[Duel] Recovering (Nuria & Ruber)

"Like you should talk, Miss Inbred Lioness," he retorted. "I doubt you've ever been laid, given that you're such a cold b***h!" He deliberately used the term for a female wild dog or hyena, creatures who were so inferior to lions that they couldn't even interbreed. Not that he'd ever seen cheetahs or leopardesses as females worthy of his time, but he'd known that there were those who chose to have hybrid children.

"You're just jealous because you know you couldn't get a piece of this in a million years," Ruber sneered, gesturing at himself.  

[Excited Apathy]

Nuria wanted to hit him.

But if Nuria hit him right now, this lion would probably end up in the medic's den while they tried to save what was left of his face. So she would take a deep breath, and she would hit him with words instead. She'd already won the physical contest, regardless of his spineless protests about his healing wounds. If he'd been so worried about those, he wouldn't have fought her in the first place. She forced a smirk back onto her face. "Oh really? I bet if I offered, you'd jump at the chance."

Wait. s**t. That was probably a bad thing to say. Oh well, it wasn't like he'd take her up on it, and then she'd get to taunt him for being a coward.

Yep, he was definitely hitting a nerve. Which was incredibly satisfying. He knew that there would almost certainly be consequences if she started beating on him, after she'd already won their duel. The Firekin valued strength, yes, but depriving the army of one of its soldiers pointlessly would probably earn some frowns.

...and then she talked about if she offered to sleep with him. Well, after what he'd just said to provoke her, he should, logically, refuse.

But Ruber had never backed down from a challenge.

The red lion grinned. "Maybe not jump, but I have never, ever turned down a lady looking for a night's companionship." He gazed at her, challenge in his purple eyes. "Tonight? Or are you so eager, you want it right here and right now?"

Hah. Swallow that, lioness.  

[Excited Apathy]

Nuria froze. That was...not the answer she'd been expecting. At all. s**t. If she backed down now, he'd be the one taunting her. And she wasn't cold. She wasn't! She was a pure-blooded Firekin, with as much fire as any of them and certainly more fire than an uppity former rogue! And...how much harm could a night do? It wasn't like he was ugly, even if his personality seemed designed to irritate. After this, she could go out of her way to avoid him, and that.

"...Fine," she snarled, shoving off of him. "Tonight."

With that, she spun around and stalked off before he could come up with anything else to complicate her day.

Ruber watched her go, still smiling. Yep, that was a hard drink of water to swallow, but she would for her pride. And he won in the end. Yes, he'd lost to her. But even though it had been the last thing on her mind, he'd maneuvered her into spending the night with him.

So he'd have to make sure that this was the best evening she'd ever had. Not that he doubted his ability to do so in the least. Whistling jauntily, the red lion headed off in the opposite direction, to plan his...attack.
