[PRP] A Disagreeable Council (Joto'Damu x Wayra)

Joto'Damu sat in the pride's shrine inlet quietly, watching all the little cubs play happily and make dreadful amounts of noise in doing so. Maybe it was simply the feeling of competition he had with Sadiki, or maybe he really wanted some of his own, but the old male wanted cubs, and another mate. Sure, it hadn't been ages since his former mate had perished into the river chasing after his idiot daughters, but he was feeling the sting of loneliness greatly in his old age and was not content with it.

He had gone out scouting a couple of times for a mate, but came up empty each time, making him ever bitter. It was evident in council meetings with his unwillingness to cooperate being far more verbal than it usually was. Joto sighed heavily and watched as Sadiki's children ran laps around the other little ones, even the ones elder to them. Sadiki was a lucky b*****d to Joto, even if his mate was a little.. well, off. At least she wasn't stupid enough to try and cross a raging river in attempts to find her idiots daughters.

"Stupid woman," He grumbled, scratch at his mane idly, "She did it to punish me."

Pausing she tilted her head, looking outwards towards the pride's boundary, yet her focus was something a little closer... Sighing softly as she heard him mumbling to himself she walked forwards, ducking under the low branch of a windswept Acadia tree and settled down beside the old council member. For a long moment she simply sat, silently watching the cubs scamper and play in the warm sunlight. It wasn't often that the accomplished and well tempered lioness thought of her lost mate and the family she had never possessed... but the rare moment when she stopped and looked around, watched the families go about their daily life... sometimes she wondered... Oh, she loved the cubs she had taken in, cared and raised them with a strict paw and a loving heart, but they were not hers... She had nothing from her beloved and long gone mate to remind her of their youth together.

Shaking herself mentally she looked over at Joto, crimson eyes as confident and as unruffled as ever, her famous half-smirk curling her lips as she tilted her head at him in question. "And what pains you today my friend?" She asked, her naturally low husky voice casually curious.

"Old age," Joto replied gruffly, recognizing the voice of his sitting companion.

It was another council member, a lioness by the name of Wayra. They grew up together and knew each other for a rather long time, but were never very close. He held nothing but mutual respect for her, even if he didn't agree with her sentiments every now and again. They both at one time had mates, and now both of them were mate-less. Some in the pride wondered why they just didn't become mates with each other, but it wasn't something that crossed Joto's mind. He was not the sort to mix pleasure with politics.

"Cute little brats, aren't they?" He said, watching the little cubs scamper about in play. He wasn't the overly affectionate sort, but the fact he didn't call them anything worse was as outwardly affectionate as he was going to get. "Sadiki's boys are runnin' laps around everyone. Can't stay still, those ones."

Chuckling at his reply she turned back to watching the cubs, crimson eyes softening a little, a look that was rare for the ex-Icala'phatha. Certainly to those who knew her it was not an expression most would associate with the still-fearsome lioness.

"We are all old these days.." She replied, her low voice amused. "They make me feel twice my age." Smiling as one particular cub over-did his run and went slithering into a second, sending the pair of them skittering like dominoes, she couldn't help but chuckle at their enthusiasm for life. "All cubs are hyper, its good to see them getting along well." Pausing she looked back at her companion, gaze thoughtful. "Can you remember when we were that age?"
