What was here? Or, so to speak, in this general area, because technically "here" didn't exist. You know what I mean by here, like, the universe. What did God do?

In the beginning, there was ONE THING. That one thing was infinite in magnitude and energy but had no scope or direction.
That one thing spread, miraculously, and expanded and spread. As it did so, it cooled and corrupted into the space and matter we know today, with separation from the original source.

Read John 1:1-5. Unfortunately, the bible does not make it very clear what happened before the creation, except for this excerpt found in John. For all we know, God did not "do" anything before He created the universe. He is perfect, and does not need anything or anyone to keep Him company or occupied, etc. As for what was here? God was, is, and will always be everywhere. Thus, before the universe was God, the One who created it.

Well... there wasn't anything except God before the beginning of the universe. But God made time and space and matter and pulled it all together smile.
