Callie was quite excited when she heard about a costume contest for mini pets. She didn't like dressing up in odd costumes herself, but she definitely enjoyed dressing up other things. The nagual brought along her little spring bunny major, whom she liked to call 'Sir' or 'Little Sir'. The little guy's temperament was pretty lax, but no critter really likes to be dressed up against their will.

She had signed up and been assigned to do the contest with another ghoul named Saoirse. Callie wasn't sure what she looked like, but was pretty sure she had heard of them in passing. They were supposed to be quite pretty, so Callie couldn't help but be a bit shy about it all.

Well, she had to get out of her comfort zone sometime. Cuddling Little Sir in her arms helped a little, at least.

Honestly, when it came to making things pretty or dressing them up, Saoirse wanted all the things. Everything could stand a bit of sprucing up, so instead of just one minipet to take to the contest she was carting around an entire crate full of them.

She'd pick one when she got there, that sort of decision couldn't be rushed.

For now she was looking for a ghoul she didn't really know. It wasn't really a surprise, she didn't know most people still, so at least it would be a good chance to meet Callie and possibly forge a relationship. Alliances were better to have than not after all.

Finally she spotted someone that matched the description she'd been given and she called out, already striding toward her. Well, as much as one could stride when leaning to compensate for the large minipet crate that took both hands to manage. "Excuse me, are you Callie?"

When Callie heard her name, she turned around and saw someone approaching her. She couldn't help but feel a bit more shy as they approached; they were a lot prettier than she first thought. With her left arm, she held Little Sir, maybe a bit too tight. The other hand she used to give the approaching ghoul a wave.

"Y-yes, I am," she responded a bit quietly. "It's very nice to meet you. Saoirse, correct?"

She looked at the crate in the ghoul's hands and couldn't help but wonder. What made her need to bring a crate...? Was it big, or dangerous? Callie really hoped it wasn't dangerous. "Is the m-mini you want to decorate inside your crate?"

Callie looked down at Little Sir and loosened her grip a bit. Didn't want to over-squeeze her little buddy.

She had to listen closely to hear the other ghoul, her voice light but clear enough. "Yes," she replied simply. She looked for a place to set her crate, and then sat on top of it gingerly, making sure her dress draped around her feet just so before turning her attention to Callie. It was delightful to see someone with multiple colors that actually coordinated, and with clothing that appeared to be taken care of. Far too many people she'd met (ie one) had felt like a single color made an outfit, and she'd seen others with dirty or tattered clothing. It was appalling, and she was pleased to see the person she'd been paired up with fit in neither of those categories.

"I brought a few minis," she confessed, feeling the crate move slightly as some of the minis jostled about. "Is that the one you've decided on? It looks absolutely precious already."

Still, she had no idea who she wanted to decorate, so Saoirse reached down, squeezed the twin handles of the latch together and allowed the door swing partially open. Then it was a matter of grabbing the first mini that tumbled out and quickly closing the door.

What ended up in her lap was her Forest Eon Elf King, it's long hair clearly needing brushed from it's encounter with a crate of other minis. "I guess I'll decorate him today," she declared cheerfully.

Callie watched as Saoirse sat down. It was quite interesting to watch her sit -- she did everything so elegantly. Part of her wanted to take... etiquette lessons from Saoirse.... Or something. Not like Callie would have the bravery to ask.

She couldn't help but peek inside the crate. "It looks a bit crowded in there," she said to Saoirse. "But I can understand not being able to choose just one." Callie just liked her bunnies, so the choice was not hard to make.

"Little Sir is a brat and probably doesn't want to be dressed up. I was thinking of doing to make him opposite of what he was." Callie looked at her bunny and thought. "Though I haven't really decided what exactly. I thought we could do a theme/paired costume though."

When she saw the Forest Eon Elf King, Callie let out a small gasp and it seemed like her shy-ness disappeared. "Saoirse, it's gorgeous! Doesn't seem like it need dressing up either! Though that would defeat the purpose of a dress up contest."

"A theme would be lovely!" Already her mind was whirring into action as she looked about for the box of supplies for costumes, sorting through some of the things. Taking charge wasn't a big deal to her, and unless there was a major protest she'd just charge on until stopped. "How do you feel about something gothic? Not punk or anything as ridiculous as that, but more Victorian? Thran here has all of this hair and it'd be a shame to let it go to waste, so I could do a little twist or something."

She had gathered a few bits of fabric and safety pins by that point, and a stretch of lace, eyes gleaming as she started putting stuff into place, somehow managing to keep the minipet on her lap as she did so. Soon enough it had a sort of dress on (and no, he did not seem happy about it) that was a nice purple, not too dark, and with a swath of black lace covering it to give an extra layer. To make sure it was all in place and no pins were to be seen there was a nice wide black ribbon in a large bow on his back.

His hair she was had combed out and was now working to twist it up, a hat set to the side to pin into place when she was done. Finally her minipet was styled to perfection and she looked up to see how Callie and Little Sir had fared.

"That sounds good!" She looked at Little Sir and smiled. "It would be interesting to see this little guy look a bit dapper despite he's already kind of creepy looking." Callie looked into the box that they were given for the competition and found a small top hat and material that could make a little vest and cravat. To make them match a bit more, Callie used a bit of the lace that Saoirse was also using.

Callie cut some black fabric and quickly sewed the small pieces together to make a vest. She was glad Little Sir was small because she probably wouldn't have enough time to make something nice with a larger mini pet. With some white fabric, she cut varying lengths and made the cravat.

It took a while, but once she was done, she looked up and see what Soairse had done. "They seem to look cute together!" She picked up Sir and moved him closer to Saoirse's Forest Eon. "Do you think they could win?"

Saoirse glanced around at some of their "competition" and scoffed. "Our pets are beautiful. Have you seen some of the other entries? If we don't win the judges are blind."

Even with all of her confidence she couldn't help but set the stage a little. The ground under the minipets seemed to turn into a rich looking carpet, lights appearing out of thin air to accent their minipets even more, and intricate spider webs looked like they were behind them almost as if they were walls. It made their entry just a bit more striking, a bit more special, and Saoirse smiled, her competitive nature rising to the surface.

They were so going to win this.

Or else.

The judge seemed to agree, and before long they were being awarded with a pair of "best in show" ribbons. "Thank you for competing with me," Saoirse told the other ghoul with a genuine smile. "You have a good sense of fashion." That was one of the highest praises she could give, and Callie had earned it.
