“Come ooon, dad!” the little purple cub ran ahead of the much larger shape of her father, looking back every two seconds as if to make sure he was following her… or, at the very least, to encourage him to move a little faster. She was clearly not pleased with his current speed.

“I really want to see grandma.” She said more quietly when she caught her father’s amused expression, returning to his side as they walked up the mountain. She looked very anxious. “If we’re late, she might leave her den!”

“Slow down, Luce. What will your grandmother think if she sees you running like that?” Laertes chuckled, narrowing his eyes contently as his little girl darted back and forth, left and right and finally settled down by his side. “If she’s not there, we’ll find her. Don’t worry.”

He was glad she had calmed down by herself because there were many Nobles walking around and Laertes hoped they wouldn’t send one of those nasty judgmental stares her way. She was just too young to have to worry about such things.

“Don’t worry!” he repeated, giving the cub a little nuzzle on the head when he saw her expression. “We’re almost there.”
