like what he was doing. Instead of being scolded, however, Bren was thrown a handful of candy.

3: As you look to the bowl you tell the professor you cannot see too well and don't want to step on anything. He's approving of your honesty, and gets up to hand you a whopping 5 candies. One of them is even FULL SIZED. Honesty really is the best policy!

He moved on with his six pieces of candy, pausing at the door to Professor Pyre's office and peering inside. Brenley knew he wasn't the best with minipets, but the thing didn't look that unmanageable. On the way to the bowl, the boil retrieved a feather, his horrible, ineffective plan seeming more and more doable as he approached. He waved at the creature, bringing the feather up to tickle its nose. Rather than sneezing uproariously, the candy guardian let out a demure achoo, sliding a candy across the table to the boil.
