User Image Everyone thought she was weird? Hawnu sniffed at the thought. Someone as beautiful as the lioness before him couldn't be weird. Everyone had their quirks, that much was for certain, but weird? No. Never! She would have let her weirdness show by now, he was sure.

Show him? Hawnu's ears perked up just a bit. "I promise," he said, lifting a paw and drawing an 'x' over his chest with one toe. It was a bit childish, but he had always found things like that rather heartfelt. Cross your heart, hope to die.

"This isn't something dangerous is it?" he suddenly said with a little frown. The thought of Mtoto walking around something dangerous all the time was concerning, even though she didn't have a scratch on her. And he had just met her...but still! There was that weird pull he had only heard about in bedtimes stories as a cub. Surely it couldn't be that...a lifemate? Impossible...love at first sight was a myth. Right?

Mtoto's mouth curled into a sweet smile as Hawnu made the 'x' motion across his chest. It was an adorable gesture, childish, but meaningful all in the same breath. She only hoped he was true to his word. She was beginning to feel strange feelings towards him, feelings she hadn't felt towards other males before. Granted she hadn't had much interaction with the males, but this feeling was weird. A tightening in her chest, that made her feel like she was floating. A feeling that made her feel like not being around him, would be the end of the world!

But perhaps she was just being overly girly.

Yeah, that had to be it. She was just being that much weirder, as always. No surprise there.

"Nope! Not dangerous at all! Mildly interesting? For you? Maybe! But dangerous? I wouldn't allow it!"

Her tone rose a bit, as though she were speaking loud enough for more than just Hawnu to hear. There was a bit of stress in it as well, but she wasn't sure whether Hawnu would pick up on it!

"Well?! Shall we go see, or should we sit around here a little longer?" She asked excitedly! Her paws now prancing with excitement as she tried to contain the energy swirling within her.

Hawnu relaxed as Mtoto confirmed that this wouldn't be dangerous, and his tail flicked back and forth in mild excitement. He had no idea what he was about to see, but maybe it would be exciting and new. He was pretty familiar with the lay of the land, but every now and then he'd stumble across a secret grove of fruit or a little nest of animals, and each time he did he was fascinated that there was always more to see and learn about his home.

"Let's go see," he said with a nod, more of his nerves settling down now that they were going on a little adventure. It was always hardest to start to talk with the ladies, and even now, after she'd given him that little kiss, his heart was still beating quickly but his mind was far more clear. "Lead the way."

He waited for her to walk, paws shifting on the ground in excitement as well. He hoped it would be a new part of the forest. Perhaps one deeper in the pride, as he tended to patrol the outer edges to make sure no one tried to get in that wasn't welcome.

"Alrighty lets get going!" She chirped as she bounced on her heels in excitement. Turning to do an about face, she quickly picked up her pace and turned to ensure Hawnu wasn't far behind.

"Its not far from here, but it is a little hidden from view. So stay close!" She warned over her shoulder, as she once again slunk into the forests near their encounter. The vines here were thick and low reaching, easily able to trip those that weren't paying much attention. In some cases, even choke those who weren't paying the slightest attention to their where abouts. But she knew this forest now like the back of her paw, and the forest knew her. As a cub, she would come through here and trip over all of the vines, roots, and tree trunks that lived at her feet. But now they had a mutual understanding, and her life was much easier as a result.

"Almost there!" She piped over her shoulder once more, finally noting the vine curtain ahead of them. They were here, now all she had to do was lean in close ...

A few tiny whispers later and the vines slowly began to part for the two of them. It was a bit apprehensive at first, but soon it was fully open and the two were free to step over the threshold that it was there to protect.

As she stepped over, she stopped a fresh smile on her face as she waited for Hawnu to step in and get the full affect. All around them was a glorious array of exotic flowers, both ones rare to the pride and those one would have to venture far away to procure.

All in one place, safe and sound.

Some were budded and perky, others were closed and droopy. But there was not a single plant that looked mistreated or out of place among them.

Once Mtoto turned to leave, Hawnu started to walk. He stuck close to the white lioness, dodging vines and low hanging branches. It was in the pride's blood to have tall and lanky lions, and while it made for speedy felines, it was occasionally difficult to navigate the denser parts of the jungle for this very reason. He got caught up on a few vines and roots, but it wasn't anything too bad, although the plants seemed to be out to get him. Normally he wasn't so awful at moving through the trees like this.

When they stopped by some vines, he was going to ask what Mtoto was doing, but when the plants began to move on their own, he stopped. Brows raised, Hawnu followed after Mtoto carefully, unsure of what was going on anymore. His breath left him slowly, though, as he came into the little covered area that housed hundreds of different kinds of flowers, some he'd never seen before, others he knew that were valuable to the pride.

"Wow," he said quietly, taking in the sight. "This...this is amazing," he finally said, finding the words to describe his surprise. "Did you plant them?" he asked, looking at Mtoto with wide eyes.

Mtoto could feel her joy resonating off of every plant that shared her private sanctuary. They all shared in her joy, vibrating and full of energy and life. Each of them abuzz with a new question regarding the dark male in their home. She merely giggled at the questions, and patted a few of the flowers gently upon their leaves. She would explain all soon enough, for now she merely wanted to hear Hawnu's input.

She knew very well that her plants would accept her no matter what, but she found herself yearning for Hawnu's acceptance now. Something she didn't quite understand, but she still felt she needed none the less.

"Amazing isn't it?!" She cheered happily, her paws prancing delicately between the plants at her paws.

Though at Hawnu's next question, her ears flattened against her head and she tilted it curiously. "Oh no, I didn't plant them. They all planted themselves! I merely saved them!

All of these beauties were all rescued from a place where they wouldn't have survived. I gently uprooted them and simply relocated them here, where they could live safely and provide beauty for those who promise to uphold their protection."
Bending down to her plants level, she gently caressed her cheek against a few of them and purred softly.

"I think of these plants as not only my friends, but in a way as my children...." Mtoto's words quickly slipped away as the words left her mouth. She hadn't meant to say that part aloud. It was a personal thought, and part of the reason everyone poked fun at her.

Oh why had she said that aloud?!

Hawnu looked around at all the flowers before fixing his gaze on Mtoto again. She seemed so alive here...were the plants magical? They certainly looked it, with they way there were sort of glowing, giving of faint blue light from their buds. Some of them were normal - meaning they weren't glowing - but were nonetheless incredible to look at. He nodded at her question before moving forward, careful to gently push aside leaves and flowers so he wouldn't step on any of the plants.

As she went on, though, his eyes lifted from the foliage to the lioness before him. She definitely loved these plants, that much was obvious...but when she called them her children his brows rose. "Small cubs," he teased softly, but it was in a good natured way. "I'm sure they're very thankful to have someone as diligent and caring as you to look out for them."

It must be hard being a plant, he thought to himself as he reached out to gently stroke the petals of a particularly large flower. You were rooted to the ground and couldn't move at all, and you could only hope bugs and rain would come to pollinate you and feed you. He much rather liked being able to move around and take care of himself.

"It looks like you take very good care of them," he said with a nod, carefully sitting down among the plants, his tail tucked by his feet so he wouldn't bump any by accident. "Thank you for showing me this place. It really is wonderful."
