From the moment he had hatched, Bran had been intrigued by the world he had been born into. The ship was a curiosity with many rooms, nooks, and crannies to explore just within the different levels itself. The young Native hadn’t even stepped out into the world yet, and he was already entranced. One of the most interesting places that the colony ship had to offer, however, was in the level below the one his nest (as he affectionately called his room) was located: the library. From the moment he found the library, Bran made it a point to go to the room filled to the brim with various tomes at least once a day. And why not – it offered so much knowledge! Perhaps he could learn even more about the world in which he now lived.
”C’mooon…just a little more…”
Currently, the black bird Native was having some difficulty of his own. With a ebony, feathered hand stretched up high, Bran was trying to reach one of the books at the top most shelf. With no step stool in sight, it was really his only option. Try to reach it himself, or start climbing the shelves, and he wasn’t stupid enough to try the latter. The last thing he wanted to do was to knock over a shelf full of books. And so, the young boy resolved himself to try and make himself as tall as possible to reach his prized book – tippy-toes and all, yet he still couldn’t reach it just yet.
Bran was about to give up, but not quite yet. He still had one more trick up his sleeve. Expelling a puff of air in frustration, the small Native began flapping the black wings that protruded out of the shoulder blades on his back. This was then followed by the highest jump the boy could manage (which, unfortunately for him, wasn’t very high of the ground at all) in a last ditch effort to reach the book. Alas, the odds were not in his favor.
