Where: New Hemisect City, several blocks from the local Library by a series of alley ways and run down communal hivesteams. Postdate the recent Chittentown drought.

When: Late evening, sometime after 10PM

New Hemisect City said to be the largest city in all of Alternia. From its vast population to many attractions the bustling noisy hub is both a wonder and equally dangerous with its inhabitants. While many trolls call it home, a simple train ride connects it with most major towns and cities all across the planet. It also is not only home to those of wealth, but the less fortunate trying to scrap by a living.

While train rides meant spending time in close quarters with complete strangers, Stryke didn't exactly care in this instance. He desperately needed a distraction and some time away from Chittentown if only for a brief time. Recently, he'd lost track of Vremea during the height of the drought. She simply just wasn't at her local haunt. He'd gone to the local library as he'd done previously many times before and found no trace of her. While he knew his timing was off for arrival in New Hemisect City, it wasn't comforting to hear no one there had seen her recently either.

While worried, he could only hold out hope the yellowblood female was alright. He suspected there was a variety of reasons for this but it didn't stop him from trying to look. Leaving the library, a book under his arm and a hard line scowl on the yellowbloods face he couldn't help but feel alone. Which, given the faces of passing by strangers and in such a large city as this one he found the parallel strange.

Lost in thought, Stryke really didn't know where he was going. He wasn't familiar with neither the massive metropolis, nor its inhabitants only what he'd read in books and in brochures on the train ride over. Stryke looked up from his keeping his eyes on the ground realizing he'd wandered into a less than well maintained part of town. Poverty even in an empirical town like this one wasn't unheard of. In reality, he should have been watching his surroundings closer, or switched his wallet from his back pocket to front but the thought hadn't occurred to him as he moved along with SkinkDad in tow. "where the hell am i even.." he muttered quietly ignoring the disapproving hiss from his lusus at the given swear.

Stryke kept on, resuming walking aimlessly in exploration.

Zindel was on the lookout for a sucker to pick off tonight.

Simply not in the mood to use any amount of his meager beetles or dig through the garbage, the redblood safely watched trolls pass by from a spot quite aways from the trolls he was currently searching for. Wrenmom stretched a wing as she watched her charge with dull movements, not having the ability of flight to go and socialize with her pals in the sky— her wing was still slightly bent out of shape but Zindel didn't want to take any chances.

Analyzing their movements, he had 3 trolls on his radar— a finicky blueblood who seemed to know where they were going, an erratic orangeblood who looked a little better dressed than most, and a yellowblood who seemed.... Pretty lost. The blueblood was soon out of the question, as they glanced toward him and sorta... Gave him a stink eye. The orangeblood looked paranoid and nervous, and Zindel knew if he tried to swipe that trolls money, he was in for one hell of a bad day. The yellowblood however... He seemed clueless enough. Wandering aimlessly like an idiot in these streets? Could he be stupider? He was wearing nice clothes too, he probably had a some beetles on him, especially with that book in his arms. Smart trolls always had money! Usually. But they weren't smart enough to see him coming. Usually.

Standing up carefully, Zindel rubbed his nose slightly and prepared himself for confrontation, kinda stretching his neck and wiggling his fingers slightly. Alright, time to show'em how it's done, Zindel. He thought to himself, letting exhaustion slide over his body and wobbling around a little. As he hobbled over to the kid, he suppressed the want to smile— oh, this was almost too easy. The closer he got, the more he saw how much of a looser this kid looked like. Really, who wore vests?? What a dork.

With a soft "accidental" push and a deft hand, Zindel got all he needed. Now all was left way to escape. Hopefully unnoticed.

Stryke hadn't noticed anyone slowly approaching him, he'd been lost deep in thought as he took in the various scenery around him. He had hoped his lusus would have warned him, but no such fortune would be met in that exact moment. Skinkdad was equally as absent minded as he trotted along, tail dragging across the ground.

Really, Stryke had never even considered the possibility of being mugged. When he felt the push, he naturally reacted by flinching and recoiling as if someone had burned him. Yelping in dismay, Stryke shot the troll a dirty look. "sheesssh, why don't you watch where you're going?" He snapped as the other said nothing, and namely kept going. Breathing in and out slowly in attempts to comprise himself, he felt frazzled. His train of thought had been broken rather rudely.

He hadn't quite yet put two and two together.

Starting to walk forward again to resume his journey he realized something was off. Strange..his back pocket felt lighter. Stryke's eyes went wide in alarm. The overly possessive kid immediately checked to make sure he had everything belonging to him, and came up empty handed when lastly groping at his back pocket.

Glancing around on the ground, he initially thought simply he’d dropped his wallet. Doing a quick search back the way he'd come he groaned when there was no sign of it. His eyes turned back to the absconding figure of the troll whom made him nearly crawl out of his skin in shock mere moments ago.

Perhaps it was the way the shady looking kid moved as he padded away that tipped him off. If colours on clothing could be trusted, then the redblood had used the run in as a diversion tactic. "HEY!" Ryk cringed at the sound of his voice raised, already walking a bit faster after the other trying to get his attention. His suspicions the other was behind his missing wallet fuelled him to at least try and confront the other.

As soon as he heard the kid complain about Zindel bumping into him, he knew the jig was up. He kept his steady pace up for a second until he finally started sprinting away-- ********, ********, ********, he ******** up, RED ALERT! His mind blared, feet carrying him through the streets faster than he thought he could, eyes darting around. So much for being unnoticed.

It was ironic how in the moments he didn't want to be noticed, he usually was. Leaping over a couple boxes in the way, the redblood rushed out of view, pump biscuit pounding in his chest, being careful with Wrenmom in his sash and dodging any troll in his way. Thankfully he was agile— he swiftly ducked and jumped, twirling around and seeming almost like he was dancing in one of his acts.

Of course, he he had to mess up at some point. Zindel almost bumped into a highblood, eyes widening and quickly sidestepping. As luck would have it, Zindel had managed to step straight into a broken pile of glass that was being cleaned up. He let out a choked yelp before clapping a hand over his mouth to muffle the scream, the red blood looked around him to notice a couple trolls staring at him. He bit back the tears and looked down— A redblood holding a yellow wallet? He definitely looked suspicious. Shiiitt...

Giving them a terse smile, the thief looked weak as he limped away from the trolls, paranoid. Was the yellowblood still searching for him? At this point, he knew he was ********. Shuffling to a nearby alleyway, the curly haired kid let out more small whimpers of pain, shuddering and hissing. He slumped on the wall and lifted his foot, realizing that the cuts were quite dangerous— one had embedded itself too close to his heel. s**t... Maybe I could make myself look weak or something. Highbloods loved feeling better about themselves or whatever. He'd find a way to deal. For now, he needed to pick them them out. Sliding to the floor and cradling Wrenmom on his stomach, the redblood pulled the little pieces out carefully. He wished he was more experienced with this— he may have been good at taking things from others, but... He always messed up with the escaping bits...

At least the dumbass didn't realize it until last minute. He sighed as he awaited his upcoming doom, getting his most miserable face on— which actually wasn't too hard...

Stryke groaned as the other sped away. He was not willing to part with what was his, the very thought made him grind his teeth in frustration. no, that was his wallet dammit! There was no way in hell he was just going to turn the other cheek and let it go. Ever since the destruction in OHC, he'd gotten more fiercely protective over that which was his. It was easily one of his biggest issues with most any situation, and didn't respond well to the idea of just giving up. While nowhere near as fast and agile as the redblood, sheer determination kept his legs moving as he raced after the departing figure. The boxes posed an issue for the short yellowblood, having to scramble over them as he balking at the situation. He couldn't believe this crap; the still slightly chubby child huffed in anger as he dropped onto the ground after a quick climbing session.

His lusus easily scaled the objects with half the difficulty, giving his child a weird look for his being out of breath. He'd have to make sure they got out more often.

As Stryke tried to make sense of where the perpetrator had gone, he wandered around briefly before noticing some broken glass. Squinting at a red stained hue he crouched down to get a better look at the shards in the moon light, glad for the protective shoes he wore. Looking around for more signs of blood, he pursed his lips slightly as he scowled. If the idiot had hurt himself in fleeing, Stryke couldn’t very well ignore him if he was bleeding and in pain…no matter how ticked off he was with the stranger. Some thief, he’d screwed up royally by the looks of it.

A higher caste troll noticed how there was a kid walking around as if he was looking for something. Jerking his thumb to the left, Stryke followed the movement with his eyes as he noticed how trails of blood lead away from the initial pool.

Walking forward cautiously, he moved as quietly as he could. Crunch. Glass broke under his shoe making him cringe. Inching along, Stryke turned a corner down an alleyway, and came upon the curly haired sash wearing troll at last. Crossing his arms over his chest loosely, Stryke appraised him. The look on the others face helped to lessen his anger, he really had no intentions of hurting the other so seeing his pained expression was mildly distressing.

“ssso.” He began, gaze fixed on the troll. “a-ahb…” He was still trying to catch his breath as he sighed slowly.“about time i caught up with you…” He inched closer, still several feet away as he crouched down in front of the other knees to his chest as he glared at the other boy. “did you really have to run that ******** far?” As time passed, his racing pump biscuit slowed as he collected himself.

The patient troll seemed to keep a level head over the situation despite his initial ire. “anyway, two things. one. i sssaw the blood. how bad are you hurt?” He added, while annoyed he’d jacked his wallet he wanted to make sure the other wasn’t too badly injured. They’d discus the terms of the condition of returning what was rightfully his after he checked on him. It wasn't like he'd move that fast with an injured foot Stryke could at least take a small measure of comfort from this. His second question was on reserve until the other had something to say for himself, beside a wide eye'd horrified stare.

Just hearing the yellowblood's voice struck a knife through Zindel's pump biscuit. ********, he really hated confrontation... Looking up at the slightly chubby troll that had run up to him, he glumly resigned to his fate, expecting the worst... His complaints didn't help the redblood's situation, so he stayed quiet, waiting for the moment he could bolt away easily. Listening to his words, Zindel arched an eyebrow. He wasn't supposed to talk back, but... "Are you serious? What did you think I was gonna do, stay and wait?" He huffed, rolling his eyes— Well, if he was gonna die, why not be himself for a change? He was always someone else for everyone, why not... Just... Be himself?! "I ran for an obvious reason, dumbass." Maybe it was his irritation for being caught, or his irritation for his stupidity... Either way, he was bothered. Listening to Stryke, he stubbornly looked away, throwing a red coated shard in his direction. "None of your <******** buisness, yellowblood." Zindel stated, wincing as he pulled out another shard. He rubbed his shirt with the blood, eyeing him carefully before looking to the side. The redblood rubbed his eye and then sighed defeatedly, eyes dull and tired. He should've just slept in today...

Narrowing his gaze on the redblood, Stryke scoffed as he got snappy with him. "no, i figure if you're going to jack sssomething of course you run off it was honestly rhetorical more than anything." When the shard came at him, he wrinkled his nose as the red stained shard hit his sweater leaving a small stain behind. Flicking it off, not watching as it went sailing somewhere off to the side he shook his head.

Stryke huffed at the other glaring as he moved closer, crouching down in front of the other. "i'm not just my blood color, thanksss very much." He felt the hairs on the back of his neck bristle as he snapped back; feeling particularly lippy based on the others snarking at him. "it's stryke nvrmor, now shut the ******** up and let me look at that wound. it looks fairly nasty." He growled at the other as he set his bag down, grasping hold of his sweater near the bottom and producing one of his two daggers he kept on himself and peeled off a strip from the fabric.

"it won't be disinfected...so this might hurt a bit. sssorry." He cringed slightly as he leaned over and grabbed the others foot glaring at him, daring him to move. Quickly, the troll bandaged the other boy’s foot, without looking up as he knotted the grey fabric giving the tie a gentle tug once he was satisfied it was bandaged properly. His gaze slid over to the other's lusus, frowning slightly as he noted the bird’s wing. "was...your lusus injured? i can wrap them up as well." Stryke muttered quietly scooting back from Zindel with a calm, neutral expression on the long haired boys face.

This time when Zindel's eyes rolled, he made it a lot more obvious. Although... He didn't know the meaning of rhetorical. He just kinda stared at him for a sec before looking away, huffing. What a smart a**. He's obviously just some hoity toity yellowblood who has a best friend with highblood. That's where he gets his money. Rich kid.

After the yellowblood flicked the shard away, Zindel was left staring at him carefully, listening to his words. Not just a blood color, huh? Whatever... The redblood instantly tensed at his next words, however, especially when he heard him snap at him. Shifting his gaze to look back at the guy, his breath hitched in his throat and his face paled as soon as he saw the weapon. He stayed still as stone as the kid bandaged his foot, wincing and swallowing hard, only focusing on the weapon. Suddenly he kinda... Tightened it too much, and Zindel hissed, about to tug his leg away before remembering the dagger.

How easy would it be, to be stabbed by him right there and then?

He was barely even listening to Stryke's words, so when he offered to help wrenmom's wing, he sort of just... Blinked at him. He opened his mouth, about to say something snooty, when wrenmom suddenly slid off Zindel's stomach, hopping toward Stryke and fluttering her wings, actually deciding to trust this yellowblood— After all, he bandaged his own thief. Zindel was too untrusting, sometimes. "W-wrenmom, what are you doing?!" He asked urgently, watching her and about to reach out and grab her when he was suddenly nipped by her break. Zindel hissed and grabbed his hand, chirping at her a little while she chirped back angrily, discussing the integrity of the kid. Finally, Zindel shut up, crossing his arms and looking away, huffing. Somehow, Wrenmom trusted this guy...

"sorry, didn't mean to tighten it that much." Stryke winced when the other jerked slightly, looking apologetic. Tilting his head, he looked between the pair as they seemed to be arguing with one another. Bird fauna were not within his expertise of understanding, so the conversation was lost on him.

Briefly, he was distracted as Stryke's own lusus hissed in response to the lusii chattering. The yellowblood glanced back over his shoulder and reciprocated the gesture. yesss dad. everything is fine, we'll leave soon please relax. The yellowblood rolled his eyes as the lusus scowled at him but was relieved he didn't keep fussing him. If he'd believed they were in danger, Stryke wouldn't have stayed crouched down before the pair.

When Wrenmom fluttered her little wings he smiled some at the small creature. "hi there.." he murmured, wary of her beak but worked on he cutting another stripe of fabric off his sleeve, deciding this shirt was indeed ruined and would have to be thrown out...glad he had others back at his hive.

Stryke waited until Zindel looked back even if he'd huffed and looked away. He'd read enough random odd end books to know a lot of what he'd previously assumed was trivial information. In effect he was showing Zindel how to help his lusus should the bandages come off. "i'm going to move your wing, not sure if it'll hurt." He added, giving her head a soft pat. Once that was done, Stryke gently adjusted her wing so it wasn't bent at an odd angel. Carefully, he positioned the wing in a natural position. He then proceeded to wrap the bandage on the outside of the broken wing, and around the body under the healthy wing, making sure not to obstruct the other one. He didn't tie it tightly, not wanting to prevent her from breathing comfortably.

"there." He sat up from being hunched over, rolling his shoulders satisfied he'd done what he could for the lusus. "hey uh, i don't know your name redblood..but look. it's not like i'm rich..i however have a ticket to ride back home. if you really need the beetles fine keep them. but give me back my wallet at least?" He sulked at the other, refusing to add a please as it was HIS wallet after all. Stryke put his daggers away to ease the tension in the other having no desire to threaten or intimidate it out of him. Crossing his arms loosely over his chest he stared at the other.

Rolling his eyes at the yellowblood's pretend concern, Zindel wrinkled his nose and huffed, not facing the yellowblood. After his initial argument with Wrenmom, he pursed his lips and listened to the other hissing, feeling his cheeks get warm-- <********>, he must've sounded ridiculous, chirping like that. The redblood clenched his jaw when he heard the yellowblood's greeting to Wrenmom, whom chirped and fluttered her wing at him, watching him tear his shirt. Zindel looked right back to see the yellowblood just starting, but again, looked away, only to keep watching out of the corner of his eye. He wanted to learn, in case she got ******** up again. The little bird chirped and nodded, letting him move her wing, actually feeling a lot of pain and staying eerily quiet before relaxing into it and letting him tie the cloth around her. Afterwards, Wrenmom bowed her head slightly and hopped closer to Zindel, whom slid a finger over her healthy wing, lightly petting her. Never ceased to be social, this one.

The redblood glanced up at Stryke, listening to his words and swallowing dryly. Just the wallet? feeling a sharp p***k on his hand, he heard a loud chirp, which almost made him freak. "MOM," He snarled, but her next chirp meant she wasn't open for discussion. Begrudgingly, he pulled out the wallet as well as his own slightly empty savings and let the beetles fall onto his open palm, handing the pouch back to him and giving his lusus another "are you serious" glare. She merely lifted her beak, letting it shine in the dim lighting. With pursed lips, the redblood looked over to Stryke. "I'mzindeltagino." He murmured quickly, almost like a word. Feeling like an idiot and kinda covering his embarrassed face, the redblood glanced away. What great thief gave his ******** name to his victims?!?! Wrenmom usually left him alone, and then this happened to her wing and she suddenly cared. He couldn't wait for her wing to heal. Then he'd be able to go back to before. "Take your wallet and leave me alone." He said, before looking toward his foot and then at Wrenmom, pursing his lips and huffing. "And thanks. I guess."

Stryke was glad for the return of his own pouch, and while mildly annoyed the other kept the beetles and had placed into his own pouch the yellowblood didn’t argue. If the situation had been different and he’d needed a way to get back to Chittentown he’d have fussed the other. Fortunately this was not the case, and with a reluctant sigh he picked himself up off the ground. As he did so, the other boy stammered out a semblance of words strung together. It took the yellowblood a moment to understand the other. Several times over, he mentally repeated the words to try and separate them before he discerned the meaning. “zindel?” He asked, confirming he had in fact heard the other right. Zindel Tagino. It would not be so easy to forget this thief’s name, not with the antics that had led him to this point in the alleyway anyway.

Standing up Stryke dusted himself off, glancing one last time between the avian lusus and the redblood with a guarded expression. “think nothing of it, try not to dwell on the semantics. i’m just glad the damage isn’t too bad..” Pursing his lips he lightly crossed his arms over his chest shaking his head. He couldn’t say this was the friendliest of meetings, but it certainly hadn’t gone horribly amiss either. “i do apologize, but time is precious and i need to get moving...even if the trains will be disgusting and crowded.” It was one of many "rewards" of being a lowblood, there was no such luxury of having his own seat. It was a wonder he even bothered with the railways. Despite his reservations, there was a hint of a smile as Stryke placed his pouch securely within his rucksack as he glanced up at Zindel. He took extra precaution in latching it closed before speaking. “be careful out there.”

As he began walking a few steps, he halted when he didn't hear his father’s familiar shuffling. A soft hiss of beckoning came from Stryke, calling for his lusus whom had been all but eerily leering at the lower caste pair for some time now. Broken from his trance his guardian padded after Stryke. After several more steps, Stryke paused for a different reason entirely. Noticing a trail of droplets painting the ground, all red hued blood his gaze followed the path. Glancing back over his shoulder at Zindel, he had to wondered if they’d meet again, or if he’d just become a memory in time. Uncertain, he tentatively waved his farewell before leaving the other.

Listening to the other repeat his name, a conflicted expression slid across his face as he suddenly regretted telling the yellowblood-- Stryke, his name. He unwillingly stayed to listen to the others final speech, deciding to milk out the time he would stay here before watching the other and his lusus shuffle away. Relaxing almost immediately after the other had left, Zindel felt his eyes droop slightly before looking toward Wrenmom and her now bandaged wing. His finger lightly touched her wing, being careful not to hurt her-- before leaning forward and pressing his forehead against her small one. "I-- I thought he was gonna hurt you, mum." He murmured, then heard a soft chirp and a rustle of wings. "Don't do that again. Seriously, you never know what a troll might do." He relaxed somewhat when she chirped more words of comfort, then looked to his bandaged foot, not wanting to give him credit for helping him and Wrenmom-- but thankful to some extent. Looking at the path in which the other left, the redblood stared at it closely before struggling to stand and placing Wrenmom on his shoulder, where she nuzzled into his neck. Then he turned back and left, hoping to never see him ever again.
