There had been flyers everywhere.

Not to mention a collection of paraphernalia that was (presumably) sent out to everyone who owned a hive. The Modsat's were evidently no exception. Trusci sat at the table, clutching the tiny envelope with her tiny hands though her eyes were quite the opposite: wide. They had that sort of unmistakable excitement that, had it been worn on anybody else, would probably come across as endearing or cute. Flaunted by Trusci, it usually only meant trouble, caution be damned.

Duckmom had already given her a terse, but tired no the second she had retrieved the precious documents, though that never stopped Trusci and realistically it probably never would. Bloodfest. She always found herself drawn in by the multitude of advertisements every sweep—a chance to prove herself. A chance to lay down the law and show all those pushy pretentious highbloods just who was the on top. It was a rare opportunity to pull all the same sleazy s**t she did, but with a much higher chance of escape guaranteed (not that she didn't already escape unscathed; she was just that good). The entire event seemed like just the thing for petty fun and silly rivalries.

She loved that kind of stuff.

Or would, anyway. Will, she corrected herself mentally. She was going regardless of what her lusus said, bless her weary heart. A piece of Trusci almost felt bad. At times it seemed like her lusus grew more persistent, and at others she seemed to relent more. Trusci wouldn't call it giving up on her charge, not quite, but she was still giving up in a sense. She had another much more docile and precocious twin who was far better suited to the life of a momma's boy, so it only made sense to give up on the spit fire and focus where it mattered. She totally got it.

More fun for her in the long run, anyway.

Though, thinking about her lusus and twin... it had been a while since they all traveled anywhere as a unit. There had been that thing with the WACKY, right? And even then it hadn't quite been just them. That damn seadweller, ey were there. Dictys? Curtsi was way more enthusiastic about being paired with em than Trusci ever would have been, and she never gave the duo much attention during the incident. What had she been doing during that whole charade anyway? She couldn't remember, didn't really care, it was a while ago. Nothing exciting apparently.

But still, she wondered if ey'd be at Bloodfest. To be able to knock down a few highbloods sounded great to her, but a seadweller took the cake. What a great headline that would be: "Showy Seadweller Gets Destroyed By Totally Awesome Yellowblood" end quote. She knew the a*****e was aware of where her and her brother lived, maybe she'd bring it up the next time ey came over, if ey ever did. Hey, it happened, maybe a little more often than she initially expected, that troll was pretty into them...

There was naturally a certain consistency to Dictys' actions. With a troll like em, how could there not be? Ey had a carefully-evaluated decisionmaking hierarchy designed to prioritize what ey considered eir best investments. Right now there was a clear answer as to what eir best investments were. Cold? A little, perhaps, but the Modsat twins were telekinetic. Helmsman potential. A captain's most important relationship was with their helmsman. Dictys would depend on eir helmsman someday to go places, and eir helmsman would someday look to Dictys for support and guidance and material needs. Ey'd have to be their legs; that was a lot of pressure. It was necessary then to network early. So yes, it was predictable that Dictys make eir way over here in an attempt to persuade the twins to help em along again. And yes, it was also necessary

It wasn't like the Modsat twins were unpleasant, anyway. Well - to be honest Dictys only really had experience with the one. Sure, ey'd met the girl during the WACKY adventures, but she'd largely been overshadowed by Atiqua, who was objectively the most frustrating, aimless troll to ever pollute Dictys' line of sight. And only Curtsi had come out to support em at the disastrous gerbil races. He, though, had been a pleasant, supportive character, interested in working together toward a common goal. He'd be a valuable helmsman for a proud captain someday, and his sister would probably be similar...right?

Well, at any rate, this sweep's Bloodfest was coming up, and Dictys had been pleased to find that the newly-baptized Civisect City was opening the sale of booths to qualified citizens able to fund the running of a booth, in order to kickstart the economy and attract even more tourism (although, in all honesty, Dictys couldn't imagine where the hip trolls might be spending their time these days other than Civisect). And, like always, Dictys had a mind to show emself off. Easy, no? Dictys could easily declare eir interest in investing in Alternia's future by producing a booth with the goal of manufacturing ships for the fleet, and all the while meet like-minded citizens. It was the sort of thing Dictys couldn't imagine any amount of disdain for. Besides, it'd send a clear message that Dictys had ambition. It was with that in mind that ey was headed, again, for the Modsat hive. Booths could be run by groups of three trolls, after all, so they were really at the ideal headcount. And Dictys surely couldn't imagine that neither of them were interested, or that their lusus wouldn't allow them out. How preposterous! How could they network that way?

So Dictys stepped out of eir own mobile hive and smartly up to Trusci and Curtsi's hive to give it a quick knock. Ey was holding a small sheath of pamphlets - with registration information and a rundown of the scheduled events, among others - just in case the twins had somehow missed the deluge of advertising. It never hurt, right? "Hello there, my fine compatriots - it's Dictys Glauci," ey added helpfully. Yeah, who else had a purple gilded amphibious hoverhive and wanted to spend this much time in their presence?

The knock caught Trusci a little off guard. Could it...? Getting up to check through the window blinds, she let out a good hard laugh. Holy s**t, speak of the devil. She could even hear em talking through the door, voice albeit a little muffled, but sure enough it was exactly the weird sort of pretentious BS that she was expecting. Compatriots? What even was that anyway? Stupid highbloods using big words thinking they're better than everyone.

Digressing the thought process, Trusci Modsat still wore a pretty amused smirk as she pulled away from the blinds. Unfortunately for the seadweller, Trusci had no real idea where her twin nor her lusus were—probably out doing things, she didn't know, didn't pay attention and didn't really care—but on the folorn side of things that meant an evening dealing with whatever the heck Dictys wanted.

Which, as Trusci found, might not be too terrible as she swung the door open, eyes catching the pamphlets immediately. BLOODFEST; she resisted the urge to shout it out like she'd seen in the commercials, but holy crap was this guy serious? Ey seemed serious, godbless. She bit her tongue from saying much on the matter though, for now— what the heck was with that flying thing in the back?

Ah, whatever, focus; "I dunno' what you want," which was partially a lie; it was pretty obvious given the paraphernalia in eir hands, "But if you're lookin' for my bro, him and mom are out I think." Trusci tried to keep her eyes from glancing at the objects in eir hands, but failed miserably at it. Hey, if some highblood jerkward demanded she had to go do Bloodfest s**t with em, who was Duckmom to argue?
