It was a rather still, uneventful day at the elephant graveyards, which unfortunately didn't distinguish it from most other days. A light breeze flitted across the drab lands, blowing up fragments of gray dust and shattered bone. Just another regular day. However, for Mafa, the pack leader, today wasn't just any other regular day. When she woke up, things were quiet, and it hadn't been quiet in so long. The female stood, taking in the peace and quiet that surrounded her. She breathed in a deep sigh as she stepped out of her den, a light grin on her usually emotionless face.
They were gone, scattered about the graveyard to do as they pleased. Those little leeches that were her pups. The little rascals had finally grown to an age where she felt confident in letting them off on their own. And boy was it a relief. Mafa hated being a mother, she really did. Of course, when she did have the pups, instinct took over and she cared for them as best she could, but her heart wasn't in it. They were just a burden. Except for her heir of course. Little Tawala, Mafa's pride and joy. Letting her grin fade, Mafa stared out into the dust, wondering what they were all up to.

As she fully emerged from her den, Mafa stretched out, her rather old bones creaking and joints cracking loudly as she did so. The female winced a little and shook out the scraggly fur on top her head. With a huff, she trotted onward, eager to go for a hunt for the first time in a while. However, the playful wind wasn't about to let Mafa leave the graveyard without warning her of an intrusion. A scent danced about before her nose as the wind carried it toward her, and immediately, Mafa tensed. Lion. That was the filthy stench of lion, clear as day. Mafa growled loudly. Now, it wasn't just her lands she was defending, her pups were out there on their own, and they sure as hell didn't know how to fight of a lion.
With a stirr of movement, Mafa took off in a sprint to where the scent was coming from. She arrived shortly to be met with a dark colored lioness. Mafa hunched her back, head down in an aggressive position. With her hackles bristled, Mafa advanced on the intruder, no fear within her at all. This lioness was small, this wouldn't even be a challange, the pack leader was used to dealing with worse. Maybe she wouldn't have to go so far to hunt after all. When she spoke, Mafa's voice was low and malicious,
"Stinking up my lands. That's an offense punishable by death."

Mafa simply scoffed at the lionesses words. They meant nothing to her, nothing but the gibberish of filth that didn't deserve to live, much less set foot on her territory. The alpha didn't waste her time in a rebuttle of words. Instead, she carefully circled the lioness, sizing her up from every angle. A low murmur of growls constantly was audiable from the large hyena. Certainly an intimidating sight. But Mafa knew this female wouldn't back down. Good. She hadn't kicked a** in a while.
Without any further words in actions, Mafa lunged at the striped lioness with a raw fury. She lashed out violently, yellow fangs eager to sink into the lionesses jugular, but if she couldn't land a fatal hit to start, she was close enough to tear into the tough muscle on the lion's shoulder. Mafa was a rather formidable predator, her frequent sparrs of the past with the stupid lion Runai from that despicable pride hadn't just been for the fun of it. She'd learned. And what Mafa learned, she never forgot.

Mafa felt immediate satisfaction as she felt her teeth hit target. Of course, it wasn't the neck she had been aiming for, but that sturdy muscle on the shoulder was blissful to gnaw into. As the blood rushed over her tounge, Mafa's eyes glazed over. Now, nothing else existed. Nothing but this fight.
Mafa shut her eyes tight as she felt claws burrow deep into her shoulder and gaze over her face. But she opened them quickly, only letting the pain fuel her rage. The blood stung as it slowly dripped into her open eyes, as did the gashes, but Mafa phased it out. She ground her teeth in deeper into the lionesses shoulder, but then let go. However, without any hesitation, she lunged again, aiming for the lionesses back. There was never a day Mafa didn't look to kill, but if she didn't get the chance, she was content to inflict as much damage as possible.

"Come on then..." Karndess said watching the beast let go and lunge again. Blood was seeping from her wounds but red eyes seemed as if they were crazed now,c laws extended, blood covering the ground, scent tainting her nose, her feelings, her emotions. Karndess was picturing this beast as the one who left her alone after she had been abandoned.
She'd pay, oh, when she found hate true soul...they'd pay.
This beast would do fine for now.
"We've had our fun, trust me, I'll be back another day, but I want to see a beast in its prime, not just a passer by fight..." Karndess said, fangs beared, growling low, she side stepped away from the hyena, and wondered if she had time to make a dash for it a bit farther away, just so she could pass through.
Thats all she wanted.

Words were irrelavent, Mafa was so deep in her loathing that nothing could reach her. It was like a trance that she went into when lion blood hit her palate. It was almost inexplicable, but she totally lost it. Nothing mattered except victory. By any means necessary.
As Mafa was about to sink her teeth in again, the lioness squirmed out of her way and her fangs only grazed the animal's fur. The hyena spit out a mouthful of fuzz in a flurry and shook her head. This time, she heard the lioness speak. Mafa spat blood as she sneered at the animal,
"My lands are not just for passing through. There is a fine to pass, and that's a fine in blood."
Mafa wasn't about to let this go, no way in hell. She hurdled forward again, teeth bared, ready to bite down on the first thing she came into contact with. The lioness had a choice, fight, or flee. Mafa had no intention to just back down.

Karndess was shaking now with anger and hate, rage fueling through her blood, coursing in her veins, she snarled, let the beast morf into the black silouette of hte one she wanted to find. As Mafa lurched forward, Karndess stood her ground, aching with anticipation, wondering if she'd get the chance with the real thing.
Hit and run, that was her plan.
"I. Said. Leave. Me. ALONE!" she roared and as Mafa got close enough, she swung out her clawed paw with force to try and slice the beast's neck, but only hit the jawline.
Damn it.

Mafa raised her head high, letting out a loud, characteristic hyena cackle. The eerie sound rang out among the bones. No matter what happened, she was claiming this as a victory. Letting her eyes refocus on the enemy, she shifted her jaw about with her mandibles, a sickening pop echoing out as she shifted the previously dislocated jaw back into place. She chuckled, sneering as she advanced further,
"You'd like that, wouldn't you, filth?"
But just as she spoke, her little rag doll decided to make a run for it. Mafa snarled and took quickly to pursuit. Mafa wasn't exceptionally fast, but with that bum leg she'd inflicted, that lion wouldn't go any where all too fast. Rather quickly, the alpha closed the distance between them and with a quick burst of energy, used her strong shoulder to ram into the lionesses ribs in attempt to knock her over and end this little game.

Mafa had put every ounce of frustration that had been building up within her as she raised those pups into that tackle. Though pain ebbed through her shoulder after she hit hard, the pain was almost satisfying. She had needed this, needed this little sparr to free some of that pent up rage. Hopefully this way, she'd be less likely to lash out at pack members.
As the lion stood, Mafa lashed once more, however, her hold was not nearly as deep as she'd wanted it. The lioness took off, leaving Mafa with a bloody mouth full of torn skin. She darted up to pursue the intruder again, but her shoulder had taken quite a hit. Some times, Mafa forgot that she wasn't exactly a young creature anymore. The alpha spat in the lionesses wake.
"Run, coward. Return here and meet your death!"
Once again, Mafa let out a laugh, letting her cackle ring through the dusty place. This was her territory, she'd defend it against whatever she saw fit. Take one last loathing glance, Mafa turned and trotted off, rather content with herself for the day.
