These are verses that, combined with the circumstances in my life at the time, changed me forever:

(don't remember which translation...1Samuel 16:7)"...God sees not as man sees. For man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart"

(NIV 1Corinthians 3:2) "I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it. Indeed you are still not ready. "

Also, all of Romans 12 is a favorite (I won't quote that)
