Whence came the fellowship. . .

Skylar looked up at the Tarnax castle. "It is not as large as I thought it would be," she said, "It looks more like Magi." Asher just glanced over at her. "ALL castles look alike in size," he said calmly. Skylar sighed, shook her head, and walked up the stairs to the great doors. They were dressed in their normal clothes: Skylar in her black and white frilled skirt with a black shirt and a brown-orange poncho. She had on hiking boots with a black headband with a black bow. Asher, on the other hand, was wearing brown pants, a plaid jacket much like Skylar's poncho around his waist, a black long-sleeved shirt, green over shirt, a golden tie, black shoes and a green hat. They had forgotten that they were going to a extremely fancy ball. After all, they had come by themselves without a guide. Skylar and Asher reached the door and the boy took the knocker and knocked three times. The sound echoed loudly. Soon, the great doors opened. Two guards looked out and, in their eyes, saw two children. They did not see the twins of Magi, nor any royalty in front of them. "Get out!" one of them snarled. Skylar sighed and Asher glared. "I am Skylar Winter Lythiane and this is my twin brother, Asher Blue Lythiane of Magi. We wish to enter," Skylar spoke quite queenly. Surprise shone on the guards' faces. "Y-yes, my Princess and Prince. Forgive our actions. W-we did not know," said one of the guards. They opened the doors wider and let Skylar and Asher walk in. The doors shut behind them with a bang. When they were out of the sight and hearing of the guards, Skylar and Asher relaxed. "I am never doing that again," Skylar hissed. Asher shrugged, "Good job anyway." The twins began to make their way down the hall. They walked for quite a while before stopping. Asher and Skylar exchanged looks. "Where are" "we going?" They started and finished each other sentence. Asher shrugged, Skylar just blinked, and they set off towards the smell of food. They reached a door that looked like a door for servants. "Hm," Asher said, looking it over for the door handle, "Should we just push it open?" Skylar nodded and, together, they swung the door open. Jumping inside with the door swinging close behind them, Skylar and Asher looked around to see that they were not in the dining room, but the kitchen. They sighed then jumped at a sudden noise. With their backs against each other, the twins glanced around for the thing that mad the noise. They were hidden partly in the shadows so no one could see their faces clearly. A servant hurried past, not noticing them standing in the shadows. As they looked around, Skylar blew air through her teeth when she spotted a shadow. Slowly, the twin made their way towards it. Peaking over the edge of a table, what met their eyes was no more then the youngest prince of Tarnax!

Skylar and Asher stood to their full height once the prince had spotted them. "My Prince," Skylar and Asher said in unison, nodding but not bowing. What is the point in bowing if you're that same rank? That is what the twins thought. The lords and ladies would say other wise. Skylar then grinned and Asher leaned against the counter top. "Why are you so nervous in your own castle, may I ask?" Skylar asked, walking to to him but stopping a few feet away. Asher smiled and nodded, "Yes. Why are you so jumpy?" The twins had nothing to fear their castle, only the leering eyes of the ladies who loathed Skylar and Asher's unroyal-like actions. They did not care, even though they got scoldings. What was there to fear but fear itself? Skylar and Asher suddenly glanced at each other and grinned. They were thinking the same thing. Maybe the jumpy prince would agree. Maybe he would not. Either way, the twins would do what they thought best.
"Prince Gaz," Skylar spoke, and the twins started circling him. Asher went one way and Skylar the other. "Will you listen to our one question?" Asher said slowly. They both stopped suddenly; Skylar facing Gaz and Asher behind him. "Will you come with us," Skylar started, "And interfere with the party?" Asher finished. They then grinned. If he said yes, the twins would make sure that he got the blame. After all, he knew the castle from ceiling to floor.

Skylar hissed and Asher stepped beside his twin. "Quite unexpected, I must say," Asher said to his twin sister. Skylar nodded, almost glaring at Gaz. "Now, we shall be taking our leave." Skylar curtsied and Asher bowed before they pushed the door open. When they were out of hearing range, Skylar started giggling and even Asher cracked a smile. "Who would have expected the Prince of Tarnax to agree?" "Certainly not I." Asher and Skylar said to each other, walking down a dimly lit hall. They had not a clue where they were or going, but who could stop them? It would be certainly well to try. The twins walked and walked in silence, not daring to speak for they had no clue what may jump out: a guard, a rat, even a royal! Who knows! The twins hurried on, not liking the spookiness of the vacant hall.
They turned a corner and were suddenly bathed in a harsh light of candles. They jumped back into the murky darkness, hiding. Skylar was the first to recover. She peaked out and saw that many were being escorted by maids and butlers towards a huge room. They noticed many maids, most likely cooks, walking somewhere, not near the dining room. They glanced over at each other and grinned. Why not? They got up and, quickly, followed behind a girl in a blue dress. A pretty girl. Skylar walked quietly but Asher was having a hard time. It was not long before they reached the ballroom. The twins, now not caring who saw nor heard them, rushed in with a cry of delight. No one knew why the twins loved ballrooms nor do the twins themselves. Ballrooms just brought back good memories. . . or maybe even more. The twins chased each other around, played a small game of hide-and-seek, and raced around.
