A set date and time, the royal blue blooded troll had made sure nothing could go wrong. He'd been very careful with his whip, making sure it wasn't fraying and had nothing stuck in it- While it was just a freindly match, he didnt want any accidents. True accidents could be seen as less accidents than attempted murders sometimes and her rather liked the yellow blood.

Even if she was well. Yes. Yellow.

That part he tried to ignore when it came down to how he simply had asked for a favor of her of all things and yet he was higher on the blasted hemospectrum and as broken as that was-

A shake of his head, he dismissed his thoughts on rebellion, blood and other such political nonsense. He'd come to the woods to practice his skill with his newly acquired weapon and be less a burden and more a boon to his allies. That and not hit everyone and himself in battle. That was a really important thing to get down with using a whip, as his ever growing collection of welts could attest to.

He just had to pick the forest, didn't he.

Fancy-shmancy forest. Fancy-shmancy blue blood. He hadn't changed a bit, and no matter how well he treated them in the past, Vremea felt anger bubble in her the moment she saw his face from afar. She had helped him learn to use his weapon, and he did that to her morail?! Of course the yellowblood heard of his actions. Mutant. He called her a mutant. That was no different from calling her lowblood-- if not worse. Intense rage burned her insides. As soon as she saw him, she didn't hesitate to pull her scythe out.

No, she wasn't going to kill him. No. She would, however, hurt him quite a bit. She didn't even mind losing this battle-- as long as she injured him. With no warning, she lashed out at him, eyes narrowed in anger. "Lunear." She started with anger, blood boiling. "I heard what you did to Odette," Vremea said with a hiss, angry for having missed her target. He wasn't understanding. He was just like the rest of them... She knew it. She didn't know why Milieu held such faith in him. He didn't deserve it.

Once a highblood, always a highblood.

He had been expecting a lot of things, but being aggressively attacked was not one of them. Eyes widened as he saw her alread with weapon out, coming for him. The expression was fury and beauty and yet he felt a growing dread coiling in his gut. Of course she'd know. Of course she's lash out. He had in part hoped they might see, that maybe the wool had been pulled over her eyes just as much as him.

But no, low bloods protected their own, even if they were abominations.

Her words cut at the coil, and he felt that conflict boil up again. That pain of having a face to his hate. Of knowing who he was supposed to hate. Supposed to kill, to cull.

"So what?" He spat. "By all rights she's lucky I didn't report her to the drones." He lashed back at Vremea.
"I showed her mercy."

Vremea's eyes widened. Her breath quickened. "...Mercy? Mercy, you say?" Vremea snarled, voice dangerously low pitched, giving him a sharp cut on his arm, through his flouncy cape. She didn't care if she spilled his blood now. He needed to learn a lesson. Wielding her weapon with impressive skill, the yellowblood felt her cheeks flush with anger, raising her chin slightly and watching him from her stance under him. He may have been tall, but he didn't scare her. If anything, her expression was extremely dangerous-- no one made her morail cry by her knowledge and get away with it.

"What is wrong with you?! Do you not hear your words?! Were you not our ally?! Having powers is no reason for a troll to discriminate another troll, just as much as blood, Lunear!" Vremea exclaimed, concerned for her so-called friend's well being. She didn't understand him. He was a rebel, wasn't he?! He was supposed to fight for their ideals... to help them be equal. What... what happened to him? Maybe he was like this since the beginning...

It was a mercy, couldn't she see it? Odette could have been dead, by his own hand or by his simple words, she could have been culled. But no, he'd kept silent of her powers. Soothing himself and his struggles until he could sort them. Until he could accurately handle them.

Yet it seemed today he'd have to confront them in a very direct manner.

"Would you rather I personally cull her then?" He snapped, teeth clicking together. The cut earned a sharp hiss and a glare. If she wanted to lash out fine, but even she should know how being... associated with a mutant could taint. And if they had a quadrant together- surely she could see how disastrous if would be for future generations.

"I am an ally- but I never agreed to work with mutants. They infect the blood, variants and filth and-" He let a cry of rage escape him, the momentary of of composure evident in his actions.

"Color has purpose, promise. Mutant? All they offer is a risk. A risk to everyone."

Personally cull?! Was this guy crazy?? Vremea was fuming, and even though she was usually extremely patient, her morail was a completely different subject! "Having powers is not something you can control, Lunear." She said darkly, remembering that moment in the war-- that moment-- wasn't he there?! Didn't he see her-- did she need to refresh his mind, during the war? "Just as much as blood. You are hatched into it." With a harsh glare, Vremea lifted her hand, so tempted to show him her own powers, her own... filth-- but no. She was going to wait for a chance moment. Instead she aimed and almost, almost hit him with a hard slash-- but she calculated too early. Her blade cut through the air, just milimeters from his face-- then she pulled it back, glaring at him. "Lunear, that probability will always be there! The drones would just-- they'd use them, like tools! Trolls, we are not tools, Lunear...!"

He let out a bitter laugh, the kind one gave when looking at a joke, not believing it to even be taken seriously in the slightest. "Isn't it? You can chose not to use them, to do every troll a favor and never pail. Blood weakens when you add water to the mix. Mutants weaken us, leave our race open to who knows what. The universe is vast, and in battle all it would take is one stray mutant to get an entire squad killed." Rhetoric he'd recited since he'd been young.

"Rainbow drinkers who feast on our own kind. Psionics who can't tell friend from foe the second madness take them. They cant be trusted. If you're hatched into it, then it is a fate of pity. Of inevitable weakness and destruction!" He struck, aiming for her wrist.

"You think I like this reality? You think I like that we have to treat them like tools? That no matter what comes of the revolution, theirs is a fate that would harm us all if left unchecked?" He snarled. "It is necessary."

Narrowing her eyes at him, she clenched her hands into a fists and glared at him, clenching her jaw. "No, I am afraid you just do not know how it is for them. The have lives, Lunear. Lives that they want to live. Only one. Trolls with powers are not-- Ugh, Lunear, rainbow drinkers are COMPLETELY different!" She scoffed, attempting to hit him but missing completely. Hearing his words, Vremea stood up straight and frowned at him, pursing her lips. "If you do not like it, then do something to change it. Do not just try to eliminate the threat in such a way! They are hardly a threat, with trolls like you constantly hunting them down!"

He aimed for her scythe, wanting to rip it from her grasp, stop the fight. This had been a fool's idea. He should have kept to practice dummies. To mock figures, not actual spars and tussles. "One doesn't need to know their struggles to understand what they are." He shot back. He didn't need to know their faces, to know their names. It made things hard. He didn't need to know they hurt, that they would bring sorrow to others-

"How are they different Vremea? Mutants rely on others to hide them, shield them. They are unstable, powers that could destroy them and others the second they're left unchecked. Do you think we can change it?" He barked. It was impossible. Not unless they kept the mother grub free of pollutants. "The only way to change it is to eliminate them. Keep them from developing, keep them from ever contributing or using others." He took a step towards her, unyeilding.

"I will hunt them down Vremea, because if I don't others will. They'll always be hunted, because they will always be a threat."

Lunear's words were like daggers— almost as effective as the whip itself, hitting her hard."No, Lune— No! In order to understand another troll, to fully see their crisis and form an opinion of them— you have to see things from all sides! 'Never judge a troll until you've walked four moons with their shoes!'" She quoted, citing an old proverb she read from a book ages ago, trying to get him to see, to understand her. But he was as stubborn and close-minded as ever, like all highbloods were...

With another snarl, the yellowblood lunged again, missing by a hair, feeling the blinding anger boil in her like hot faygo. "Mutants do not rely on others to keep themselves safe. They constantly have to hide away from situations simply because of the crap they constantly have to deal with on a day to day basis! They depend on no one, simply because they cannot trust anyone! They are always afraid someone will do exactly what you want to do! Of course they will be afraid!" Eyeing the troll with narrowed eyes, the yellowblood whipped the scythe back, glaring at him. "They believe they are an abomination, which they are not!" She exclaimed, feeling a surge of anger— a surge of power. "It's trolls like YOU who force 'em to act the way they do! THEY aren't a threat until YOU make 'em one!!" She yelled, so blinded with rage she stopped speaking properly, losing her composure. She stepped down, breathing heavily— this was bad. What if someone heard her speaking like this...? Well, whatever. She didn't care anymore... She had gone to a point of no return with Lunear. More than anger, Vremea just felt sad.

He scoffed at her. Typical low blood mentality. Rebel mentality. "I do not need to talk four moons, let alone one to know right from wrong. Open your think pan to the fried unhatched eggs. What happens when mutants go unchecked? Who teaches them control? Who makes sure they don't kill all those around them? How many mutants have you seen sane Vremea? How many can claim they're be safe to even be around? Their very nature is erratic, unstable, unpredictable. At least with us you know its in our blood- with them there is nothing to predict, nothing to show just how much a risk they pose!" He struck again at her.

Us- high bloods. A line in the sand drawn in words and hemospectrum.

"Even if we let them alone, they'd never be in control, never be normal, never be whole Vremea. They're doomed from the day they hatch." His gaze was a mixture of anger and want. To deny how it was. He hated it too, just for different reasons. Because now? Now he had a face to who he was supposed to cull, to hate.

And he just couldn't bring himself to hate Odette.
He couldn't see himself able to do it.

Us. He said us. He thought she didn't... oh, this was almost laughable. "Sane mutants? Are you joking?" Vremea asked, eager to show him the difference between them, whacking him with the scythe and growling. "Odette, for one, is quite sane." She exclaimed, slamming her scythe into his side before deftly twirling it around with her hand, grabbing it hard and slamming it into his other side. "They teach themselves control, because they have to learn to do so at an early age. They take time and hone their skills." Then she paused. Looked at him straight in the eyes, eyes fierce, intense. "I am not that bad either. I like to think of myself as sane." She said harshly, a sentence uttered to sound normal, but she knew he'd double take. The yellowblood pulled out her hand, fingers curled as if holding a ball, long nails seeming like claws around the ball of light that slowly appeared in her hands with enough concentration. Summoning the ball of light gave her strain, yes, but she managed to do it, even if she was risking her life by showing Lunear.

"Odette and I are both mutants, Lunear. We may never be normal or whole or, how you say, "doomed from the day we hatch", but we keep on fighting to survive. We are trolls just like you." She stated, short rippling hair accentuating her steely gaze with each movement of her head.

If he did speak, she'd run from the empire. She would never let them use her. She was different. She refused to become a pawn. Not now, not ever.

She'd kill herself before letting that happen.

He scoffed at her. Scoffed, as if she was speaking with no inkling as to what was being discussed. He nearly laughed outright at her talk of sanity. He was a blue blood. Sanity was something those of his hue had to struggle with time to time and keep an eye out for. He knew sanity and mutants certainly had none.

At least he thought so.

Then of course-
Vremea went and supplied him with the little fact and had him shaking. She too was one of them. She had been all along. "You-" He hissed, anger and the feel of being betrayed boiled inside him. "You are nothing like me." He wanted to hurt. Not with his weapon but in his anger- he was hurt. How badly did he want to trust them, only to find they were the things he'd been told to hate? Come to think were only worthy of a quick cull?

"You don't belong."

A cheeky, provoking smile slide upon her face— one of the only times she was willing to welcome danger, as she heard Lunear's biting words. "Nothing like you, you say?" Vremea wanted to smack him across the face. The blueblood changed opinion in an instant, and did not even stop to think of how he had thought of her before she revealed her powers. "When just before, you mentioned how we were different than them?"Vremea couldn't mask her sarcasm— "What happened there? Sudden change of opinion?" She wished she could make him see reason. But he wasn't budging. With a whack of her scythe, Vremea hit him on the side, eyes fierce. "I am no different from you, Lunear. I am sane of mind and healthy." Her eyes lowered. Why was he being so difficult...?

He sneered and it marred what could have been a handsome face. Could have been, had his bigotry and ignorance not marked it as something ugly and foul.

"Us- those born of deeper hue than... your ilk." Her kind. Low blood. High blood. Lines in dirt and sand where they were them and he was not.
"You-" He tried to rationalize it out, think it through. He trusted and now that trust was crumpling. Yet in crumpling trust came the undone the very fabric of his world. That mutants were barbaric, that they were a blight, bane- he was blue and it would his duty, nay, his pride to cull them one day.

"-You weren't supposed to be one of them Vremea!" He yelled at her, whip swung blindly.

Pain was nothing, nothing but an ache muted by the broken thoughts trying to make sense of his crumbling world of black and white.
