	So, here they had come. A desert was a safe place for Huoxin and Huolong to live, but now came the challenge of proving their strength to this pride. Dueling their way in. She understood it, and even admired it, but that didn't change the fact that she was still slightly nervous. Who knew what lion would answer her challenging roar, or how long it would take for them to accept her challenge. Still, that was no reason to worry. She would fight her way in, and Long would do the same. This would be the real test to see if she was fully healed from the flood that had nearly killed her. Xin was ready to face that, head-on.

	Nasiha had never taken a challenge from a rogue that was hoping to join the pride but now that she was working her way back out of the shadows of the pride, she figured she ought to at least give it a try. When a lioness that looked about a reasonable match for her sent out a challenge, she decided it was a good time to accept. "Hello there," she called, taking a place opposite the red, uniquely marked lioness, "Challenging for membership?" It seemed appropriate to check, it wasn't the only kind of challenge but it seemed most likely in the case of this lioness. She nodded, giving Xin the opportunity to go first.

	To be quiet honest, Xin wasn't expecting a polite lioness to be her opponent. She thought it'd be like, the biggest, burley-looking male lion ever. "Ah, y-yes," she said with a quick bob of her head. "Thank you for accepting my challenge." Clearly this wasn't going to be as impossible as she thought, but this was still a test of strength. Xin couldn't let this lioness' looks get to her. She was going to prove to this striped lioness and to herself that she was strong enough to gain entry. And with that, she lunged forward for the first attack. She was getting back into the groove of hiding her emotions on her face, but even she was surprised that her first attack was successful.

	Nasiha could see that Xin was surprised by her pleasant start to the duel, but she never thought it necessary to be as harsh in personality as profession. It was useful in some ways, you didn't want to underestimate an opponent based on their appearance. She didn't respond verbally, instead waiting for her move. When Xin lunged forward, Nasiha struck back by mirroring the motion. The second's difference between their actions meant she was hit hard first, but if she could keep her balance, she would push back.

	Freshling coming off of that hit, Xin's paws hit the dusty sand in victory. She knew that she wasn't finished yet, and she felt like she had to keep her guard up. Getting the first hit helped first impressions, but she knew that the black and white female wasn't going to let her win easily. With a slight hiss as she exhaled, twisting her body enough to strike out at her opponent again. Perhaps she did let herself get overconfident, because she completely missed!

	Nasiha was lucky, she lost her balance but it didn't end with her pinned in the sand. She wasn't quite posed to strike back when her paws hit the ground again but she was perfectly capable of avoiding the next attack. It was hard to tell which of them deserved the credit for it but it gave her an opportunity to rear up and push at the lioness's red shoulder. "Hah!"

	Xin lost her balance and slipped backwards, her rump landing in the warm sand. She felt her stomach lurch at the unexpected movement, but she was quick to rotate the lower half of her body and jump back up quickly. She took a moment to catch her breath, her golden eyes looking at her opponent's red ones. Well, this wasn't going to only be strength, but also adaptability. Suddenly Xin really liked this lioness, and hoped that no matter the outcome they could at least be friendly. With a small grin, Xin bounded forward again, telling herself to cool her emotions and focus on winning.

	Nasiha spared a second to watch how Xin reacted after she hit the sand, realizing the problem with the pause shortly afterward and jumping back to keep out of reach. It was interesting to see an outside take on dueling, the lions here had varied styles but new rogues brought something else. "You have to move faster," she said, not necessarily in any position to give advice when she had no idea how this would turn out, but explaining how she was able to move around to get out of Xin's way before she could even really attempt to strike. She circled around as quickly as she could, swatting out at Xin's back, aiming to provoke her- or play with her, depending on the attitude the stranger had.

	"Faster?" Xin breathed. Well, that was true, but Xin wasn't about to pour out the excuses. Nasiha wasn't here to listen to that. In fact, she'd probably boot her out if Xin started to whine about the past! So instead, Xin did her best to think about being faster while also trying to think of a way to best Nasiha, quickly and without much pain. When Nasiha's attack missed, Xin almost laughed. This was difficult, but fun! With a bit of a growl, Xin twisted her back to turn as quickly as she could, nearly losing her grounding while doing so. She went to trip Nasiha by foolishly going for a foreleg, as it might make up for Xin's embarrassing butt-tumble.

	Embarrassingly, she squeaked in surprise when her swat missed- but then she was grinning. She did just say that the red lioness should move faster. It was a good sign that she missed, really, but it created a moment between the strike and getting a steady foot on the ground again where she was vulnerable. And Xin took advantage of it, causing Nasiha to scramble in an attempt not to hit the ground. "Ack!" Her only option to make the most of falling was to attempt to get at Xin's legs as she went down, even if it meant landing more awkwardly in the end.

	Well, it seems like they were being mirrors to one another, because Xin didn't have time to celebrate her hit. She didn't quite expect Nasiha to use her falling as an attack, but that she did. Xin felt her own legs fold from under her, a gasp filling her chest as she tumbled down. Instead of completely getting herself up, Huoxin instead decided to try and pin Nasiha down to ensure victory! Or something along those lines. Hopefully Xin's timing wouldn't be crap, but she wasn't exactly the best at successfully connecting her hits.

	Nasiha was rather surprised when she successfully brought her opponent down with her, but she was even more surprised when Xin used it as an attack. It must have looked like quite the scramble to anybody that was observing their duel and, in the end, any effort Nasiha put into getting away from it, she only got herself more tangled up. Mostly in her own feet. Xin didn't get to pin her down but she had the dominant position when finally the striped lioness went still on the ground. "I think you've got the best of me," she said, not even bothering to try untangling her legs and getting up right away.

	Well, the pinning didn't really work, but somehow she was still able to win. Xin let out a laugh as she felt herself wiggling around, working on getting herself up and out of the pile that they had turned into. "Maybe, but...that was fun." She finally was able to pull herself out and stand up, though she felt a little shaky from the adrenaline rush that was now leaving her. "Thank you."
