Jory didn't resist as Zaire drew him into his lap, long legs draped over one of the mahamba's legs. He leaned against the much taller monster, ran fingers over the back of one tanned hand as he listened to the other boil explain what he'd meant. "You give wonderful gifts," he interjected softly, the touch of a smile tugging at his lips before he was returning the nuzzle fondly, laying a kiss against his boilfriend's neck. Nerves settling again as easily as they'd riled. "I'm sure everything will be fine."

He stayed in Zaire's lap for the remainder of the ride, half curled against his chest with his head on the taller boil's shoulder, eyes on the far window so he could watch the scenery fly by them. Tracing light circles across the back of Zaire's hand and knuckles as his tail flicked idly against the floor of the car.

It started to dim, the light outside the windows fading and giving way to dusk and fog. Zaire's eyes cast faint bluish shadows, and there, outside the window, there seemed to be others. It had the smaller boil lifting his head, cocking it slightly to one side as watched. A swampy surrounding stared back at him from outside, and after a moment he looked up at Zaire, brows arched.

Wonderful gifts hm? The mahamba couldn't help but give a toothy grin up to the boil in lap, hoping that train of thought lasted when Jory figured this 'gift out'. Even though Jory didn't know it when the smaller went on to reassure him everything would be ok, the larger took it to heart and relaxed under the words. Letting them repeat in head as their surroundings warped and Jory stared out the window like a curious mini.

The abandoned buildings opened up to what looked like a small city square before they were turning and stopping in front of one of the better looking rickety apartment buildings. A shift in the seat and Zaire chuckled softly, slowly, "...surprise...I brought...uh... you home..for the weekend?" Blue eyes seemed stuck in that natural glow thanks to their surroundings and were now locked on Jory's face for reaction.

Before Zaire could get much further a slightly lighter tanned hand opened the door and a female mahamba with hair to match Zaire's only curly was grinning widely at the pair. "Well its about time you two got in! You must be Jory, ahhh, look how cute you are I could eat you up!" A flash from the elder monstresses skellyphone and she squealed.

"Mom.." Zaire practically groaned going a deep red even his boilfriend had never seen. "C-could...you at least ....let us get out before...all this?" A grunt and Rezia moved back with a giggle and roll of familiar glowing blue eyes.

Home?

Jory blinked, pale eyes widening a touch as the reality of what was happening dawned on him. Zaire had brought him home. Home. To meet his family. There was the immediate and likely expected rush of panic that came with the implications of such a meeting; an unfamiliar setting, new people jostling to talk to him, the pressure to make a good first impression. It brought a strangled noise to the afanc's throat as all that came crashing down over him, and he had to close his eyes, shut out the view of the swamp outside the window, and breathe. A count of five, the slow draw in of a calming breath, followed by the equally slow exhale.

Panic reined in, Jory could think more clearly. Zaire wanted him to meet his family. It was a big step, a meaningful one. It spoke of trust and commitment, and that was exactly what the smaller boil wanted from his boilfriend. So he opened his eyes to look up a the other boil, an unsure smile on blue lips, and tipped his head up to lay a soft kiss on his chin.

Then jumped as the door behind him suddenly opened, and a woman appeared in the opening. Jory froze like a pathling caught in headlights, and again baby blues went wide as the woman(Zaire's mother, he was left to assume) started talking at them excitedly.

She wasn't half as sedate as Zaire...

"Uh," he managed, uncurling a hand from Zaire's shirt to wiggle his fingers up at the other mahamba shyly. "Hi, yes. I'm Jory. It's, um." He blinked, temporarily blinded by a flash. " It's nice to meet you."

Lucky for Zaire, Jory was too overwhelmed to notice how terribly embarrassed he was by the whole thing.

When Jory's eyes closed a strong hand ran soothingly up back for comfort, the reaction was better honestly than the one expected. When eyes opened Zaire murmured low for only the other to hear, "...remember what ...I said. " If Jory ever felt like any of this was too much Zaire would be happy to leave, this was made clear by the look in glowing blues before they were interrupted.

A shake of the embarrassment and slowly he uncoiled from Jory to step out, giving his mother a look the likes of which pouted before stepping back even further. Out of the apartment building behind her a tall, slightly chubby mahamba male came out to wrap an arm around the woman. Peering inside the ride the older looking Zaire smiled slowly sharp teeth flashing. He was a glimpse into Zaire's future if the mahamba kept packing food away without exercise.

Zaire smiled slowly to Jory and offered a hand while speaking, "these...are my parents...my father Espoir ...and mother Rezia." Both of them smiled in greeting Zaire's father giving a soft hello as he went to take the bags from the back for the boils. "We'll be staying...with them this weekend.."

Jory followed Zaire out of the car, and much like he'd done when they'd gone swimming at the hot springs, he stayed glued to the taller monster's side, hand reaching automatically for Zaire's hand as he slid in just behind his boilfriend's left shoulder, baby blues peering over it at the other mahamba. He wondered what Zaire had told them about him. Jory himself hadn't shared much about his boilfriend with his parents, but then he also hadn't brought him home yet.

Small fingers tightened around thicker ones, but he side stepped a little so he was more or less standing at his boi;'s side, rather than hiding behind him. Other hand coming u pto offer Zaire's father a sheepish little wave. "It's nice to meet you, sir."

Espoir headed around to grab their bags, and Jory turned a questioning look up to his boilfriend, silently asking what's next.

Fingers interlaced with light blue ones giving the hand an almost tender squeeze. The actions did flare up a memory sense of the lake for the larger monster as well. But it was when Jory stepped to his side that tension from shoulders released and the monster smiled slowly in the proud moment. He had tried to warn his parents of Jory's shyness, asked or rather pleaded his mother to calm down if she wanted to meet him and for her this was calm. Everything was going good, at least so far and Zaire couldn't help but hold his breath that it would remain this way till their departure.

Glowing eyes watched his father as their bags were taken then moved towards the apartment building. For a moment Zaire paused wondering what the best course of action would be next. Of course while doing this his mother was already urging them inside to 'talk'. A glance down to Jory and he caught the look knowing it. The elder monsters started inside and Zaire waited back with Jory a second, hand shifting to run up a pale cheek and pull the boil into a kiss.

One abruptly broken with a sharp grin, "...don't leave me because of my family...... aright?" Teasing or mostly he gave a gentle tug to guide the other inside. There they would climb two fights before hitting the sightly less molded door of the building, 306, upon entering Jory would be taken by the scent of fresh cleaning supplies since Zaire's mother wanted to make a good impression.

Much like this boilfriends dorm it would be dimly lit and feel a touch moist due to the lukewarm temperature inside. But unlike Zaire's dwellings the room was littered with family photos, a large comfy couch with obvious handmade kitting covers over it laying to suggest moments before their arrival Zaire's father had been either napping or asleep there. Espoir branched off from the living room calling as he went that he was going to put their bags in Zaire's old room, a room that hadn't been touched since the monster left.

Rezia now noticing the pair were a little tight on eachother and remembering her sons words moved to a mantle above what looked like a large minipets bed. "Jory screechie come here!" She motioned for him picking up a picture and holding it out, "I'm sure you want to see just how cute Zaire use to be!" Zaire's hand tightened at the picture pull and his tanned cheeks reddened darkly. She had too didn't she! If Jory braved it he would find her holding a picture of a very young Zaire maybe a coupe years old grinning in just a diaper with the end of a minis tail sticking out of his mouth.

Jory too watched Zaire's father has he headed inside with the bags, and Jory would have followed, expecting he was supposed to, until a soft pull on his hand stopped him, had him turning to look up at the mahamba with brows raised. A brush along his cheek, and the smaller monster smiled, leaning into the touch before he was being drawn into a kiss.

Jory made a soft sound against the other boil's lips, free hand rising to lay on a muscled chest, and he chuckled himself when the taller monster pleaded with him not to leave him. "Alright." Zaire's parents seemed overbearing, sure, but they were also nice, and they obviously cared for their son.

They headed inside, and Pale eyes flicked around the living room before Zaire's father disappeared down a hall, and his mother went for the mantel, summoning him over. Long ears dipped, a quick glance turning to the boil beside him, then he was walking closer, fingertips sliding reluctantly free of Zaire's unless he happened to come with him.

Rezia handed him a photo, and the afanc peered down at it, smiling brightly as he took in the sight of his big strong boil . A happy scareling, with a healthy appetite, even then. "You were very cute," he agreed, looking up to flash Zaire a sly little grin.

Zaire could have died, why the picture, she had done this with Helki too. The mahmaba moved with Jory as the other reluctantly released his hand. His own hands moving to pockets and head shaking as Jory grinned slyly up to him. "Mm.." It was all that was offered to the cute comment, Jory would be punished later for this but it was kind of adorable seeing him home.

Rezia cooed as she gently took the picture back and looked over the two, curiously then had to stop herself from asking about future scarelings. A grin from the elder monster and she moved away as Zaire's father came back into the room. Going to rest under his arm, "are you boils hungry? Dinners not ready yet but...Zaire you could take Jory out for a snack at one of your favorite places?" Zaire's father had whispered the last part of the idea to her, knowing the boils would want to escape just for a bit.

Zaire could always eat but he glanced to Jory, "sound good, or do you want to unpack first?"

Jory let Zaire's mother take the picture back, smiling up at her gratefully. It was kind of nice, getting to see what his boilfriend looked like as a scareling, getting to see where he grew up, his parents. He'd never gotten to do anything like this before, never dated before now. The idea of Zaire bringing him home to meet hi folks had seemed kind of terrifying one in the moments between realizing where they were headed and actually meeting the mahamba's mother, but now?Well, they were just so nice and supportive!

The afanc gave a small shake of his head as they were asked about being hungry, but Jory was seldom hungry. His appetite wasn't anywhere near as ravenous as the taller boil's.

"I'm not," he answered softly, smiling, before looking towards Zaire. "But if you're hungry we can go for a snack, I don't mind." They could always unpack when they got back. There was no rush. Besides, Zaire seemed a touch stressed, and Jory knew all too well how important it could be to just get away for a few moments and breath.

The mahamba never looked more relieved when Jory said they could go out and then unpack when they got back. Zaire flew on the chance moving to take his lovers small blue hand in his own. Holding and lacing their fingers together as he smiled toothily to his mother, "guess....we'll be back..later." Rezia nodded and smiled at the pair moving away after sitting the pictured down. Telling the two of them not to eat too much though because dinner was soon and she didn't cook for nothing.

When the female mahamba was out of the room Zaire grinned to his lover and murmured teasingly as he took Jory to the door, "just...forget about...that picture.." A wink of eye and the door as pulled open. Zaire thinking on where to take his lover and deciding for the moment to just walk until Jory seemed interested in something or until he remembered all the things he had planned but nerves made him forget.

Jory offered a little wave and a smile to Rezia as she set the picture back on the mantel and saw herself out of the room. She was a very nice woman, and very different than Jory was used to. His own mother wasn't unkind, but she wasn't anywhere near that warm, either. More reserved, like his father. Like most of his clan had been. Rezia was warm, and it was nice.

A blink followed as Zaire started leading to the door, brows arching at the request, but after a moment he shook his head, smiling back. "Not a chance. You were such a cute scareling." He was being a deliberate pain in the a**, and it wasn't like him usually, but he being with Zaire was making him bolder, more willing to step out of his usual comfort zone. Slowly, but surely.

Since they didn't have a destination in mind their pace was pretty slow, Jory having to stop every few moments as something caught his eye. His own home was wide open, chill, full of large bodies of water and larger expanses of rolling hills covered in grass. This place was so much different. Trees everywhere, branches thick with hanging moss. The ground to either side of the road and walkway was wet, and Jory imagined anything that might have looked solid would likely see him sinking at least up to his knee. And where there wasn't land, if you could call it land, there was marshy bog lands.

That attitude was something it spurred a fire in Zaire that had a hand swatting at a** as they left. Playing back at it as he was unable not to encourage, "...so then..it would be best..if our.. scarlings look like me..?" Of course it was way to soon, and that thought had never passed his own mind, but it was fair game to tease with if it let him rile up Jory and win. Grinning a tanned head tipped lazily to the side and glowing blues settled to watch reaction while occasionally glancing back to where he was walking.

"Do you like it...?" He finally asked, fingers squeezing Jory's as they moved along. Wondering from the moment they had arrived if the slightly musty smell of the swamps bothered his boilfriend. Or if the fact that anywhere you walked the bottoms of your pants got wet no matter how tall you were. At least until you got into the main part of the city which Zaire was slowly leading Jory towards.

Round of the corner and a loud croak of a nearby creature sounded, a chorus of cricket type music chiming in behind. The monster laughed and swayed against Jory commenting softly, "clock..broke that's how we tell time.." Stepping closer on the broken sidewalk to the smaller monster so others could past, a clawed hand lifted lazily to where a large frog creature was croaking on the hand of a broken clock tower that looked fit to crumble to pieces.

The thick mossy branches opened in an arch under the path they were on and just to the other side sunlight broke in various patches though it was still dim. The glow of Zaire's eyes dimmed as he pulled Jory into a patch of sunlight, letting him over look a much more structurally sound part of the city. It looked old still but nothing was crumbling and the walk ways seemed stable, but more importantly water was being filtered through holes in various buildings that shot it out and below the city.

Scarlings were swimming in the water in various patches and further down boats carried those rare few whom visited around on quaint little tours.

The scareling comment was enough to steal all the color from Jory's already pale skin in a white blush as they walked, and the boil couldn't even come up with a response, witty or otherwise. He was speechless for a while after that, mind buzzing over the idea of little ones. It was too soon for that, much, much too soon for that, but...

Jory blinked at the question, startled back to the present, and he looked around them, eyes falling on the shops, the water, the kids playing in murky patches of swamp. It was a fair bit warmer than he was used to, murkier, but he found he did like it. Being used to the cold, built for chillier water, didn't mean he didn't like warmth. The ground was damp under foot, and the coolness of the mud felt good against the soles of his feet. The boil drew in a breath, a soft smile spreading along his lips, and he nodded.

"I do. It's lovely here." In a manner of speaking. It was different, pleasant, and Zaire had grown up here. Jory liked it.

Zaire one, Sassy Jory zero.

The monster took pride in the white wash that his boilfriend was in. It meant he won so and it meant that now Jory was thinking about their potential kids. Heh. Zaire didn't think he'd ever be ready for that kind of thing but the future was bright as long as Jory was in it.

"I do. It's lovely here."

The answer brought a flicker of red across tanned cheeks and a low masculine rumble from throat. Pleased obviously that it suited Jory enough for praise the monster was glowing in pride. A step from the light and blues glowed again settling on a little eyecream parlor across the way.

His hand reached back for Jory's on a smile, head tipping to motion the place. "That's...one of...my favorites. Want to...split a sundae? " Zaire was trying to be good, consume less sugar now that he wasn't working again. But it was hard, the monster had a sweet tooth fit to live in Valentines or Easter.
