In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, when you get 99 lives (I used the unlimited 1-up jump trick), Mario looses his hat. I assume it's probably a glitch because when you beat a level, he still does the motion when he takes off his hat normally.

I think when his hat is off it's implied to be more of a spinning motion.
Like "Wee! I beat a level! *spin*"

I enjoy losing the hat.
I still want to find out what happens when Player 2 gets 99 lives while playing as a Toad.
