Mokri welcomed his sister with a warm nuzzle, though his brow was wrinkled in worry. This wasn't good. Not at all! The world was turned upside-down, and he wasn't entirely certain how to right it.Only time, he supposed. He suppressed a shudder at the wrongness of one of the People attacking another, and being exiled. The acrid scent of the burning hammock made his nose twitch, but he held himself still, taking in the scene. He scanned the mournful, raging, and shocked expressions, absorbing the myriad reactions and chaotic emotions. He focused quite intently on their beloved Eywa as she spoke, committing the words to memory. Her words rang in his mind... "... as a result of this tragedy...," with sorrow and finality both. The time of one generation had passed. A new king and queen, a new time of history. This could be the greatest song he ever composed, if he could just soak in the situation, hold it bone-deep.
Hwena sat quietly, tail curled about her paws. So much raw emotion swirled about! She kept her thoughts and opinions private, as always, watching and waiting to learn the situation and the truth. Rumors and speculation were useless. The words of Eywa, as well as those leaders standing besides the Mother, were truth, and she listened intently. The news of the attack of the king was... unsettling. How could such a thing happen here, amongst the People? She frowned faintly, but still did not feel the need to pass judgment on Kerusey herself. What she felt concerning his guilt was irrelevant, after all. What Pietr and the others had decided was vital and just, regardless of the actual judgment. She was content to trust in their wisdom.
Even so, it was even more unsettling to watch the hammock burn, and to hear the words of banishment. Such a thing had not happened among them, to her limited knowledge. She shifted her paws uneasily, but listened attentively as the new king and queen were announced. She smiled then, easily setting aside the confused thoughts concerning the attack and exile in favor of the more positive and pleasant news. Oh, good for them! With her quiet, confident way, she had confidence that they would rule well.
As furious as Kaneon was at what Kerusey had done privately concerning his relationship with Satomi, even he was stunned at the depth to which the dark lion had stooped. He stared in shock with everyone else, mouth dropped open unknowingly. He'd... he'd attacked the king? His brother?! Rogue-blood he might be, but few rogues he knew would be so cold-blooded and ruthless. To press his cause in such a fashion... and those cubs! Their father struck down before their eyes were opened! Cold rage filled his heart slowly, and he gritted his teeth together. The normally mellow, friendly male refused to bring shame on himself by vehemently agreeing with Silron, but oh how he wanted to shout for that very thing!
He was just as glad he hadn't, when Eywa spoke, announcing the mixed news of the retirement of the old king and queen, and the ascension of the new royal couple. It would have ruined their moment, had he called out in anger, and that was something the gentle-hearted lion would never have wanted to do. it was a struggle to set aside his anger, but with willingness he bowed before Pietr and Neyite, lowering his chin to his chest, letting his eyes close in respect. Life must go on, or evil already had won.
