Lobby, lobby. Where was the lobby? Having walked around the entire basement, the wolpertinger knew that it wasn't there. The PA announcement had said that somebody had opened the doors to the lobby, however, and he could only assume that it meant that the lobby was the way out.

He had bounded up the stairs to the main floor with ease, and was now jogging along it's main hallway, to it's end, his ears swiveling in that direction as he saw an open door, and could hear voices talking on the other side.

At least one was familiar, and he skidded to a stop at the doorframe, listening in for just a few seconds before stepping inside to frigidly cold air, his skin breaking out in goosebumps as his ears went back.

"Vut is going on, here?" He looked between the two boils in the room, Llyr and somebody else that he didn't really recognize. "Vhich vun opened door?" He asked, though he could guess, by the sense of urgency and upset in Llyr's tone before he had walked in.

"Who vas just leaving us here alone, vithout vord or plan made? Thought ve vere figuring these things out." He gave a pointed glare to the boil he didn't know, before red eyes lifted, noticing now the words painted above the doors.

"Fully Vise Four...." He said, out loud, staring at the letters. A puzzle? It seemed like it probably was, the words making no sense as they were.

"...Vait." He held up his hand. "Don't leave, not until figuring...." He continued to stare, months upon months of word puzzling rearranging the letters in his head.

He frowned, and then spoke out loud again. "You Vill Suffer...?"

A weak gasp left Gene's throat when Parker retaliated, and she crumpled to the floor in almost and instant, very much awake and able to see and hear everything the demented man whispered to her.

She was pathetic. She was stupid. She made too many assumptions, and she'd gone with what her mind told her. She hadn't thought logically about this, she'd just gone with her stupid emotions like she always did. She even had one of those needles in her pockets! Why didn't she just use that? Stupid, stupid ghoul. She'd wanted a family so badly - even if it were a deranged, psychotic brother who set up games in which he got creeple to kill each other.

Who had he tricked? She hardly knew these students, so she couldn't make any sort of guess. All she could do was lie there in chemical silence, waiting for her body to lose its rigidness as hot tears carved a river in her face.

Stupid, pathetic ghoul.

Grasping his bag, the sledge hammer, and the key, Aurel made his way down the stairs and into the lobby that had been opened where he saw a bunch of his classmates congregating. Someone was leaving without discussing - and that did not fly with him.

There was still a hallow look on the boil's face - surprisingly, he'd managed to hold back tears which had been threatening to escape for the last ten minutes but his eyes were red and so was his face. It looked like Christmas vomited on him with all that green.

"Nobody is leaving," he said as he entered, "Not until we decide who the best chance for escape is." Aurel gulped. "It is more than just us at stake. Amrita is dead. She was here. The Fracs - I -" He didn't know who knew the ghoul but it was important. His voice was gruff and like gravel - and almost cracked when he said the words.

"There may be others that are not us here, people important to us. Waiting to be killed because of us. We need our best chance."

Everything was in place.

The towel that contained most of her belongings was hugged tightly to her chest, and even as Marzena made her way up her stairs, she somehow accidentally bumped her injured arm into a wall. Hissing out a curse word, her fingers tightened into a fist, making sure the key hidden within the bandages would be safe, at the very least.

But she was still bleeding, and her carelessness had brought fresh blood to the surface of her skin, causing it to seep through her bandages.

She hadn't had time to replace them right now.

She arrived just in time to hear the last few sentences that Aurel had uttered. People waiting to be killed because of us.

Had they, too, been approached with the same offer?

Marzena took a deep breath as she stepped forward, surveying the boils before her who she presumed, with the exception of Llyrendil, held the remaining keys.

"So," She said quietly, swaying somewhat unsteadily on her feet. "What's the plan? We need to figure out where we're going and how we will find out way back, won't w--" And then dizziness seemed to overtake her and squeezing her eyes shut, she crumpled to the ground.

"I am not just going to leave!" Brenley growled, pushing at Llyr's hand with a bit more force. The lie came easier this time, or maybe his promises just flowed more freely the closer they edged toward the truth. Had they remained alone, he might have thrown a punch despite the presence of the pole pruner, but Mathias' arrival dampened all hope of getting out mostly undetected, and it only got worse when the others showed up soon after.

"I never agreed to anything like that," he said to the wolpertinger, struggling to clear the growing hysteria from his voice as he turned to Aurel next. "And who is this Amrita? We were told there were thirteen. If he has everyone we care about locked up in this place, then who's to say he isn't lying about everything else, including what's beyond those doors? I earned this key, and I'm not—"

The reaper suddenly fell silent as Marzena entered the lobby. Here was one of the few who had been there before he had accepted that terrible offer and everything had turned on its ear. Even though he hadn't known her prior to waking up in the chapel, he trusted her more than these others. Bren pulled away from Llyr, drawn to her quiet voice and the fact that she hadn't yet denied him his right to escape.

And then she fell.

"Marzena?" he said, awkwardly laying a hand on her shoulder after rushing to her side. He didn't have any more bandages, and while he thought to offer her one of his hospital gowns, they were all that stood between him and the chill of the room and he preferred to keep them until the moment they became absolutely necessary.

Mathias' arrival was one thing, and so was the antlered boil - but Marzena's was entirely another, Llyr's eyes widening as she stepped into the room, swaying as though she were injured. His gaze was drawn to the red staining her arm - a terrible, bright scarlet red that seemed angry and harsh in the dim lighting of the room.

And then she collapsed and Llyr made a strangled sort of noise in the back of his throat, running towards her. He knelt beside her, and reached out to touch her arm, his expression pained, his chest tight.

And then he turned to look at Brenley beside him, and the look in Llyr's eyes was surprisingly fiery, his complexion paling.

"You were just going to leave us. You were going to leave her here to die, just like you were leaving Amphi."

I never agreed to anything like that... Aurel snapped his attention to the reaper as he spoke those words laced with hysteria - but all he could hear was selfishness and the Fracs' words came right back to him.

"I do not care if you agreed to it!" Aurel boomed, moving toward Bren with wide, purposeful strides. "You are not leaving here. Nobody is. Not until we find our best chance for everyone to get out. Can you swim? Can you navigate? Do you know who to go to to get help?" The taller boil stood just inches away from the much smaller one, towering above him with a look on his face that was anything but friendly.

"I do not care if you earned your key. HOW did you earn your key? Who did you kill?" Because that was how he found his key, and it was killing him inside. With the Fracs and the horrible games that were being played he really didn't think any key was going to be earned any other way.

2 were dead of their 13.
He had a key, Bren had a key.
Amphi had died.

That left one death unaccounted for. And Bren was the only other one with a key that he knew about.

"I'll be fine." She ground out. Marzena had never been one for showing her weaknesses. Out of all of them, she was the only ghoul so far in the room, and seemed pathetically human, in comparison to horns and wings and chains... "I probably just need to replace these bandages."

Perhaps she could have defused the situation. Pointed out that there was no use quarreling between themselves, not when they had twenty-four hour time bomb on the shoulders of those who held the keys to the doors to their freedom. One that was hidden right in her bandages, and one she was not about to reveal now lest Aurel accuse her of killing someone for a key.

But at least she had a witness as to how she acquired hers. Why he thought that, she did not know, and only had her deep suspicions, but a heated quarrel would certainly draw the attention of those watching them.

A hand reached out to Llyrendil, clasping his wrist. And then it seemed that another spasm of pain coursed through her and she leaned forward, onto his shoulder, burying her face into the nook of his shoulder.

Marzena Adriatico was not a clumsy person. The 'accidental' fumble of her feet causing her elbow to ram right into the wall had been deliberate; the gears in her head had started moving right when the Fracs had dangled her skin right in front of her in an attempt to manipulate her.

She was a selkie, yes. And selkies had a deep connection with their pelt, especially when it was so connected with their natural form, and also, their freedom. And there had been many tales of how human men had managed to keep selkie lovers by their side by keeping their skin hostage, hidden and locked away.

Marzena had always loathed these tales. The situation she had been forced into reminded her of those exact stories, and she was not someone that obeyed orders willingly. It was something her father would attest to; she had always been the most rebellious and butted heads with him in more than one occasion, voice rising in anger because he had never thought of her as capable in his eyes...

"Do you trust me?" She whispered softly, in a strangled whisper. There were eyes and ears everywhere. She had thought that maybe, if she made use of her injury, she could draw someone closer without raising much suspicion.

What she hadn't anticipated was that it really did hurt, and she winced. She would just have to replace the bandages when they were done.

"What part of 'sending someone back' don't you understand?" he hissed, eyes narrowing at the nix. He stood, oblivious to the conspiratorial whispering that followed, his glare transferring easily to the other demon. "How are you going to determine who possesses these traits you feel are so important? Everyone is lying!"

He was shaking, but whether it was from anger, fear, or cold even Brenley couldn't tell. The sight of Pachua lying motionless, pliers piercing his throat, rose in his mind, and the boil's fingers curled so violently into his palms that his short nails drew blood. "And what I did to earn my freedom is none of your business."

BANG

Crashing and cursing, screaming and the sound of heavy objects colliding would be heard around the floor, a desperate struggle of axe against metal door causing the racket. The ghost didn't stop, either, continually slamming the now blunted head of the weapon into what she imagined to be Parker's stupid face.

"Let me outta here!" She wailed, hefting and striking and hefting and striking and hefting and striking.

Mathias was still staring at the words painted on the wall above the door when the others arrived. First, Aurel, who Mathias turned towards and offered a small smile, before reaching up and rubbing at his face.

You Will Suffer....

Was it a warning for anybody who tried to leave, letting them all know that all that awaited on the other side were more trials? Really, how bad could it be compared to here? It was one of those situations where they were damned if they did, and damned if they didn't. He had intended on giving his key to somebody else, preferably Llyr, since he knew the boil could at least carry a message back to the school for him if nothing else....

Another arrival, this time a ghoul, so Mathias found himself carefully making sure he didn't look directly at her when she entered. She seemed more quiet now, less snarly and snarky then earlier, and within moments, it seemed that she was also causing some alarm among the others, as Mathias could see her legs collapse beneath her as she fell to the floor.

He quickly looked away, back to the doors, all while listening to the others speak.

He was quickly beginning to tire of the boil known as Brenley.

"Fine, did not agree but vould still be villing to risk lives of everyone for sake of vun self. Am understanding now, that you are coward." Mathias's hands were balled into fists, his claws digging into the palms of his hands.

Aurel's words caught the wolpertingers attention next, and Mathias's eyes widened. Others here? Loved ones? Could it be true? He remembered his moment with Gregory, and gave his head a shake. "Vas likely trick, Aurel." It needed to just be a trick, and Mathias needed to convince himself of that.

As for the killing....

"I found key for exit. Assuming that is vut "E" is standing for. No killing vas necessary." He looked to Brenley next. "Just a machine, vun that turned parts into Fear. I put parts in, and key vas left behind vhen all vas done." His eyes narrowed into a glare at Brenley next.

"Am not lying. Am trustvorthy, and honest, vhich is more then saying for you, coward. Do not be calling me liar again." His last words were said in a low growl, his ears folding back as his lip was pulled back from his teeth.

And then, suddenly, he was straightening, his ears perking back up and swiveling towards the hallway.

"....Vut is that?"

“Why are you so defensive?” Aurel asked, “I am not lying. I do not think that others are lying.” He indicated around his room. The boy was protesting far too much for his liking. He could not help but be suspicious. In fact, he was about to do something to try and get the truth out of him when he heard Mathias speak.

“I hope so, but I do not think so. Blood…I – “ He looked at the other boil with a deep sadness in his eyes. He wanted to believe the wolpertinger. He wanted to believe that Amrita was safe and sound – but that room. He would not know unless he got into that room.

As Mathias shared that he found a key, he looked slightly relieved. Aurel had intended on giving the boil his key since he was the only one he could really trust at this point (at least, that he could find. Pachua and Remi were nowhere to be found, nor was Gene.)

“What was what?” He hadn’t heard anything.

"It's nothing, just a gnat." The Fracs piped up as cheerfully as ever - even to just remind everyone that it was in the room, sitting between them and the four doors.

"There are four of you with keys...I don't understand why you're waiting to escape. Your freedom is literally five steps away." It nodded towards the door, also to remind everyone that it was there, and so close.

The banging, for whatever reason, continued to grow louder and louder. You could almost hear a strangled and angry voice scream "I AM NOT A GNAT."

He had no idea who Brenley was yelling at or what the antlered boil was trying to accuse him of, Llyr's attention focused on Marzena. She looked gravely pale, but at least she was speaking and at least she seemed to know who she was and where she was. Llyr lifted his hand to help her to her feet, but her fingers wrapped around his wrist and then suddenly she had fallen against him. He was kneeling, but the action made him stumble a little, his legs tangling in his own robes as panic welled in his throat.

"Marzena?" Llyr asked worriedly, his hands grasping her arms (gently), his expression one of anxiety. "Marzena, are you all right? Are you well? Marzena..."

He heard a whisper, low and rough in his ear, spoken against the skin of his neck so that it was muffled and barely audible. Llyr blinked slowly, tilting his head and slanting his gaze down towards her, and he could see the look in her eyes; not a vacant, pained look, as he'd feared, but one of determination.

"Yes?" he answered her, just as quietly, confusion lacing the single word. "Yes," Llyr said, a little more decisively. He glanced around the room, frowning slightly.

"Where...where is everyone else?" he asked, and his fingers curled around the pole pruner in his hand.
