[PRP] Familiarity {Bashira & Segurue}

Bashira was on the move, on the heels of a fat hare that had wondered too far from home. On days like this, she took pleasure in simple things such as hunting for herself and not being forced to. For the past few weeks, she had been plagued with nightmares of the memories that she'd much rather forget. However, today seemed alright, and she hadn't had any nightmares for a few days. It didn't take her long to run the small creature down and pounce on it. Once she caught it, she carried it back to a tree that she had been sleeping in.

Gracefully climbing up the tree. she settled on a large branch and ate her kill. Looking out into the grassy field, she wondered once more why she had come here. Somehow, this place seemed familiar to her with the forest backdrop and the rock hill in the distance. In any case, she felt somewhat safe here. After cleaning off her paws and face, she relaxed back on the tree, wondering what had brought her here.

They had been traveling for how long now? He wasn't sure and in that time he developed the loyalty of a firm follower to Bashira. She had kept him 'safe' but let himself learn on his own. That was the feeling he was given- and by that he started to develop a twisted morality. Ones that others would admire- but also damn. He had told Bashira that he would also hunt for food- and meet her back at their 'spot'. Some would think this relationship to be.. well a romantic one. Devoted- but somehow it wasn't close to that- nor a mother and son relationship either. It was... complicated.

While she was off hunting, he was off to search the surroundings and also snatch up food. He didn't know if she would have any luck today- and from having skipped two days worth of game he couldn't come home empty handed again and let them starve. But under all the brush... He was lucky and the pray hadn't thought another second before it was tackled to the ground in the most fiercely manner. Negative one point to morality, as the elk did not cry out-.... but once he was about to let go- It YELLED and SCREAMED for help.. Yep. Plus one point to his moral, as he went in and snapped its neck. He would have let it go- if it didn't yell for help and at least TRIED to get away on its own. It deserved to die.

Thankfully it did, or they wouldn't have had food. IT COULD have been set free. It could- but didn't. Instead, now was dragged for a good long way before it was planted near a tree that seemed deserted from the side he had came up on.

"....." Then let the dead weight fall at the foot of the tree as he laid down to catch his breath and let Bashira inspect the game he found. His breath was shallow, but otherwise he looked completely blank of any further emotions.

Bashira paid close attention to her surroundings, watching and waiting for him to appear. She did not worry though, knowing that he was capable of surviving on his own. It was something she liked about him, his resilience. Even though he was still young, he had wisdom and maturity beyond his years.

Still, she admired the way that he'd grown and changed yet still remained the same since the day she'd met him. She really didn't mind having him around.

When he arrived as expected hauling a large prey animal, she smirked at him with pride before jumping down from the tree branch.

"Nice catch there, I hope it didn't give you too much trouble," she greeted him with a slight grin.

He waited patiently, then looked up as soon as she addressed him. Where she knew some emotion, his were repressed and with her smile, he gave a nod. "It didn't know how to survive, so I killed it." A common thing for some to say, when his prey lacked survival instincts in a manner which could have saved their lives. Don't cry for him- just simply run. What will crying do, other than get you killed. Shed spotlight on your position. It was pathetic.

Two days, but now it would hold them over for some time at least. "Nothing on your end." Shaking his head. "Maybe we should keep moving, this place has dried out, and Im sure the migration pattern changed." If they were to travel forever, he would be ok with that. But little did he know, that his nightmares had been getting worse. His repression, had worsen. Screams at night, he wouldn't remember doing, as if he were a completely different person when awakened.

He simply wouldn't remember the episodes. "Survival. We haven't seen much around here anyway. Those that are here, don't have it. It's boring. They just scream, why do they do that Bashira, why do they scream but not run."

Bashira regarded Segurue for a moment, he was such a curious boy, but she knew that everyone had their stories and reasons for being who they were. She certainly did. So, she never bothered to bring up or ask him about his mysteriousness. She supposed that if he wanted her to know, that he would tell her one day, but now that was the least of their concerns.

They needed to figure out how they were going to survive past the meal Segurue had killed for them.

"Nothing that will help ultimately help us live," she replied. "We should probably move on after a couple days."

She listen to the other speak before replying, "Its because they are frozen in their fear and know that death is already upon them."
