User ImageJioni yawned widely and watched the soft play of light on the grass in front of him. The fading daylight filtered in interesting patterns through the leaves of the trees, creating an almost ethereal effect. The forest could be, and often was, a mesmerizing and enchanting place. It was idyllic.

As Auberon, Jioni had watch over all of the groundlings of the forest. It was his domain and they were his family. They lived a pleasant existence in harmony with the royalty of the pride that lived next to the forest.

With another muzzle stretching yawn, Jioni rose and strode contentedly through the shadows. It was time for him to take one of his daily strolls to check the different areas of the forest. He was to look for trouble, discontent, problems . . . very rarely did he find any. The occasional squabble or argument, yes. Perhaps a lost cub. More often than not, he would run across friends, or a party, a dance. He was usually invited to join, which he occasionally did. Provided his duties were done. He hadn't asked for his responsibilities, but he took them very seriously.

As he began his stroll, he wondered what he would run across today . . .

Galadfuin was not sure where he was, or if he was even going in the right direction to end up somewhere familiar. For all he knew, he would be lost in the forest for all eternity, with no way back and no way of getting food of water. Really, he hadn't seen another soul in a long time, though he had heard more than one strange noise on his travels. But he knew better than to think the forest was really empty- he could smell what he could not see.

It seemed there were lions all over, they were just very good at hiding from him. That, or he sucked at tracking. Both were equally likely.

He sighed faintly, about ready to give up all hope, when finally he saw someone else- a deep blue lion not too far ahead of him.

"Hail, stranger!" He called, offering the other a respectful bow, "My name is Galadfuin- I come with no ill will. I am... merely lost in this impressive forest. Mayhaps you will be able to assist me?" He offered a smile, hopeful again now that he had someone to talk to. If he wasn't a hunger-induced fantasy, of course.

Jioni was not surprised to be hailed in the forest by someone seeking help. He was surprised, however, to find that the other male was a stranger. Jioni did not know all of the groundlings personally, but he was fairly sure he would know them at least a little. He did not recognize this lion, but he was certainly willing to offer help.

Turning around, he strolled over to Galadfuin and smiled kindly.

"Greetings Galadfuin. Welcome to the Campanil Forest. I am Jioni'Nyota, Auberon of the forest. You look as though you have been lost for quite some time," he said, though the comment was said gently. "These trees can be deceptive for those who are not used to their company. How can I help you?"

Jioni wondered if Galadfuin was searching for the pride. If so, he could easily escort him to the border of the forest and introduce him to the guards. If not, the groundlings would certainly welcome him, or he could be escorted back to the rogue lands.
