With a small sigh, Aedan looked around his dorm room with a feeling of dissatisfaction...it was Halloween, a favorite holiday of his, and he had done nothing to decorate his dorm room. Grunting as a small, furry body landed (quite hard) on his stomach, Aedan shoved Actaeon to the side before scooting Chaeia over in a far more gentle fashion, and sat up, swinging his legs over the side of his bed.
Maybe decorating would help snap him out of the feelings of apathy he'd been struggling with over the last months...
Sliding on a clean t-shirt, and picking up his messenger bag off the floor after waiting a moment for Actaeon to scamper inside, he headed out to see what he could rummage up...
When he returned, a (relatively) short while later, he couldn't help but think that it was fortunate that Halloween was such a major holiday - there had been no shortage of available decorations, even so last minute. Setting down a few bulging bags, he got to work.
Stringing candy corn was a lot harder than he'd thought it would be - not only because a number of his minipets had decided that it was the tastiest substance known to...anyone, and so kept trying to pilfer the pieces he'd already strung, but also because it kept breaking apart. However, he did believe it had been worth it (his back might not agree when it ached for the next day or so, but a boil had to do what a boil had to do, sometimes).
He'd hung strings of candycorn from the ceilings, extending from all four corners (in fact, he'd even done multiple strands hanging across the wall that faced the door, since that was the first one he'd see upon entering). He'd also tied small strips of orange and black paper to the strings, to make it seem a little more festive, still. In one corner, posed as if terrified was a human skeleton (he'd been assured it was genuine; if it wasn't, it at least looked realistic), and he'd set a skull-shaped candle on his desk, to be lit later. Additionally, he'd opted to carve a number of apples and small gourds, and scattered them throughout the room (they were smaller, and so easier to carve), although he'd also caved and bought one large pumpkin, which he had carved and set up with one of the apples to appear as though it was eating the frightened smaller produce item. He had also set up a couple of the other gourds to appear as if they were either fleeing the pumpkin in question, or in one case, as if they had already been demolished by it.
Up next to his desk, he'd set up a small cooker with a cauldron on top, and in it he'd put pumpkin cider, although he'd added a few floating eyeballs (and possibly a couple of toes) for appearance's sake. Throw in a few swaths of black material on the walls, and he was quite pleased with the effect - especially for it having been such a last minute endeavor.
Actaeon appeared rather pleased with himself as well (likely due to all of the candy corn that he'd eaten), and was curled up in the closet, snoring softly. Smiling to himself (for what felt like the first time in weeks), Aedan decided that maybe, just maybe, he'd go out tonight...while he hadn't been paying enough attention to what was going on around him to have been aware of what was planned for tonight, as he'd hoped, he was indeed feeling a lot more like himself, and found that he had no desire to stay in his room, but rather would enjoy being out around his peers - what were the odds that there wasn't something organized for tonight? After all, it was the most important holiday of the year...
