LennaSuace Zphal At least my dad is open to trying to understand and learning about it. My mom... well, she's too selfish and self-centered to care about my feelings. Mothers are always difficult. Once I got suspended from school and my mom made a fuss about it - instead of helping me to get over it, she was like trying to make me sink. talk2hand Dad was more sensible and sensitive smile I remember you wrote you were married? Or is it my imagination?
He is. Dude's been married for almost 9 years (it's in his signature).

Yeah, the first thing out of my mom's mouth when I said I was legally changing my name was "I wanted to be there for you like my mom wasn't for me when you had your first child!"
Which wasn't even relevant to the discussion of a name change. So illogical. rolleyes
And yup, I'm married to a very understanding man. xd Who says he isn't bi, but if you want my opinion has some telling tendencies. 8U

Technically that's how long we've been an item, but we kinda felt married from the start (didn't much do the dating phase); plus we got engaged seven months into the relationship, so yeah. xd We've been legally married since February of 2006, so we're rapidly approaching our seventh year of marriage. smile

Zphal LennaSuace ninja I'm afraid I'm a bit, confused on this topic, dear. I thought that statement of your transgenderism was part of your "shameless humorism" but I see it's serious neutral I guess I'm sorry for not taking it seriously emo Must be hard to explain to family. neutral At least my dad is open to trying to understand and learning about it. Sorry to hear about your mom, but at least your dad's trying.

Yeah, I'm really glad he is, and to be perfectly honest, I care more about my dad's acceptance than my mom's. xp I mean, he's a role model to me. My mom... eh, never really has been.

wellwisher I'm going to suggest some actual books for you. try books written by Jamison Green. one in particular. Becoming a Visable Man should be a really good insightful book (was a required text for my Sociology of Gender class last spring) Something a little more comedic, but very intellectually written would be Gerd Brantenberg's book Egalia's Daughters: A Satire of the Sexes which isn't so much insightful on the trans topic, but it's an interesting book that shows how sex has impacted culture (in a fictional reverse society) Might be worth a read even if it's not going to be the most helpful in explaining being trans.
Someone else suggested that first one to me as well. Two recs sounds like a good reason to check it out.
