Dege had just finished up her patrol of the borders, keeping an eye on the few places were strangers could wander in. It was actually the way that she had gotten into the valley that the Aka'mleli called home, but Ayo had led her most of the way here. It seemed to be the normal story when a stranger came in looking to call this place home. The birds seemed to know the way, and led their lions into the valley. The trek wasn't always safe, and Dege had heard a couple stories of lions needing to be nursed back to health after being found.
Regardless, somehow the food here was good, and the hunters did a good job to not take too much food every hunt. Though the striped lioness assumed that they could somehow pass over the mountains if needed, there was still a finite amount of resources here. Keeping everything in balance was important.
It was strange...knowing where she had come from, and comparing it to life here. She didn't miss the ocean, not when she had always loved birds more than even her family. This was paradise, in her eyes.
Ayo was riding along on her back, the small bird half asleep as they were returning to the central gathering area of the pride. Dege was hoping that someone had a snack leftover, and she could chat with someone about the latest news or gossip.
