The gift giving season was upon you. You didn't procrastinate this year, or maybe you weren't even thinking of Christmas gifts when you found it... but the important part was you had found IT. There it was, in an unlikely place, but calling you like a beacon. It made you think of them, how could it NOT? You had to have it. They needed to have it.
Wilbur loved Christmas, but he especially loved the weeks leading up to it. He loved listening to Christmas songs for hours on end in his mail truck, singing along and pretending he was serenading a crowd instead of his dashboard. He loved that it got dark earlier in the day and he got to see a lot of beautiful lights and trees along his route, slowing down and admiring the truly elaborate displays. He loved that more than any time of year, people seemed delighted to see them. Cards delivered from family they hadn’t seen in ages. Presents necessary to make sure kids’ Christmas dreams came true. Some people gave him cookies or even hot cocoa, and everyone admired his totally optional (but in his mind, essential) Santa hat.
Granted, Wilbur himself didn’t get a whole lot of cards. Or any, really. Probably most of them got lost in the mail or something, surely, or that’s what he’d say if anyone ever asked. It wasn’t that his family wasn’t big on Christmas, per say, just… they were more so big on practical careers and crushing dreams and, you know. All of that. But it was fine, because giving was better than receiving, and he made sure to write cards for them - and of course, he had other people to shop for.
Especially Mr. Bossman, Magiore, and boy, did Wilbur have something special in store for him. He kept trying to get him to come over and watch Friends with him or something, because he honestly didn’t know if Magiore had seen it or not, but they only had a year left to get through nine seasons which was a pretty tall order. It was one of his favorites, so it only stood to reason that he would bestow something beloved upon the best boss and friend ever. It might almost make up for missing his wedding. Almost. Wilbur had seen it online, and honestly, it was so amazing he’d actually almost gotten a second one for himself so they could twin it up. (But he also didn’t want to steal bossman’s thunder, tehe.)
It looked a little… big when it got there, but that was fine. No shame in swimming in a sweater. The looser the better, right? And other than that it was literally everything he had dreamed of when he’d seen the picture, and oh god, Magiore was going to love this. Maybe he’d actually love it so much that he’d promote Wilbur to captain or something!
Or maybe just write him a Christmas thank you card or something. That would be kind of nice to come home to something in his mailbox. No big deal or anything.
Not that it really mattered. Wilbur wasn’t doing it to get anything; he just wanted to cherish what good friends and bossmen he had, that was all. What else were the holidays for besides letting people know they mattered, right? In the end, stuff was just stuff.

Prompt 3 It was hideous. You knew it was hideous. And you knew exactly who you would inflict it upon. And it was a GIFT, so they wouldn't even be able to say no. You were filled with Christmas glee, the same kind of glee you were filled with when people groaned at Christmas music. You wrapped it with care, or maybe you took it to a gift wrapping service and watched the confused expression of the service counter as they wraped up the garment. This... this was going to be great.
Evan was out today, under the guise of getting a few things to go into a new recipe he was working on. Everyone else was busy, and for once, he preferred it that way. It made Christmas shopping easier if he didn't have to hide what he was getting.
He had already made a few stops and picked up a few little things when he decided to dip into a fashion boutique he'd never heard of. With little experience and next to no idea what this place even was, he didn't have very many expectations. He hated shopping for clothes for anyone else, unless it was socks, because you couldn't go wrong with those, but for some reason he was here.
It certainly wasn't for himself.
He wasn't exactly a fashionable person; most of his clothing was straight up black. Cambria had gone shopping for him for a while, and he just wore whatever she picked it for him--mostly hidden under a black sweater if he could help it.
Half of his closet had some sort of cat embellishment on it, and though he might not wear most of them out in public they were too cute not to wear around the house.
...And Cambria had gotten them for him, and it always made him smile when he pulled out something she had picked out while thinking of him.
He was going to leave after just poking around--and then he turned a corner and saw it.
The sweater was ugly in every sense of the word. It was gaudy, it was too big, and Evan had stared at it for a good fifteen minutes trying to figure out how you'd actually wash the thing. He ran his fingers along the sleeve for the umpteenth time; it was soft, but that was about the only thing it had going for it. It was a pale lavender color with fluffy white sleeves and some sort of iridescent tinsel strands woven in.
Truthfully, it was ugly. But Evan couldn't stop staring at it.
He didn't have many girls in his life, and Cambria was always wearing something cute or fashionable, or maybe she just had the ability to look good wearing whatever she put on.
...But he wanted this for her.
It was too big, and he coudln't imagine it matching with anything. Or, maybe, it matched with everything because it seemed to have little bits of every color in it. Purples and pinks and blues--those, at least, were probably close enough to what was in her typical wardrobe. Though, her closet was devoid of sequins, fortunuately.
Not so fortunate for the sweater.
It was a captivating thing, hideous and yet probably hand crafted; he didn't see any others like it, though there were a few similarly atrocious sweaters nearby.
But nothing like this one.
This one had unicorns on it, and it was marked so low it was basically a crime not to get it, right? Of course, he knew why it was priced at a steal; no sane person would get it. And, yet, he wanted to see her in it.
...He wanted to see the way her face scrunched up as she tried to hold a smile, tried to tell him it was lovely--because that's what she'd do. She coddled him sometimes, still, and he knew it. Sometimes he used it to his advantage. Sometimes it frustrated him.
Sometimes it gave him opportunities like this.
At the very least, she could use a good laugh--and so could he.

He knew he shouldn’t...but he had to! Seeing the sweater at the small little kiosk in the middle of the mall had caught his attention, something these sorts of horrid things never did. He rather avoided such tacky things and yet he’d just purchased one of these ugly sweaters. But he wasn’t going to keep it, not a chance in hell, but he was going to gift it to someone...a very certain someone. That person was most certainly taller than him, most people were, but that didn’t matter. They wouldn’t know it was from him, unless they knew his hand writing well, he just hoped they didn’t start a search for the person who had given them the gift….which they very well might.
Pushing his fear to the side he had the gift wrapped at the mall, the one boxing and wrapping the gift giving him a rather odd look, he took it home after paying for the wrapping. It looked good...it hid the contents of the gift well...it made it look harmless and nice. The card he added might help that...or not.
The card was in a dark blue envelope and addressed to the General King, in neat silver slightly slanted script, not that he wouldn’t know it was for him as Alexandre planned to leave it in front of his office door. The inside of the card contained the same handwriting, though smaller.
When night fell he went out, telling his partner he was giving a gift to a co-worker, and off he went a few blocks before powering up and teleporting down to the citadel where he left the box harmlessly at the office door of the General King. Heading to his own office, to see if it was discovered any time soon, he smiled to himself. Inside the card it simply read:
“Head Elf: Taller than the other elves...but still an elf.”
There was no signature, he didn’t want to give himself away, and while he waited the General curled into his chair and took a book from his desk to read - he had time. He just wished he had better lighting down here...it would be beneficial. At least he hadn’t gotten Zinkenite one with cotton fluff on it..or a bell or bows...although it had been tempting to get one with a hell...and mention in the card that it was so people knew who was coming and could appropriately duck and hide...or act busy.
Maybe next year….if he wasn’t found out about this year...it was an idea. Humming to himself he opened his book, unsurprisingly it was about plants, and he started to read slowly. “I wonder if I could get candles for my office...and keep them alight.” It was an idea, he had enough candles at home he could certainly spare some for his office. “Something I’ll look into...but not right now.” Now he had other plans...he was hoping to hear, and feel, a certain General King arrive. He was curious...perhaps too curious?
