”... oh.” There was a long pause when Matt reminded Kyle that the pretty crystal staff that had just impaled you in the middle of combat wasn’t going to remain where it was until someone on their side came along to do something about it. ”Okay... Forget what I said then. That was stupid and irrelevant.” He tried brushing it off nonchalantly though he was already cringing inside at how ignorant and naive that made him sound.

Ugh. Could he get any worse than that already?

”That goes beyond doing your job... Doesn’t background support mean remaining in the background to provide support compared to charging in guns blazing and taking hits for the front liners?” So said the very ignorant and stubborn Sun trainee to the Moon intermediate. Nevermind the fact that he was way out of his league here. Nope. It was true that he couldn’t stop Matt from being there if he insisted on being so stubborn. But that didn’t mean that he would let the matter drop just yet without even trying to see if he could get him to think otherwise.

Downing the rest of his scotch in one gulp, he set the glass down on the table with a resounding thud, his eyes trained on the Moon opposite him the entire time. Matt couldn’t be serious about him. Anytime now and he would probably back off laughing at why the Sun had taken his teasing so seriously. It was just a misunderstand…

He blinked, surprise apparent when he saw the other man curl his own pinky finger around his and vocalised his promise to him. He stared at the pinky promise first then at the grinning man who was waiting for his answer. He. This wasn’t a figment of his own imagination was it? He took a deep breath, his entire face as red as a beetroot now as he weighed in his options. This was important. He wasn’t the same Kyle Cooke before he came to Deus. He had no family, no girlfriend. He had nothing to lose by going along with this.

Right?

”Deal.” He nodded, his mind made up as he leaned in to press a chaste kiss to the other’s lips before he started to doubt himself on the matter.

Matt chuckled as the hunter realized what he said, and merely waved his hand not to worry about it. Sometimes it was easy to forget how battle went, that it wasn’t like a spar or even dealing with an accident of some sort. It was another thing wanting to destroy you, and like you they weren’t going to stop until one went down. The bright side was how cute he was getting frustrated when he

It’s defense in the end, if that means parrying an attack to get you out then so be it.” The one thing Matt knew was that he was not the greatest fighter, he was good enough to get by, good enough to stop something for a moment and getting someone out of harms way. That was the reason he kept training everyday, kept sparring and doing what he could to be better, to help. He picked up his own glass and finished it, setting it back on the table.

Watching as Kyle’s face grew red, he grinned, somewhere deep in his mind was some voice screaming, possibly even Kasi’s that some part of him would regret this come tomorrow but that was a tomorrow him to deal with. It wasn’t as if he had anything to really lose in the matter, he never really had a girlfriend or a boyfriend, no one really at Deus either, what real concern did he have? So far he had merely done what he had pleased with little concern or responsibility. There was Kyle maybe regretting it in the morning but the matter would be his choice, there was no reason Matt would hold a drunken man to his word if he didn’t want to.

There was however a slightly surprised looked when the other man leaned up pressing a kiss to his lips, it didn’t last for long as Matt caught his chin returning the kiss. “Deal it is.”
