It had been a day since he watched the cubs and their mother from a distance. Something was wrong; he could sense it. It wasn't just the fact that the female leopardess hadn't moved for quite a while, it was also the sounds of the cubs and the smell lingering in the air. The smell of blood. The cubs were not very old, a few days born. He had a choice to make, he only wanted one of them when he was to return to collect, but it seems other things got in the way. Not that it mattered to him, he could see three males, and one female. Not too bad, if you asked him.
He watched them from a fair, not wanting to make his presence known yet. It was obvious that the female leopardess had died recently. He could smell the decay already. It almost made him wrinkle his nose. The day was hot, and was the only reason he knew she was in fact dead. The cubs were also in the open. Vultures had started to gather above them. In a few more hours they'd swoop down and start trying to eat the mother, and also the cubs. They were weak after all, innocent little creatures. Probably didn't even have names yet. It was a sad thing to most, but Thona wasn't most. He saw this as an opportunity. He could corrupt them as much as his other kids that actually grew up in the pride. He needed more members as well. The plague had recently subsided and no one was getting sick anymore, they were getting better. Though there still was a small hole in their minds. He needed to fix that, these cubs would be the key to it. His nanny's could handle the feeding until they were old enough to be weaned, he knew that well enough.
He finally made his move towards them. It seemed they could kind of walk, but not as good as he had hopped. He wasn't ready to take them now, but he had no choice. He was going to have to carry them. He didn't so much like that idea, but it was what he was deal. He'd carry them all at once, that wouldn't be hard, just grab them by the scruff of the neck. They were cubs after all, how hard could it be? He wasn't far from the pride either. Seems she was trying to find him before she had them. He wondered if the leopardess knew she was going to die.
"My, what do we have here?" He said as he loomed over the cubs finally reaching them.

Katheo was happy and content, snuggling with her brothers against the mother who ceased to move 3 or 4 days after she gave birth to them despite the cries coming from her and her brothers. After mother's body went stiff due to rigor-mortis, Katheo discovered that they couldn't suck any milk out of mother and there weren't no grooming, the confusion swells up inside her tiny body as she just opened her eyes for first time. She whimpers little bit as she crawled over to her mother's blank unseeing face, trying to nuzzle her mother to wake her up because there is not pleasing scent that is starting to waft from her mother. A small mewling cry escape her as she realized that the female that gave birth to them have left them as well in some way.
Crawling back to her brothers, she couldn't stop the tears from coming because she is hungry, cold and afraid just like her brothers. Katheo's eyesight began to clear up some more over next few days and she learned how to walk, but not fluidly since she stumbles over her huge paws and her body isn't that strong enough to keep her moving for long period of times. Her ears perks up as she could sense someone watching them and it makes her feel uneasy so she snuggles closely to her brother Chindi to garner some familiarity and comfort. Katheo's tiny body shivers as she refrains from whimpering, mewing and crying because she could sense many eyes watching from above and around her. What she did not know is that they all are waiting for cubs to bite the dust so they could have a huge meal.
Katheo's head snapped toward a really large male that is loomed over her and her brothers and her knee-jerk reaction is to bare her tiny teeth at the male and hisses ferociously which sounds like squeaky hissing instead of vicious hissing like she wanted to do. Her tail poofed out as she refuses to shrink back into the protection of her brothers and she stood there in front of her brothers, growling at the male, trying to ignore the fact that she's terrified and hungry, and becoming weaker with every passing day since they don't have any food.

Yenae had no clue why his mother stopped moving, she had been so warm, so loving to them all. Now she was cold, stiff, and not waking up from her nap. Not there to feed the, to bathe them after making a mess of themselves on way or another. All he could do is mew, and huddle up in the pile where his siblings were.
He had no clue they were being watched, or that there had been an intruder in their den at first. Yenae was too busy trying to steal warmth from his brothers at the time. But when the hisses from his reached his ears, his head popped right up. To see what was going on, and to his surprise it was a much larger male. Invading their den, and all he could do was hide in the corner behind the rest too scared to try anything. In fear of what might happen to him, to all of them.

Takeo had not been worried at first. His mother had stopped moving, but she was resting. She often rested, and allowed them to nurse. The warmth beginning to leave her was one sign, the slow disappearance of milk another, but the cub stubbornly held fast to the belief that she was just resting. Eventually she would get up again, and then she would rest again, and the cycle would continue. Even as hunger began to gnaw on his belly, he believed.
And then, there was a voice.
Takeo's head whipped around to look at the stranger, and at first he was silent. It was a cold, hostile silence, one that left little doubt that while he did not know this male, he did not like him. Who did he think he was, to intrude upon Takeo's siblings, upon his mother? She needed peace, quiet, rest. She'd get up soon, but before that this invader needed to go away. He clambered to his feet and toddled to his sister's side before baring his tiny teeth, as his lips parted in a hiss.

Days old and still confused, Chindi was left alone with his three siblings. His eyes had been closed when it first happened, the first sign that his mother was no longer alive was the cold, then the smell. The smell was what forced Chindi to abandon her once warm body for something that smelled less... he wasn't sure what to call it. The smell was one he hoped to never smell again, one that the small leopard would always associate with his mother from that moment on.
When his eyes finally cracked open from the crust that held them closed firmly, Chindi had looked around at both his brothers and his small sister. It was Katheo that held close to him as he stayed further and further from his mother. As if she had replaced their mother with his warmth instead, or maybe she was just looking for some comfort. The small orange and white leopard could use some comfort himself, but he had already learned the harshest lesson in life, that it was cruel and didn't care how old or strong you were. Not that Chindi was even old enough to recognize or acknowledge a lesson in anything just yet.
His siblings were lucky that he acknowledged them at all, the shivering things actually filled him with a strange sense of... loathing. The feeling didn't have a word in newly born mind, but it was still a feeling. He loathed himself and his siblings for looking so weak and helpless, for being so weak and helpless. They were still too young to even be away from their mother for this many days, the hunger had turned their bellies into rumbling factories for stomach bile and pain. Even Chindi wanted to cry out and whimper for help as the days went on, allowing Katheo and his two brothers to pile up on top of him for warmth. Anything was better than dying.
He didn't want to smell like mother. He didn't want to be cold like mother. If his siblings would keep him alive he would let them do whatever they wanted to him. It wasn't his job or responsibility to protect them, he was the youngest of all of them. Size wasn't an issue, all of them were tiny and underfed, even if one of them had been larger than the others or smaller it wouldn't have made them stronger or weaker, they were all equal amounts of weak right now. One day it would matter, one day size and strength would play a role, but Chindi didn't know that when the large shadow walked above him, eyes cold and face smirking. This male would bring a new life for him and a chance... at what? A chance at life was all he needed right now.
Lifting his head off of Yenae's back, Chindi gazed at the large shadowy figure before him for a long moment before he could make out any features at all. Colors were foreign to him, but Takeo was just as brightly colored as the male before them. Maybe even he himself was colored like him, his paws seemed bright at least, though right at the moment he was dull and brown from days without food and shelter. This shape before him had words for them, words that meant nothing to Chindi as he couldn't speak or even make out what a word was. One of his ears flicked at the orange male with the bright mop of green mane on his head and Chindi's silvery eyes, much like his mother's own had been, blinked and the small cub stood slowly.
There was a pained and starved effort with every movement that the cub made at this point, it was evident in body language that he had no idea how to hide just yet. His steps were wobbly anyway from not having properly learned how to take them, made even worse by starvation and malnutrition he was a walking zombie. But he was a walking zombie that stopped beside his two siblings and sat down at Katheo's side. He was silent, but he would defend himself if he had to, defend his siblings... from what? What did this male want?
He chirrped, a sound that only his mother would have understood fully.

Already, Thona knew this might be a little too much for him. Four cubs, not one... How did this happen? He didn't think the female was that old when he had stumbled upon her. Perhaps he would have thought twice about this. At least they were mostly males. He took them him, saw a few hiss at him. It made him crack a smirk. They were his, after all; he'd be a fool to think they'd act any other way. They were too young to just let them walk and him to show them where to go, and with the vultures in the air, he couldn't take one by one. He'd end up coming back with more dead things than when he left.
All he knew was that he had to get them out, and soon. They looked hungry, and needed some food. They were not old to be taken off the n****e of a female. "Listen up, cubs" He started knowing that they couldn't fully understand him as much as he'd like, but what was he going to do? "You're coming with me, so you don't die. Your mother is dead." He said. One day they'll understand and perhaps hate him for it. Though, there was a more of a chance for them to be more like him and to obey. Especially with them being so young. Though, he'd make sure that they didn't see him as a father, but more of a father type figure.
He wrapped his paws around them to try to push them together so he could some how get a grasp on them. Of course, he wasn't sure their reaction to this. He didn't want to frighten them too much, but it was going to happen one way or another. It wasn't every day that a male came and took kittens from their mothers. Nor was he around when they were born. Well.... visibly around. They looked almost nothing like him, which was even better. They looked mostly like the female he had knocked up. Whatever her name was.... He didn't know... Nor would they. Only one might look like his, but he had no spots. It would be easier for him to deny all connection to them rather than being their step father. Especially around Nan, though he could easily just say they were hers, and she'd probably believe him. Even if they had no pink on them at all. Great thing about Nande, she wasn't smart enough to put pieces together.
"Hold still, and you'll have food in no time"

Feisty little guys, they were his kids alright. Thona heard Rahu and a smirk crossed his face. He'd make him carry two, while he grabbed the other two. Simple and a few tiny claws in his face wouldn't bother him at all. "Oh Rahu, I'm so glad you could join me... So, fool, help me grab them. You grab two, and I'll grab the other two. Make this easy on an old man?" He said with an evil grin as he turned away from the bundle of hissing fur balls.
(Gonna end it here so we can get things certed, If you want the new adult Alt lines for leopards, let me know. I think EA wanted them, and Cait does too. Send me a PM so I can get things posted. :3 Everyone's free to rp their cubs however they wish in the pride. Just remember they aren't allowed out side of the pride limits until they are adoles.)
