His eyes followed the rock to the ground and then back to hers, then up to the marks. He smiled warmly, so happy that they had found each other again. He compared the two marks on the tree, seeing how different they were, but the old one still looked the same as it had years before. In a way, it symbolized how much the two of them had changed through the years, but yet they were still the same two Soquili. The same boy and girl who had been such great friends, but Austin felt that they were becoming more than that. He felt what he had known years ago, before they had gone their separate ways. He felt that he loved her. It was a warm, happy feeling that burned from the inside out. He was never one to be shy around females, but this instance gave him pause where he would normally blurt out whatever charismatic comment might come to mind. He wanted to tell her right away how he felt, but he wasn't sure if that might scare her off, or freak her out. He wondered what she felt. Did she feel the same way? Could that be possible? She had admitted that the kiss was nice, so that gave him hope. Lost in thought, his mind had wandered from the present back to days of their youth bringing forth so many memories and feelings. He couldn't help but smile and chuckle at them, letting out a happy sigh.
Then, it happened. His mouth opened and the words just blurted out, before he registered what he had said. "Alura, I love you."
