Demani had been away from home for so long that she was beginning to doubt the purpose of her naming quest. Some of the other lions had boasted of how easy it was to discover their name, and here Demani was spending months just wandering around, trying desperately to figure out what her name was going to be. At one point she had turned over rocks, as if expecting it to be written on the ground underneath the stones. She was so determined to find it, that when she still couldn't, the lioness had simply given up. Demani wanted sorely to go back home, but she couldn't until she had a name attached to her, and not the one her parents had given her.
So. here the young lioness was, wandering the roguelands in an eternal state of limbo. She'd just make up a name herself if it didn't feel so badly like cheating. Everyone would know it, too, know that it held no meaning to her. In frustration, the young lioness plopped down into a patch of tall grass. She'd just lay here and mope, hidden from view, and try not to care about how much of a failure she was. All of her siblings had probably returned home by now, and were probably wondering if she was going to make it back at all.
Well, at this rate, she wasn't. The lioness sighed, her tail flopping out of the tall grass, the only part of her that was visible. And there it twitched, and twitched, and twitched, betraying just how irritated she was.
